Everything perfect, great experience, just the lady’s restroom was kinda dirty
The calamari was extremely over-battered with little to no taste.
My 8oz filet was over cooked (I ordered it MR) and a bit dry.
Overall the portion and flavor of the food was not worth the value.
We were celebrating a birthday which I wrote a note on my app, and the experience was not special at all.
Everything was perfect! We ordered the Date Night Special and it was wonderful & affordable. Excellent service and drinks. Enjoyed ourselves to the fullest.
Great location and fun vibes. The Oriental Salad was delish!
Definitely recommend making a reservation, it is a favorite for locals and visitors :)
Plano location has better chef/food quality
Great dining experience. Servers fast, friendly and efficient without being intrusive. Intimate or family dining. Very pricey.
The trainee helped me out the most than the server … the server literally took forever it’s disappointing because I felt treated differently when I made reservations and tipped well I gave more tip to the trainee I think her name is Tracey (the trainee) she did everything to try to accommodate me while the serve was just there not even talking
Had to wait too long for table even though we had reservations, they need more staff.
Always great service, ambiance, and food! One of my fave spots!
Great happy hour! Great service. Love the patio, and the drinks were awesome. I’ll definitely be back again.
We were moved to a smaller table due to fewer folks in our original reservation.
Decor is nice. Service was ok. Some seasonal menu items were nice. Their happy hour is better and very popular.
Would have been okay except after 40 minutes of waiting for a single roll we cancelled it. Never got to taste it.
Made a reservation several days in advance for a large group but still waited over 40 mins past my reservation time to finally be seated. The limited menu was even more limited by the time we ordered (they were out of several food and drink options and so we had to keep changing our orders). The food was good, but over-priced for what you get.
My reservation was at 8pm and I waited 45 mins to be seated. The kitchen was behind so I had to order a side of fries while I waited for my entree. I didn’t receive my entree until 9:30pm. I ordered the stir fry with shrimp and it was lukewarm and honestly did not taste very good. The price did not match the quality. Overall my experience was poor. My waiter was nice and apologized for the inconvenience and my dining experience.
Xmas day very poor service
Reservations at 730 didn’t get table till 8 or after
It was the most horrible experience we have ever had. After traveling all day from Utah to Texas, we drove 40 min for what was going to be our Christmas dinner (with a reservation) only to sit for multiple hours to receive cold appetizers, they ran out someone of the items we ordered. It was a complete disaster! We had to actually leave 3 hours later without eating dinner and find somewhere else to go. Merry Christmas. Who ever ran that crap show should be fired.
TERRIBLE! We had reservations for 6:45pm. We were not seated until 7:15pm. We immediately ordered our food, as we could tell the server and restaurant staff had no idea how to run a restaurant on a busy night. An hour later, we left because our food NEVER CAME.
Our experience was an utter disaster.
When I approached the hostess podium to check in I was told we would have to wait AND sit outside on the patio despite having made a reservation over a week ago, because the restaurant was at capacity. We waited almost 30 minutes even though there was only one table of 4 on the patio. I inquired if there were heaters on the patio and was told yes only to learn only 2 of the 7 heaters were actually working.
Our appetizers and drinks came out within about 15 minutes, everything from there went downhill. About 2 hours after our reservation time, we were told by the sever that the kitchen was behind and was also out of 3 side items. After the server came to our table a few more times with only 3 of our 11 entrees, we asked to speak with the manager on duty, Ron. When we realized who the manager was (he had visited the other tables that had issues as well) we inquired about why he never visited our table to check on us as we had been there for almost 3 hours. His response was that we "looked" like we were fine. We challenged his observation as we had been seated for over 2 hours with no entrees at our table. By the time we left we had only about 55% of the food that we had actually ordered (mostly in to-go boxes).
We certainly understand these are different times but the restaurant was clearly not prepared for the Christmas crowd and should have paced seating walk-ins to better accommodate reservations at their pre-determined times. Additionally, there was a grave lack of professionalism and quality service from the ladies at the hostess stand and the manager on duty.
Considering it is Christmas, I gave them some leeway. But, it took over an hour to get our food. When we did, my ribeye steak was tough and cold. The butter didn’t even melt. They didn’t have clean steak knives. My friend liked his chicken stir fry but the sauce was too sweet and the portion size was really small. It also did not have carrots, cilantro or anything other than chicken and broccoli. They were out of the ingredients to make their signature pumpkin spice old fashioned. They put way too much dressing on the cob salad and the dressing wasn’t very good. The philly roll I ordered looked like it had been sitting for a while. Even the cucumber inside looked old. We ordered it as an appetizer but it was brought out with our other food. I think they were over booked and under staffed.
