Length of dining experience was much too long 2 1/2 hours. Our server was competent and engaging but the time between courses was too long and it took an hour to get our first course The quality of the food was not in keeping with our past experiences we had eaten there at least five times previously and this time the quality of the food was not in keeping with the cost. We were somewhat disappointed.

The service by the waiter was excellent. The changes made to the menu were in poor taste. The soup was served cold and water down (peanut soup). The game pie lacked flavor, sustain and lacked the original recipe that we had enjoyed over many years coming to the Kings Arms. If it is not broken, don't fix it. It has given us second though of eating there again. We also cancel our dinner plans later in the week at the Kings Arms.

The server I had was fabulous. He explained the dishes and some history as well. But my soup, prime rib, and vegetables were all cold. Every dis was delicious but cold. I did not complain because I was in a hurry to get to my evening events but I was extremely disappointed!

Prime rib for adults and kids was terribly tough and cold. Mashed potatoes were certainly boxed. Vegetarian entree (farrow and pumpkin) was also cold and flavorless. We had a fantastic server however and both the salad and desserts were great- as was the ham appetizer. We heard the musicians for maybe 5 minutes and were seated in the left side of the building in a dark and unadorned room with about 4 tables. Dinner for 2 adults and 2 children was ~350. Gratuity was included but that was unclear. Would not recommend and would not return.

Delicious food and excellent service. New menu that has some old favorites still. Now any entree can become a 3 course meal. Definitely try the peanut soup! Prome rib was very well cooked and very flavorful The only complaint I have is it's really expensive. I was celebrating, so I ordered the prime rib. With a root beer for a drink, my total for 1 person without tip was 80. Tip put it at 100. I could have gone to outback and had something relatively similar for half that. You're definitely paying for the experience as well as the food.

Striving to give friends a delightful colonial dining experience, turned out to be an epic fail at the Kings Arm Tavern last night. I have a food allergy and when making reservations, I always notify of the allergy. Occasionally, restuarants will respond and say they can’t accommodate. Having eaten at Kings Arm in the past with success, and not hearing from them, we arrived prompty for our reservation. A roaring fire provided the perfect ambiance along with a musician. Our waitress was most helpful in talking with the kitchen about which dishes I might order. My husband and I ended up ordering the trout, which she said the chef said he could make another sauce for without alliums. Our starter was the Westphalian ham -excellent. Our friends ordered the salad, which they said was very good, the peanut soup, OK and the blackeyed peas, which were way underdone. After our starters, I think it was the manager who came around and asked how our meal was. I said it would be nice if one of the dishes could be prepared without garlic and onions. He said the wait staff knew more about that. Then he asked where we were from. Our friends were visiting from TX. He told them what a wonderful governor they have. The conversation was uncomfortable, as they are not supporters of Greg Abbot and his politics. The manager was of NO help to our table. Our entrees arrived. Our trout dishes had no sauce with them. A friend also ordered trout, which had to be returned because it was not done. Our other friend ordered the game pie which he enjoyed. Needless to say we did not order dessert. We spent a lot of money and energy for an almost-totally dissatifying meal. I would not reccommend going to Kings Arm Tavern at all.

Prices for entrees seemed to be at least ten dollars higher than they were a year ago. Service was exceptionally slow. We had a concert scheduled after dinner, so, an hour and fifteen minutes after arrival we asked the server to bring dessert and the check when she brought the main course. When we left a half hour later, she was just taking dessert orders from other tables in the room. Perhaps the restaurant needs more staff.

We arrived at 7:15pm with 7:30pm reservations, but were not allowed to enter until at least 7:45 and then waited, still standing, for about 4 to 9 minutes inside. Then we were seated in a doorway to a hall leading to another dining room. No, truly, we were seated at a table directly in front of the doorway. Wait staff regularly scurried past my elbow throughout the dining experience. By the time the first course arrived the bread was all gone and some hunger pangs transformed to bellyaches while others led to a loss of appetite. We were granted two apologies before the second course arrived, and we left at 9:57pm, having opted to carry the third course to our hotel room as the children (excuse me, one child and an 11yo "adult") were fading. Had the timing not been abominable, the meal might have been quite enjoyable. And if the bill had been 1/3 of the fee we paid, I might not have felt the need to be honest about this sorry performance.

We were a bit disappointed this year attending the Thanksgiving event. I had the prime rib and asked for it to be medium rare but came medium with no pink. We had a problem with the new server although nice didn't seem to know that this event was prepaid and we were brought a bill that was for patrons that stayed at the hotel. It took a long time for her to return to get this straightened out. Food is okay...it is the atmosphere that you are paying for and we ended up in what was like an attic space.

Dined here on Thanksgiving and while it was enjoyable, it took way too long. We had reservations at 7:15 and were seated shortly after but didn’t finish dinner until 10. There was apparently an issue in the kitchen between the first and second course leading to long delays. Dinner finally arrived at 9:15 and was not hot, but warm. They were apologetic and we appreciate all of them working on Thanksgiving. If you are considering Thanksgiving here in 2024, I recommend an earlier seating or be sure to allow for a longer dinner. The staff were all extremely friendly and informative but I think everyone was getting a little tired by the time we got to 9.

Our favorite place to dine in Williamsburg. Maybe we've been there too often so it's less magical ~ but our last few outings, including Thanksgiving ~ have been rather average. Food quality is so-so; why is the dessert menu not using more fresh local fruits and more creative choices?; last 3 waiters have been dull (Steven on Thanksgiving was so joyless and didn't seem aware of special requests made in advance). Food is paramount, but the waiters can make or break the experience. Thanks for listening. We will still always cherish Kings Arms.

We made reservations in August for Thanksgiving week at the Kings Arms. We ate there for Thanksgiving week in 2022 and thoroughly enjoyed it, Good food, good service and nice, quiet, cozy ambiance. I'm a vegetarian so I checked the menu and they still had a wonderful butternut squash dish that I had enjoyed last year. Upon arriving for our reservation, we were stuffed in a small room with three other tables that barely had walking room between them. I had no problem listening to any conversation in the room. It was loud, distracting and definitely not private and cozy. Next came the menu and we learned that it had just recently been changed. The only vegetarian entree was a pie that layered apples and onions together, not very appetizing. I talked with the waitress about food choices and told her my stomach didn't do well with onions. So, she suggested the black eyed pea stew. Forty-five minutes later when it arrived, I took a bite and my first mouthful had onions. Good thing I didn't have a food allergy or it could have been a bad scene. Instead, I just went hungry. My wife's food was mediocre and dried out. Not at all what we experienced last year. The tab, with tip, came to over $100 and I walked out hungry and disappointed. When I tried to bring up my disappointing experience with the gentleman asking how our evening was, it was basically brushed off and we were sent on our way with a "Happy Thanksgiving". From start to finish, an unpleasant experience and , I'm sorry to say, our last. And that's unfortunate, because we are donors to Williamsburg and have come to expect a quality product and experience when visiting, particularly since we drove up from Florida to be here for Thanksgiving. Unless things change, I could not recommend them.

Service was great and ambience delightful My dish was lukewarm and had pieces of fat and skin for the duck pye. Bread serving basically thick wonder bread - would assume that period had a crusty bread. Side for bread creative and fun. Vegetables hard and mashed potatoes sticky and thick. Partners dish good but again the broccolini hard. Wine - first glass good but refill suspect of another wine and bad. Overall they have a good thing going but need to work on some things
