King's Fish House - Mission Valley
To create the ultimate seafood experience, we traveled down the highways and byways. We pulled up a seat, put on bibs, and soaked up the seafood experience: The no-name dishes with unforgettable flavor, the fresh-caught oysters and clams piled high, the hand-lettered specials on ancient chalkboards, and the savory simmer of every combination of spices imaginable.
The pleasure of preparing and sharing seafood was simple and genuine, and it brought out the best in everyone. Often, we felt as if we’d been welcomed into somebody’s home.
That’s what King’s Fish House is all about — and we’ve tried to bring all of these ideas together into one single, spectacular place, filled with camaraderie and celebration, and the things we love best. Welcome to the House that Seafood Built!

Waiter was great and the food was great. Oysters were tasty especially the ones that you can shoot. Highly recommended.
Crap cakes and calamari fried to perfection. So, tasty😁
Entrees sea bass and halibut so tasty. It would make you jump up and slap your momma!
Reservation for outside, host unable to accommodate
Four of us were there for Mothers day. We ordered two appetizers, jumbo artichoke, blackened shrimp taquitos, and they were both excellent. My wife had pan seared halibut and I had the sand dabs, both attractive and tasty. One son had the macadamia nut crusted halibut and the other had an oyster sampler platter again both excellent. The server was friendly and attentive. I highly recommend this restaurant.
I was not happy with the waiter announcing my name to the entire restaurant as he presented my bill.
Was great service and great food !! I was a happy man !!
It’s a very long time we have been. Very delicious! Great Mother’s Day treat!!
Friendly staff, great food and nice ambience. Perfect day for my family
We had an excellent server, Katie, and we were seated outdoors as requested. An umbrella was brought over so we could eat in the shade. We felt very accommodated.
I was disappointed with my fish (Mahi-mahi). It was cooked well, the problem was it was half blood meat and the consistency seemed like it had been frozen.
My Brussel sprouts and asparagus were both good.
It also seemed that it took awhile to get our order.
Katie checked on us several times for drinks, provided bread/butter for the table and was very friendly and quick to bring us any requests.
Desserts key lime pie, creme brûlée and chocolate ice cream were delicious.
Mother’s Day was a great time. Service was great. ST on the bar side of the restaurant. We watched the kitchen manager make seafood specials the whole time. Our server April was very friendly. Unfortunately April has to leave due to a family emergency. So two other servers covered for her. We hope April is okay.
I had the crab cake and seared tuna salad, both were very good and the server was very attentive and nice. I will go back.
From the time we walked in until the time we left customer service great. My host MARTIN was very attentive and informative thumbs up to my host MARTIN! If you want fanatic customer service ask to sit in Martins section! Martin made sure I had a great Mother’s Day. To the wonderful staff whom came out to speak to all the mothers thank you as well. I promise I will be back sooner than you think.
Nice place to visit once in a while. Spacious and family friendly.
The atmosphere outweighed the experience. My wife and daughters food were good. I ordered the yellow tail and I didn’t enjoy the experience. The waitress missed putting an order in for my daughter, and it took awhile to receive our food. We were welcomed to our table quickly, and we were thanked for coming in. It’s a one and done for me.
We enjoyed our experience. The food was excellent! The bread is delicious. Our server was very accommodating, friendly, and competent. We ate on the patio. It was very pleasant. We were a party of older people, and could talk comfortably. Our reservation was for 5:30, and we only got up from the table at 8:00pm. Highly recommend the kings restaurant, for excellent sea food!
Did not eat there. Showed up at reservation time (5:15) Was told they were booked until 8:30.
We enjoyed a fabulous dinner on the patio. It's always hard to choose from the extensive menu, and each meal was great. We always look forward to our dinners at King's, not only for the food, but the employees always make it more fun.
So happy to find out you guys were in Mission Valley because we used to go to Carlsbad all the time I just love your restaurant food is always awesome service is always awesome thank you
The experience overall was horrible. The server was rude, he actually raised his voice at me when I was asking if the extra shrimp would be fried. The entire party (my family) was surprised at his tone. He was very curt and short with us.
The food was pretty bad. It took ONE HOUR to receive our food after placing our order. The restaurant was not packed. The fried fish was bland, unseasoned and gross. The fries were cold when served to us. The steak was meant to be medium but was served well done and cold.
The environment was also very loud where it was difficult to hear the person next to me. The table rocked heavily and would cause our drinks to spill.
Waitress was amazing. Sand dabs were better than you’ve ever made them. New chef? The outside was crisp and the fish were divine. I wish you still served three as you did many years ago, but that is because I could eat 20!
Fish was very good though serving was skimpy. Silvia is an outstanding waitress, always on the move and checking back frequently.
Taylor was a great waitress. The food was magnificent. Everybody had a happy plate at the end of the meal with dessert!
Dining at the restaurant is always a pleasure! Food and service were great!
Always a pleasant meal. Like being with family. They treat us well. Food always fresh.
We took our co-worker to lunch for his birthday. Everything was perfect!
Kings is always a phenomenal place to eat. The cocktails are superb the service Excellent and fish is Always fresh... We love the oysters Along with A few Lemon drops.
Delicious blackened salmon, delicately seasoned garlic mashed potatoes and spinach. Meals here never dissapoint
Service great food ok smelled spoiled and not fresh threw away the king crab platter and mussel.
I had made the reservations weeks in advance, and when a member of the party arrived 15 minutes early, she was told the tables on the patio for 5 were not available. Extremely disappointing and frustrating.
We had the best time with our server and although there might have been a mistake because it was not our anniversary, she made us feel as though it was and it was great.
It was our FIRST date and we had a memorable time.
Our waitress Katie was outstanding and the food was delicious as always.
Great meal and service. I had the trout with grilled zucchini and carrots. very fresh, carrots were just crunchy enough, and the bread was warm and fresh....
The lobster rolls we ordered were very dry and chewy. When management came over to apologize they told us “they must’ve sat under the salamander too long while the fries finished cooking”. They did not take anything off of the bill but did offer dessert which we didn’t want sugar. Our server was great but we will not be returning. Disappointing dinner for having spent $75.
I really enjoy kings casual atmosphere and high quality seafood. Their lobster and filet combo is delicious! All seafood I have enjoyed their over the years has been super high quality and fresh. The staff is always really pleasant and helpful. The wine list is lovely and to the point. The sushi is excellent and they also have excellent sides. I love the variety of seafood they have on hand and that is often why I end up there
Food was cold, what ever red seasoning that goes over the lobster tail on one of the lobster was so much, the carrots had way to much seasoning. I go to the Calabasas on all the time and always get this dish. they food take over 45 minutes
Food was disappointing for the price....could have gone to a competitor in La Jolla for a much better meal at the same cost!
Service was abominabley horrendous and slow: not replacing silverware/napkins, lack of checking in with diners, not once during the hour and a half meal were our waters/sodas refilled, not once were we asked if we’d care for another cocktail, asking for the bill was an effort and getting them too process payment was even more of an effort. Food was less than fair and some of the hot foods were served cold.
This was our first time dining here and we were excited to try it out - sadly and as disappointing of a dining experience this became, we will be looking to other restaurants in the future for seafood.
Food was really good (as always) but service was a little slow, probably because it was really full. Nonetheless waitress was very amicable and apologized for being so busy aseverar times.
Taylor was an amazing server!!! The food was great!
Food was excellent. I always try something new and the Parmesan sand dag was wonderful!!
The food was excellent, the server was great. Overall, no complaints. The oysters were nice and fresh and the bAlaskin Halibut was delicious. I only wish I'd had time for dessert.
