We love this restaurant for many years since it opened. After they changed the chef about few years ago, their food did not taste good. We went there few days ago for using our points and found their food tasted worse. We ate sushi and tempura. Sushi was OK, but not good...Tempura was so bad... We will not go there again... So sad...

I had been to Kubo's for brunch with a friend -- a great value when roll apps were 1/2 off. However, I took my boyfriend there for a birthday dinner and did NOT feel the same way. The service was okay, but the restaurant and the sushi smelled! FRESH sushi should not smell like fish when placed in front of you!!!

Food quality continues to be the high point of Kubo's. The sushi menu could use some updating, as could the wine list. The non-sushi menu looked good but I did not choose from it this time. Service was slow to quite slow. Our server disappeared when it came time to get the check and we were there 15-20 minutes longer than we wanted to be.

I ordered the sushi and thought it was pretty good! Very reasonably priced too. Kubo's is in the middle of Rice Village, so there is a lot to do and a good lunch place if you're looking to grab a bite after shopping, walking around, etc.

Much better experience after the previous occasion where we found the menu pretty much completely changed. Although we still miss the lunch specials menu, we could enjoy most of our favorites. Thank you!!

Its not the best I have had in Houston but it is far from the worst. Solid food offerings and its a high energy place with good service. They actually have Sapporo and Kirin on tap.....We decided to do the tasting menu which for the amount of food it was well priced. By the time the main courses came, we were full however it was so tasty that we had to eat a little more just because. Overall reasonably priced, solid traditional offerings with some Tex styled dishes to please the palate. You will not be disappointed.

We've frequented this restaurant for year, accumulating over 2500 points. We've noticed quality and options declined over the years but still enjoyed frequenting the restaurant. This last update is for the worse. Over favorites are no longer on the menu so we won't go out of our way to frequent this locale as much. Very sad as this has been our favorite for years. What a shame.

Houston has better alternatives for sushi. Granted, we went on Thursday night and many types of fish were out of stock, but their recommendations were only average.
