My sons birthday. Excellent service. Love the all day happy hour.
Overall terrible experience. I never write reviews but I’m in touch with corporate of how awful of an experience this was.
We made a reservation on open table and made sure to put in the comments we’d need a high chair. When arriving we were told there are no tables for high chairs and we’d have to use a booth but could use a booster. Unfortunately our daughter isn’t able to sit in a booster yet so we opted to just hold her. We were seated without menus. It took 10 mins to get menus from a waitress at the bar, then our waitress showed up a few minutes later. Once our order was taken it took almost 30 mins to get our appetizer, although the manager did comp this off our check. Overall the experience was fair compared to our experience at the San Antonio establishments.
The reservation was at 7:45 did not get seated till 8:15. hostess was very rude. Said party of whatever your table is this way. So not professional.
Drinks messed up twice. And very slow for not being busy.
We had a large group for a birthday celebration and they took great care of us.
Service was great. Angel and Fredo were the best server staff ever. Thank you for making my celebration a memorable occasion.
Food was wonderful as always but the service and wait for food was incredibly slow. We frequent Kona Grill and unfortunately the service seems to get worse with each visit.
Trip to COTA with the family. Visiting from Dallas.
Made a reservation for 8:45, got checked in with the hostess who told us we would be seated momentarily, then had us wait for 25 minutes until I asked how long the wait was. The table was ready the whole time and she just let us sit there.
Great place- Dasha (I hope I've spelled that right) was wonderful! Food was great as well. thank you!
I've been to Kona Grill in Alpharetta GA, and that experience was much better. The staff in Austin could use training. I made reservations for 14, several days in advance. This was for a business conference. I showed up with a coworker a few minutes before our reservation time, to be seated and order some wine and appetizers, etc. The hostess would not seat us until "at least 3 more of your party shows up". The restaurant was not crowded, and I assured her the rest of our party were 5 minutes behind us, but I was told no. While we sat in the lobby, someone walked in and almost tripped over the mat at the front door that had gotten flipped. The hostess saw it but did nothing. After a 2nd person tripped over it, I got up and fixed the mat. Again, the restaurant was not crowded at all and the hostess was not busy doing anything, she just didn't bother to do anything about it. All of this should have been my first clue this dinner would not go well. Our waitress took our drink orders (Two bottles of wine for the table), brought the wine glasses but no wine showed up until I asked again. Later, appetizers were brought and we asked for spoons so people could share, and she never brought them. At this point I found the manager and let him know she was obviously struggling. He brought us spoons and the 2nd round of drinks we were still waiting on. I had to track her down every time we needed more drinks - rather than her checking in on us. At the end of the meal, she brought me the check before desserts were delivered! I asked her if anyone wanted coffee with dessert, and she said "no one asked me for coffee". I suggested she offer coffee around the table, and I said I would wait to pay the check until we were sure everyone was done. She was friendly and I believe trying, but obviously didn't know some of the basics. The restaurant was not busy at ANY point in the evening. The sushi and other entrees were actually pretty good. A shame since we'll never be back.
Everything was delicious, and the service was great, but it's pretty overpriced still. $29 for a lunch portion of halibut, plain white rice, and green beans. Plus tax plus tip. Great food but if work wasn't paying for it, I wouldn't eat the entrees here.
Everything was great except for the Unami flatbread, very salty and strange flavor. The Mumbai chicken is very good, extremely recommend it. The Kona stir fry chicken is spicy and good but need to reduce the sodium amount, way too salty. Sushi is fresh and great. Grilled salmon is good too, my son liked it.
Service was ok. But overall experience was not great. And this was valentines day so I expected more. French fries wss cold. Manager had to substitute them for mashed potatoes. Beer wasnt cold and my wife rice in the jambalaya was cold
Our waiter( Larado) was great, the food was far better than expected I will recommend it and will also return often.
The Valentine's special (3 course meal for 2 for $60) and half price wine night coincided nicely for us in 2/13/19. The restaurant was very busy, with 2 large b'day parties and our server was a little overwhelmed. But the food was great (even if we had to cut a filet with a butter knife until another server brought us a steak knife) and the wine divine.
