La Belle Epoque Wine Bistro
Very good French menu and the food quality very good. Enjoyed the small and intimate dinning area. The server was very friendly and helpful. Good selection of wines with many French items.
Always a great meal with no stress. Relaxing environment
The duck and chicken meals were great! My husband and I were a bit disappointed with the crepes. They were too crisp and greasy on the outside. They did not seem freshly grilled in the crepe pan, but maybe that’s how the make them.
Delicious as always & the best wine selections!!! Great date night :)
The food was good.
My husband had crepes and cram of chestnut soup that was very tasty
I had a seafood dish in bouillabaisse .
The sauce was very good. It contained sea bass, shrimp, mussels and clams.
The entree was around $29. So not terribly expensive but the piece of sea bass was very small and not very good(I’ve never been served sea bass with the skin on)and there were maybe 3 shrimp. There were ample clams and mussels.
I plan to go back and try it again.
Our experience was fantastic, as always, this is our favorite local restaurant, and we have known many of the staff members for years, they always treat us with kindness
Always a special evening with the La Belle team!
Great drinks.. get the Mussels.. cheese plate. Good service . Thanks Ronin and Wes
Our second visit. On a mid-week night, not crowded. The food was excellent. All four of us really enjoyed it. And the space is very nice. Service was good, but sometimes it was hard to get our waitress’ attention. I especially like that they have a wide choice of kinds of food, from “fancy” to simpler fare. We will definitely be back.
Nice spot for a unique lunch. Crepes were very good with side salad and wine.
Comfort food - French and some not-so but with a French take. Cozy and friendly. Brunch at 11 AM - packed and animated when we arrive but not loud at all. Looking forward to checking out a dinner
I had a reservation with my girlfriend for Saturday 2/15 at 5pm for our Valentine’s day dinner. We arrived a couple minutes before the 5pm. When we got to the restaurant door it was locked. This was a bit annoying as it was quite cold out but which we assumed was because your restaurant does not open until 5pm. A few minutes later the host came and unlocked the door, did not open the door to invite us into the restaurant or even acknowledge we were there. We walked in and were greeted and promptly seated. Our waiter came and gave us menus and came back a few minutes later. We ordered a bottle of the Syrah. He returned a couple minutes later with two glasses of wine but no bottle. We were a bit confused as we ordered a bottle and but before we could say anything he walked away. We started looking at the menu and enjoying our wine. Probably 20 minutes went by and we did not see our waiter nor did anyone come back to see if we wanted to order anything. A few minutes later our waiter emerged to proceed to sit at the bar with a stack of cash and lottery tickets. He sat at the bar and scratched lottery tickets and talk to another waiter about soccer and did not look up to see if we needed anything nor even acknowledge we were there. Mind you we were still the only people aside from maybe one other table. At this point we were beyond frustrated with the lack of service and got $20 cash out to cover the drinks and stood up to leave. He then decided to ask us if we need anything to which we said no and put the cash on the table and left.
Overall extremely disappointed with the service from the moment we walked in the door and ruined what was supposed to be a nice night out for Valentines Day.
Friendly, warm service and delicious unpretentious bistro food. Love this place!
As always our favorite restaurant did not disappoint! The Valentine's menu was delicious (although my husband was a little upset there was no chestnut soup on the menu!). The strawberry risotto was super intriguing! I was happy it was more tangy than sweet. The duck breast was moist and paired wonderfully with the pomegranate sauce!
Always wonderful place to dine with long time friends.
Was never there for Brunch - only dinner which is always fabulous! Needless to say - Brunch was wonderful too!
A meal at La Belle Epoque is always special when you are taken care of by Ronan. He provides a personal touch that escapes many other dining establishments!
Great brunch! Crepes are perfection!
My favorite restaurant in the suburbs. My go to for special days with hubby and great friends. I’ve never had a bad meal there EVER!
Always have a spectacular meal here, the service is fabulous, the food perfectly prepared, the space is lovely.
It was pouring when we arrived for Saturday brunch but the staff helped us settle in, taking our coats and making us feel welcome. We ordered mimosas to start and were given plenty of time to linger over our cocktails.
