Too cold! They keep the restaurant too cold…doesn’t seem like a big deal but it becomes an issue when sitting f
La mesera que nos atendió súper amable, la comida estaba muy buena, solo que pedimos un platillo y una cerveza que no tenían y pues tuvimos que pedir otra bebida y platillo, pero todo estuvo ok
The happy hour menu on the weekends is gone. However, the food is still as delicious as always.
Our server was excellent! Food was OK. Id say 5/10. I had miso-sake seabass and for the price, I expected more. Hubby had the fish tacos, 7/10. Sushi was so-so. For a famous restaurant. They need to improve their food.
Everything was great!
Great dinner, nice server, cute patio.
Restaurant staff was not very good and was not attentive. No utensils and waited long time before the food was delivered. Desert was served before dinner was completed.
The waiter was so rude, we had come out for our anniversary and it was the first time we had a sit down meal in about 4 months. Needless to say we were pretty excited, our waiter introduced himself and then proceeded to walk by us and ignore us waiving at him and trying to get his attention for over 25 minutes. I finally had to ask another waitstaff if they could please give us another server because ours was avoiding us. She said of course and then proceeded to tell him we were upset and he came over shortly and was very disrespectful and short with us “do you finally know what you want to order” as if we were slowing him down or something. It’s sad we were going to get a few drinks and appetizers and celebrate our anniversary but instead we sat there miserable only ordered our main entree no drinks and left as quickly as we could. As we waited for our food he only came by one other time, I had nothing to drink for over 15 minutes my cup was empty. He finally came over poured water and without looking or speaking to us he walked off again. He unfortunately ruined our entire night and I highly advise anyone wanting to have a nice night out with someone never go here because by the time we got to the car (after asking for the check and to go boxes before finishing eating) my wife was borderline in tears asking what we did wrong. Needless to say we will never be back we had to pay over 80 dollars to be miserable on our anniversary and I advise you guys look for somewhere else the next time you want a night out as well.
Restaurant week is always a good time at Kona!
It was great I was placed indoors upon request but then asked to be outside. They more than okay to assist as I’ll admit it was chilly inside for me. Food was amazing and wonderful portion sizes.
We were hoping to sit on the patio and made a reservation but were called and informed that the patio was not open because there was a shortage of staff. I would prefer to sit outside while this variant spreads like wild fire. The restaurant was not really busy so I thought it wouldn't have been a big ask to have one server working on the patio.
Great food and really good Happy Hour and Restaurant Week prices. The restaurant could probably use some updating...
We enjoyed the food. It was fresh, hot, and well prepared. One of us ordered the Prime Rib. It was excellent, but the mashed potatoes are amazing! My only disappointment is that the Red Fish was out (again - same as the last time I was there), but the Trout (the substitute) was delicious. The only other concerns was that the dining area floor needed attention. Nevertheless, we always enjoy the food.
Great place. We had reservations and were seated right away.
Mackenzie was wonderful and was very attentive. They ran out of prime rib early but offered to substitute the surf and turf for the prime rib price. It was wonderful.
Service was just okay, our server failed to bring us utensils ahead of receiving our appetizer, in the days of covid, we were not planning to dig in with our fingers, chopsticks in advance of any dish would have been greatly appreciated. Otherwise the food and drinks were great!! Got the calamari, tuna tataki sushi (which had like a large lobster or nice real crab chunk inside) and spider roll. All the food was fabulous!! Also got a steel eel lemonade or something like that! Was delish!!
We went in a Friday at 3. The parking lot was full, and the noise level so bad, we could hardly hear each other talk.
Went there for happy hour and most of the food items in the list, they didn’t have. So once we got the food we ordered most of it was undercooked and cold. Said something to the manager about it and he didn’t care. He took the plate and said okay. He didn’t offer to make us a new one and we didn’t even touch any of the food on our table. We paid and left leaning the untouched food there. Very disappointed with how it was handled. If they just made the food again, it would of been okay. So we spent $20 on food we didn’t even eat because it was cold and not cooked all the way. Definitely would not be going back there ever again.