Absolutely a terrible disappointment! This was our Christmas dinner. We had reservations and waited over an hour for food. No bread nothing. Even though we asked for some and were told it was coming. My steak with lobster cream sauce was supposed to be well done and there was no sauce. We sent it back. Still pink, but it had sauce! My daughters burger was pink throughout. My dad’s ham was good but it was the tiniest portion I’d ever seen. The music was blaring and the service was disinterested.
Absolutely the worst service I have ever received at a restaurant. Had a reservation, still waited for a table for 20 minutes. Food took over an hour and came out cold. Food quality not worth process at all. Waiter was out to lunch completely. Never coming back. Disappointing all around.
Absolutely dropped the ball on Christmas Day. We had a 1:15 reservation and weren’t seated until 2:20, which meant we missed their brunch menu (the reason why we went). It was 3:00 before we got water. They were massively overbooked and had the hostess managing countless UberEats orders in addition to seating walk ins over reservations. They ran out of dishes because the dishwasher was broken, so they were serving their $30+ entrees in their to-go containers. It was an absolute mess. The server was basically telling us to leave because our food wouldn’t even be out for another 45 min anyway. We took the hint.
This review is not due to the hostess, who wad overwhelmed during a holiday, and needed more help. There was no signs of her general manager anywhere to assure customers of their concerns. Very sad to see the waitstaff be left out to handle things on their own.
For Christmas Day, it was a great experience. Our waiter was having to serve many tables but overall it was a great experience. The food was hot and delicious. The atmosphere was wonderful.
Christmas lunch was a very disappointing experience. They were overwhelmed. We had reservations but were seated 20 minutes later. Waited over an hour and forty-five minutes for our food. When it arrived it was wrong. We ended up not even eating together. I will say this. The manager was excellent as was our waiter. Honestly again…they had employees not show up or show up late. They endeavored to take care of us to make up for the fiasco. They personally went above and beyond in service. It was a bummer to have this experience with visiting family but I appreciate the staff’s honestly and effort to do their best to “make up” for things.
Christmas Day lunch - they sat us 15 mins late, no big deal, but then we waited 90 mins for our entrees. We left at the 2 hour mark and the food was still not even “half way” to getting to our table. They had limited staff but kept seating people and taking good orders when they knew they could not keep up. When we left, there were 30 people waiting at the doorway waiting to be seated! They should have said we can’t take anymore for lunch service.
So disappointing to have made a reservation and it take over 45 mins to get our food once the order was placed. People who were seated after us, had their food before us. No manager in site. I finally asked for one and he apologized for the service and offered to pay for our meal. 10 minutes lates, the waitress brought out bill for payment. Instead of waiting around to try and get her or a manger, we paid. Waitress did not seem to care a bit about the length of time it took to get our food. I tried to plan a special Christmas Day meal for me and my Dad since it is the 1st one since my Mom passed. Sadly, the experience was poor.
I am so grateful to have been a guest of Kona Grill’s on Christmas Day. I am very grateful for the servers, cooks and the hostess for making this Christmas memorable.
Pricey but really good food. Was Christmas morning brekkie for us and we had eggs Benedict and a spam omelette - fried potatoes exceptional and the rest very good.
We had the calamari, Christmas surf and turf special, chopped salad, and carrot cake. Everything was fantastic, even the seasoning on the calamari. The carrot cake portion is huge!
Manager & wait staff was great. Food was great….. sashimi, sushi, etc. personally didn’t love the calamari, but it was ok.
The Manager waited on us and gave us excellent service!
Pleasant service but very slow. Menu prices were absurd considering what was offered-$12 for 2 tiny pieces of nigiri? Crazy. Mentioned guest’s birthday but no one really wished her a Happy Birthday. Disappointing experience overall & left with hefty bill for small amount of food.
Came in 45 minutes early to our reservation to only receive 2 rounds of drinks, with the second one having a hair in the glass and by the time I could get attention of waitress to ask for another glass, my drink was warm. Never got to order food before our movie because it took from 5:43pm to 7:01pm to receive 1.5 drinks. Would not recommend and will not be returning.
Food is super overpriced compared to the quality. If you go during happy hour the food is more reasonably priced but the quality never changes. Staff is great though!
Great experience, easy to reserve, great service, good food but overpriced.
I’m not sure what it is about this location but they always get my salad order wrong. It’s frustrating because there is a more convenient location I go to since I live Far East of Dallas. They never offer to compensate me either for the mess up
Overpriced food. The manager took our soy sauce for some reason? The five piece tuna, while delicious, was not a full meal. Hostess was rude, we had a reservation.
Took over an hour to get our food. When it arrived, the salad was warm and the burgers were dry and overcooked.
We had reservations for 6:45, when we arrived at 6:30 we were told they weren't sure when we would be seated as the computers were down. The ladies at the front desk were a little overwhelmed by this glitch. We spoke with Ron Wendland, the Assistant Manger. and he moved swiftly into action and we were seated, served and amazed at the wonderful occasion. It made out holiday meal an outing we will remember.