We both ordered crepes (seafood, chicken) and very much enjoyed them. Would certainly return, hopefully on a sunnier day.
Lovely date night. Enjoyed the specials.
Our waitress was unattentive and took my wife’s plate before she was even done eating. She took forever to take our order. Then, to make matters worse, the booth seating is such that my wife went to slide out of the seat due and fell off, spilling a whole glass of wine on her pants and boots. Awful experience, we will not be returning.
Lovely ambiance, great service and delicious food. Never been disappointed. Thank you.
Wife and I had Onion soup, Cesar salad with shrimp, and the grilled eggplant dish for appetizers. All of that was very good and fresh. My wife had the house Cab and I had my French Martini’s and they were excellent as well. We had Crepes for our main, wife had the Raclette and I had the Fruit de Mer. Mine was excellent and the wife enjoyed her’s but she was not impressed by the quantity of the potatoes ( I thought it was delicious when I ate her leftovers the next day and she is spoiled because she lived in France for 5 years). For the price and quality plus employee etiquette, La Belle Epoque is very reasonably priced and a great place to go for date night.
I tip based on value and experience/expectations and I left impressed. 1% for a nightmare, 10% for so-so, 20% for pretty good, and 30% or more for amazing. I left a 30% tip there because my wife and I enjoyed ourselves a lot. The experience was memorable.....
We have had frequent meals here and it’s always been good. Maybe this was just an off night but it was quite noisy. The beef in my meal was dry.
Will return again but this particular night was not so good.
I felt the waiter did not like us from the beginning and there was nothing we could do about it. And he was very confusing about the menu and then my order was done wrong and he made me feel bad about it, like it was my fault.
we were celebrating our 44th Anniversary and usually we go to Parc. Because of timing we went here. The mussels were excellent, but we both got the beef wellington special. The meat was well done making it dry and it was extmely salty making me not wanting to finish it. Not sure if there was a problem with the mushrooms, later that night me and my husband both got sick. The waiter was very good and attentive though.
New Years Eve. 2018 was a wonderful meal and we had top notch service. 2019 was the same menu and the food was poor, the bartender/waiter was drunk, cursing and couldn’t clear the table. New chef? New management?
New Years Eve dinner very nice
Best mussels I have ever had!!! Would definitely come back. Beautiful place and great food!!
La Belle Epoque never fails to delight, with great food and a good wine selection. How lucky we are to have them in our neighborhood!
Upon entering you’re greeted by a happy host willing to accommodate you in one if either a bar seat, table, or half shared booth half regular seats. Once seated you are greeted by your waiter(tress) with a smile and a welcoming attitude inviting you to a French culinary experience! After ordering appetizers for my parter and I, we wait with a shot of Espolón tequila....
An excellent French restaurant in downtown Media, PA. The food was outstanding, especially chef-made crepes and omelets. Quite authentic French cuisine. Service was friendly. It's location in Media can lead to parking issues, but the restaurant is within walking distance of a public parking garage. For those looking for a quiet setting, lunch may be a better option than dinner.
Love this place. Very good French bistro. Comfortable, casual room. One of the gems of downtown Media.
Took my sisters here as we are rarely in the same town together - everyone was super friendly and accommodating... food was terrific and super fresh.
My family loves this place. It’s small. Their wine is excellent. The only issue for me, and not for anyone else, is that I’m vegan. I came away eating only a small salad while every one else had multiple choices. There wasn’t even a sorbet for desert. It would have been nice to have one option besides greens.
I have always had a wonderful experience dining at La Belle E’poque and Saturday was no exception. It was restaurant week and we had the price fixe menu. What an enjoyable meal! A few highlights, absolutely marvelous diver scallops, done to perfection; Tender roasted chicken which was very moist; the mixed berry crepe - light and flavorful! All in all, a very enjoyable meal!
Always fantastic!!! We are regulars. Only thing to note is it can get quite pricey if you do do drinks and desserts. But it is so lovely there!!