We finally tried Kona after many years, and as a part of Restaurant Week in San Antonio. We ordered the Surf and Turf which was different due to the surf being sushi, but both the filet and the sushi were excellent. The true and unexpected highlight was the carrot cake. Wow!!! It was amazing!! I loved the food, but I could find myself just going there for the carrot cake...AMAZING CARROT CAKE!
We enjoyed the Restaurant Week selections and had a great evening.
It was a good time I spent with my brothers and sister. Thank you very much! Look forward to getting together with y’all soon
This was a return visit and once again we were very pleased. The service was outstanding and our server, Mckenzie did her very best to make sure that we were delighted with her and the dinner.
I highly recommend Kona Grill for any occasion or simply to have a lovely dining experience.
The selection is enough to satisfy everyone who might want something different. The food was excellent. My only issue was our server. She may have been new so I didn't want to be too harsh and given how hard it's been for restaurant's to have enough staff. But she wasn't completely familiar with the menu and we ordered dessert to go, the check came and was paid but after waiting awhile I had to ask about our dessert. To which I can see her facial expression that she had forgotten all about it.
Bathrooms need some TLC. GYOZA was overpriced. Need small dish to mix soy sauce and wasabi.
Only wish was there would be pictures of the sushi rolls next to them on menu! Chose the wrong sushi roll and the picture may have changed our mind
Food was .... not good ..... The kona stir fry was a laugh... caned shrimp ... paying 26 dlls for that ....never again .
Thank you for your review. While we are unsure what caned shrimp is, we are sad to hear that you did not enjoy your meal. We would love to hear back from you so that we can learn and improve. Please give us a call at the store.
Everything was great with the exception of the noise level. Music was so loud we couldn’t have a good conversation with each other. We were a party of 8.
Thank you for your review. We are sad to hear that the music was not to an acceptable level. Please give us a call at the store so that we can learn and improve.
Just food wasn’t cooked as requested but the service was great!
Thank you for your review, we are sad to hear that your experience was not up to standards. We would love to talk to you further. Please give us a call at the store.
Food was meh, definitely overpriced for the quality and the server seemed annoyed by us… the only good thing was the drinks and even those were inconsistent - we won’t be returning anytime soon
Thank you for your review. Top to bottom, your review gives us pause and we would love to discuss further. Please give us a call at the store.
The food was fantastic and the service was great! We will definitely be back.
Thank you for your review, we look forward to seeing you again soon!
Excellent! We had made a reservation and they immediately sat us. I
Thought prices had increased in many dishes but it was worth it. Food was delicious! Definitely would go back! Great customer service and everything was wonderful.
Thank you for your review. We look forward to seeing you again.
The dining area was not clean and flies everywhere. Tables were not clean.
Thank you for your review. We would love to discuss your experience further. Please give us a call at the store.
First time at this location. Limited sushi menu compared to other Kona locations visited in the past. Food ok, slightly above average Asian cuisine. Tempura shrimp ok, sushi roll recommended by server was good, chicken stays, fried rice ok. Decent for lunch, probably would not return for dinner or another visit.
Thank you for your review. We would love to discuss with you further. Please give us a call at the store.
Over priced for small amounts of food but the margaritas were a hit made me forget about the over priced food
We arrived early for our reservation and were told there were no tables available. There was a table that needed to be cleaned right behind the hostess stand and when I inquired about it, we were told it was being held for the people who came in before us but they had no reservation. We were offered a bar table which is only meant for 2 people for our party of 3, otherwise we would have to wait an unspecified time. We were sat at this small table and Destiny who sat us said she would see if she could find us a table soon. Thank goodness right after we ordered drinks she came and told us she had a table available. I was very disappointed in the fact that we had a confirmed reservation and were told there were no tables available. Why have a reservation? After we were sat at a real table, the service was slow but the food was good. Not sure I'd go back to this location... The hostess I first spoke with was not empathetic to the fact that I was not happy that we had a reservation and they had no tables available. Thank goodness for the hostess Destiny who actually did the right thing.
Food was horrible , took everything in me to finish it, will not be returning
We had a great time at Kona Grill. Wonderful wait staff and very good food!!
At least one server needs more training. Our previous visits were much better. I’m confident that management will resolve this very limited issue.
