    I made the mistake of going to Kona Grill on Mother’s Day. I know better than to go out to a restaurant on a holiday, but I did. We had 6 o’clock reservations. We didn’t get seated till 630. We didn’t get service until 730. The menu options were not what is on the website. They were special dinners, and I was very disappointed. I had the fried rice steak and it was like a very small portion. I did walk away hungry

    Couldn’t have possibly been worse, and on Mother’s Day. 30 mins late to get seated for our reservation. 10 mins for water and drink orders. Didn’t have many drinks on the menu. 15 mins to get the one drink we did order. Finally ordered food. 1.5 hrs later, nothing. Asked them to cancel everything we didn’t get, and still got charged for the one drink. Saw the same with all other tables. It’s like they have no idea how to run a restaurant.

    The restaurant over booked and was not make to handle reservations. The kitchen was backed up and food took quite a long time. Our waitress did her best, however she was way over booked with tables. Overall, I felt bad for the staff but the management did a poor job of managing for them.

    I like this restaurant, but won’t go again on Mother’s Day. Knew it would be a bit crazy, but they overbooked. Had a reservation for 5 and didn’t sit until 6. Drinks we ordered took forever to get. Food took forever to get. Asked if they had Carrot Cake, my waitress said yes. Billed us for it, we paid and never came back with it. Had to go up to the hostess stand and ask, she said they didn’t have carrot cake and then had to wait an additional 10 minutes for them to refund us.

    This used to be a favorite of ours. We get there for our 5:00 reservation and are told they are an hour behind. Finally get called, the table is covered in crumbs and something sticky, as are the seats. I had to stop the hostess who was insistent on putting our menus on top of the sticky table. There is garbage under the table. The small gap between the table and the wall is packed with crumbs. 20 minutes later we have to go to the hostess stand as we haven’t seen a waitress. They forgot to tell her she was covering our table. She was lovely - Becca - her and the main hostess who had to tell everyone about the hour back-up were the only things that were. It took another 10+ minutes for the drinks to come, an hour to receive our cold food. This was an extremely disappointing Mother’s Day dinner for my MIL and a low point for a on e great restaurant.

    Clearly they were understaffed today - our reservation was at 3:15p we weren't sat down until 4:20p, we ordered and didn't get our food until 5:15p. The service staff were really pleasant and trying hard, but you can only do so much when food isn't coming. Disappointing experience at a restaurant that we usually enjoy.

    I expected the restaurant to account for the fact that it was a holiday (Mother’s Day) and staff and equip the restaurant accordingly. Obviously, these expectations were too high. They were at least an hour behind on reservations and they ran out of food from the bottomless brunch menu that was so heavily advertised. To say I was disappointed is an understatement. My reservation was at 3pm and we eventually got seated around 3:30. It took at least another hour for our food to arrive. The glass my water came in was not clean. The food was pretty good although my chicken stir fry had chicken gristle in quite a few pieces of the chicken. For $32 I should have a good selection of chicken in my stir fry. The portions were quite small so there were no left overs. Even my mother finished her food and she NEVER finishes her food at restaurants. My mother enjoyed her meal, but it was just a rather small portion for the price I paid. I do not plan on coming back here.

    Overall was a good experience however, I was disappointed that while I had reservations, I still had to wait approximately 1 hour for my party to be seated; In addition, the restaurant ran out of brunch food as well as mimosas.

    Zero stars if I could. Booked a Mother’s Day reservation and it’s clear this restaurant was not prepared for the day. Advertised a Mothers Day brunch and upon arrival: 1. There was no brunch. 2. I was seated 45 minutes past my reservation and 3. Once seated we were told food could take an hour-90 minutes. We left. The staff was so apologetic but it’s clear the manager or the corporation did not properly prepare for this busy day.

    Terrible Mother’s Day booking issues with Multiple overbooked reservations that happened online and within the restaurant. The two booking engines evidently did not speak to one another well. Many people showing up in my time frame all had the same 12:30 spot. We were all told it will be a 1.5 hour wait even for reservations people. Really? I walked the restaurant, saw many tables and a few booths, returned to the station to say please seat my party. They were accommodating. Then told by the Waitress, “Ok so here’s the deal, there’s still a 1.5 hour wait for food!” What next?! So they brought sweet breads from the brunch side. We received waters. I ordered mimosas. By the time they brought food, I was not hungry. They did the best they could. I did not ask for a bill adjustment, whatsoever, however theydid, however, adjust my bill greatly.. thank you, Kona Grill. The food was good, but it’s been better. The kitchen was very behind and short staffed we were told. An almost 4-hour restaurant experience much spent waiting. Many people left. Even though we hung in there it was a bit difficult keeping my two grandkids occupied. Wanted desserts, just couldn’t take the wait any further. I could say so much more, but not necessary. Kona Grill and Open Table, please do better!