Recently gave Kona a second chance after being sent a gift card because of the first visit not going well. It’s been almost a year since the first time we went so we were excited to see if things had improved so maybe we could add this to our list of options. We were immediately greeted and we chose to sit on the bar side since happy hour would be in the next 20 minutes or so. We sat down at a round table and waited almost 10 mins and at no point did anyone come over to give us a menu or take a drink order. This happened to us the first time as well so we knew it was up to us to move somewhere where we may have a better chance. We moved over to be right at the bar counter where they had 2 bartenders. Our bartender is the only reason our experience was not as disappointing as the first time, and the only reason I’m giving a “decent” rating. Luckily we made it in time for happy hour and with our $20 gift card we were able to get several items for only $5 each. We were super excited but once we got our food the $5 per item made sense. We couldn’t even finish our 2 cheeseburger sliders, we lost all desire after biting into the bland extra dry patty. Our total after our gift card came out to about $10 and we were thrilled to not have spent anymore here. We called it even this time since most of our meal was covered. Our bartender was great but even she forgot to put in one of our food orders. By the time we realized We ended up telling her to forget about it after tasting the sliders. It’s not her fault, this place is clearly understaffed and has many problems. We’re just happy not to have spent an arm and a leg like we did the first time. Grateful for the gift card that we were sent but we don’t ever plan on going back. This place is just a disappointment to your wallet.
Kona Grill has never disappointed me! Great attentive server, great yammy food, live and fabulous!
Had an amazing time with some friends for happy hour!
We had a great time celebrating my birthday there. Will be back soon.
Our meals were great. Our waiter was pleasant, speedy, and made us feel welcome.
The menu is a hot mess -- feels more akin to a Greek diner in NYC ... you'll find sushi rolls and pizza and jambalaya all on offer. The sushi rolls were actually not bad but all of the other dishes were so greasy that you couldn't eat more than a few bites. Definitely won't be back.
We had the worst meal ever. The food was cold. I ordered the snapper. The fish that came out did not look or taste like snapper. The filet was overdone and cool. We will never go back to this place. The manager did comp our bottle of wine
I would have given this place 5 stars if it weren't for the hostess! The food and our waiter were amazing. The hostess was rude and seemed unsure of what her job duties were. We showed up 15 minutes prior to our reservation and told us it would be a 45 minute wait yet the restaurant was practically empty (maybe only 20% of tables occupied). We left and came back right at our reservation time and were seated. The restaurant continued to be empty, so I'm not sure what the 45 minute wait was about.
We made reservations at 4:00 as this was the only time available on NY Eve. When we arrived they rushed us and wanted to ensure we were all there. After we ordered it took over 45 min for the food to arrive. I ordered an appetizer and saw it sitting under the warmer for 15 min. It then showed up with the meal. Our food was served cold and the steaks were over cooked. The table next to us arrived after we did and were served their apps right away. The waiter seemed pretty new or maybe didn’t understand customer service. I ordered a drink and was told they did not serve it. My husband went to the bar and was served the drink there. The Manager showed up, apologized and made no concessions. The restaurant was pretty empty, so no excuse for the slow service and cold food.
We celebrated a birthday here at noon on New Year’s Eve. It was a great time to go. Not crazy busy and our server was very sweet and did a great job. Food was awesome, as always.
Great happy hour menu! All day Sunday!
Excellent experience overall. Delicious food and great service.
Food was not good. Apparently they are known for their reverse happy hour. Avoid the food.
One of the members in our party was served undercooked chicken, which was off-putting for the whole table and put a bit of a damper on our evening. Fortunately they comped the meal for him and his date, but it left a bad tasted in all of our mouths (though they still tried to partially charge him before comping the whole portion of their check). Luckily none of the other members in our group had an issue with undercooked food, but it brought the whole experience down a bit. Otherwise, would have been 5-stars.
I love this place and always have helpful people and the Picasso role is my go to. Although the pepper something roll was really really really good last time I was there.
Please get faster internet though. Cell coverage is Terrible inside and WiFi is achingly slow.
Average food, confused menu. Seems like they’re trying to be in too many areas without really being good at any.
Forget these reviews of 1 or 2 stars for things that have nothing to do with the service or food. Like the one about the carpet smell...sorry we were just there and no 'smell' as previously described. Food's great. So many different choices. only downside is that my waiter got one small thing wrong with my order but the food was great as usual. I've eaten here probably 30 times and have never had a bad experience.
When I arrived at the restaurant there was no host/hostess to greet me. A employee came running to greet me and directed me to my table. He did ask if I wanted to set at the bar, outside, or in the dinning room. I choose the dining room. My waiter was Chase who greeted me with a smile and I told him that two more were coming. As I waited, I noticed a smile coming for the restaurant. At first I thought it was coming form the kitchen being that my table was right next to it, but no. The smell was coming form the dinning room! The carpet to be precise. It’s smelled of humid moist mild of so kind. I asked to be move outside. Once my friends made it came to all of our attention that our water glasses had water marks, the waitress, who was ill-trained, knew hardly anything on the menu. So my friends and I left. I’m writing this review in hopes of a look into was to better service your customer, market your brand, and promote a better service environment.
The food was really good and all the stuff were very nice except for our waitress she was so rude I guess she had a bad day or something because she was treating us so bad
The dinning experience was OK, but nothing exceptional to warrant a recommendation.
Great happy hour all day Sunday good value
Delicious firecracker sashimi
It was fun!
