4th time i have been there in past 3 months. It was my last . It seems there is Always a new waiter and they are young, not coached well and it was like having to continually remined him to bring water, pleasee clear the plates that sat for 25 minutes after we finished eating, etc.
I had customers with me and it was not good . This green waiter issue has been there each time. They also make the waiter bring your plates clear your plates clear glasses there's no such aconcept as a busboy. Their process is not good, service is slow. Go somewhere else.
Overall, just fair. Edamame was way too salty even after trying to brush it off the pods. The sushi was average and the raw carrots in the salmon roll was an odd addition.
Prices were reasonable but would not return.
Y hurt me b
Good restaurant. But beware of the city's parking scam there. Hard to understand and they had a person give the wrong advice. Pretty clear the city is using the parking to collect from people out of town. No reply to contest.
Food was good, not great. Service was excellent and the added attraction is on Wednesday night they have 1/2 price bottles of wine
I put together a small group of friends to dine at Kona, which was my first time there. The selection, quality, and price of the Restaurant Week dishes was quite good. The portions were more than ample, the service was very courteous and attentive, and the quality of the dishes was also very good.
Our only issue with the restaurant was the level of noise, which was quite high even without the place being entirely full. The music playing was suitable for a bar, but not for dining conversation. I would suggest that it be turned down in the dining area. We'll definitely be back.
We ordered the Thai Shrimp with Rice Noodles and the Lobster Mac and Cheese. The food tasted good, but it had absolutely no presentation value. The Mac and Cheese was served in a boat dish which sat on a plate. It was served with nothing else, no steamed broccoli or other vegetables. The presentation was very plain. The server didn't bring any preliminary items like bread. It appears the restaurant is cutting too many corners to save money, but in doing so, the customer feels cheated.
I ordered the Hawaiian ribeye, it was cooked perfectly but I didn't taste any of the advertised teriyaki. The service was decent, although it took a while to get water refills. It is a sushi bar as well so consider that when making your choice of where to eat.
Last minute choice; made decision based on menu; good food, service was slow; bar happy hour made it a little noisy
The food is always delicious! Especially the tuna wonton crisps, but everything we ate was worth coming back for. Service is usually good as well, except for last time when we waited a lifetime for our food and at the end appetizers and entrees where brought to the table together (although we could see our appetizers being ready and sitting on the counter for like 10-15 minutes).
Red sangria is really good as well, better than the white one in my opinion.
We went to Kona Grill once before upon a friends recommendation. It was "ok" but we didn't see why our friends called it "their favorite restaurant". We went back this past weekend to celebrate the birthday of that same friend and we found that it was great! Don't know if we didn't know how to order last time (food is different than anything I've had before) or what but we were very pleasantly surprised. The artichoke dip appetizer was delicious and the almond crusted chicken was outrageous. I topped off my dinner with the most amazing "butter cake with vanilla ice cream" - to die for!! We'll definitely go back!! Recommend it highly!!
Nice ambiance and good service
Though food was good - I expected a lot better - steak was overdone and fish was mediocre
Drink service was a little slow
Came here in a group of four for a girls night. The food was generally tasty and well made, although the seafood seviche decreased significantly in quality from the last time I was here (last time it was primarily seafood, and this time it was a dish of chopped veggies with a tiny bit of fish and shrimp). Our server was excellent - very attentive and got all of our complicated orders right. If it hadn't been for the loud toddlers seated in our section, it would've been really great ambiance. Despite that, we will most likely be back, especially when it's warm enough to eat outside.
Food was good, as always but next time would request less salad dressing. Hostess was confused about who was there and gave us the wrong menus; waitress forgot every drink we ordered
The service was excellent - we were prompthly seated and the waitress was knowlegdebale, courteous and prompt. The food was excellent - tasty, cooked just right and served in an appealing way. Three of us had the fish of the day and one of us had the cheeseburger. We shared the butter cake which was scrumptious.
Went for restaurant week and unfortunately this night we got a waitress in training who barely spoke English and had absolutely no idea what she was doing. Had to ask her to repeat herself many times. Although she was new the waitress was fairly inattentive and forgetful with our order. We will go back again because we love the place and their food... we will just have to hope we don't get that waitress again.
Waitor & Manager was not very pleasant or helpful.
Recently celebrated a friend's "significant" birthday at Kona Grill. Service and food were excellent. In addition to the delicious entrees, the warm fudge brownie with ice cream for dessert that we shared was outstanding!
Waited for our drink order. Food came, then drinks which we refused having been served so late. Manager did come over later and apologized. Food mediocre!.
We enjoyed the restaurant week menu which provided good meals at a reasonable price. My wife and I both had filet mignon and it was cooked to order (medium rare). the meat was fairly flavorful but not as tasty as other filets we have had recently. The deserts were the highlight of the meal (carrot cake and fudge brownie). All in all a reasonable meal for the price but not spectacular. Our waiter English was attentive and pleasant and we recommend him as an excellent server.
Apps should be served 2 minutes before main course
It was out 5th time there and this time the experience was not consistent with the other times we went there. The drinks were not in there normal glasses and lacked the garnishes you expected, followed by a slow response time by the staff even though it was a slow night. This wan not what we usually experience.
We arrived on time. No one was at the greeting station. Waited there for 10 min before we decided to seat ourselves. Once seated we were there for an additional 15 minutes without so much as menu let alone placing any type of order. My party and I left and took our business elsewhere.
Special occasion, nice variety of entrees to choose from. Everyone was happy, from my picky teenager having sliders to me father enjoying his yellow fin tuna. Delicious all around!
Went to Kona for a light meal. Ended up having the grilled chicken Caesar Salad. The salad was very good and the chicken very flavorable. The cheese crisps were a nice touch. I have never had a bad experience at Kona.
Got steak and kona chopped salad - hubby enjoyed steak very much, and salad was tasty.
The food was decent, and service was good too. The desserts are too big in terms of portions, which make you feel like cheap diner food... Otherwise, good neighborhood restaurant to go.
While the food at Kona Grill is very good, the service needs some help. The lettuce wraps were very tasty. The salmon and tuna were prepared perfectly. The protions are large, so no dessert was ordered here.
Pleased with the restaurants response as our numbers went from 14 up and then leveled off at 16, handled table additions very well and pre- ordered appetizers were delivered as requested for the group to enjoy whole waiting for others to join. Thanks Kathie and Steve.
It was a nice treat for everyone. Sushi was a bit delayed but delicious nonetheless
