My wife and I had a great evening at Kings Arms. The ambiance is colonial and authentic with terrific food and spirits. My only recommendation to the Kings Arms is if possible to light the gorgeous fire place. That would have topped off the night but we will definitely be back and highly recommend it. Staff was fast and very friendly.
Seems like more and more things are taken away but $$$ stay the same. But with attendance down so much and Blue State restrictions I guess it is to be expected.
Server was good, food was very good this time. No mention of birthdays this time despite being part of reservation information.
I got the prime rib and it was fantastic. My wife got the game hen and said it was OK, and the crabcakes were OK. Our friend got the filet and absolutely loved it. Overall the meals were very good, the atmosphere was excellent, definitely recommend for the colonial experience.
The ambience was great service was good food was average price was ridiculous
Wonderful restaurant. I come here for the Game Pie. It is delicious and unique. All of the food is of the period. The peanut soup is fantastic. I enjoyed the sweet potato bread with the toppings- a chopped ham, a pickled corn or butter. I think they have the best menu of all of the restaurants in Williamsburg
Absolutely love the King’s Arms. The ambiance and service is wonderful! The food is always delicious! We have made it a family tradition of dining there on our yearly trips to Williamsburg.
Very authentic atmosphere. Food and service was pleasant.
The food and service were outstanding as they always are! My wife and I have eaten there in the past and would eat there again in a heartbeat. We will be eating there when we go down for Thanksgiving in about a month.
A unique experience and my favorite tavern in CW. You won't forget it!
Hats off to our server/hostess for service which was extraordinary. I believe her name was Sherry and she was an absolute delight. The interior lighting was poor as I couldn't see what I was eating. The potatoes were burned and almost inedible, had trouble cutting through the skin with the knife and fork.. Portions were small for the price - however, the prime rib was cooked to perfection.. The peanut soup was enjoyable as was the wild berry crumble. Old Stitch ale went with the meal perfectly.
The King's Arm did surprise my son for his birthday by bringing in his desert topped with a candle and led everyone in our small dining alcove into a rousing For He's a Jolly Good
We enjoyed our time at Kings Arm Tavern! The food was good but not great. It was nice to keep the authenticity with low lighting but it also makes it more difficult to read the menu & bill. Did they really have such little light?
We loved having dinner here! Wonderful staff and amazing dessert! 10/10!!!
Our family was on vacation to Williamsburg and thought it would be a great historic dining experience. It was great Thanks.
A very fun place to eat. The food was unique and very good. Great experience. Highly recommend.
I had been here many years ago and it was good. I’d have to say the food was mediocre at best. Everyone was very nice. They even moved us to a different table when a loud family sat quite near. It’s very dark and they are not allowing candles anymore. Don’t know how that will play out when the time changes next week.
Ambiance was excellent. Prime rib was perfect, but not a large portion. Enjoyed the Game Pie, but it could have contained more meat and vegetables. This is a good place for a date night, but know you are paying for ambiance over food quantity. However, the quality was superb. This is not a place for small children. It grows dark inside as the night progresses.
The three small children across from us became quite agitated as the room darkened. Their discomfort became our discomfort. It was an overall good experience and I would return, but I'd have a light snack first.
Great meal in authentic colonial atmosphere. Food and service were excellent.
We had a fantastic dinner. The service was exceptional. Our server was fun and really made the experience. The food was absolutely fantastic! We brought our 4 kids and you definitely want to steal a bite of your kids macaroni and cheese. It’s amazing!
The Tavern dinner (prime rib) was excellent! My husband and I split it which was about the right amount.
Well organized establishment. Food was good but not great. Very dark Inside and and a little hard to see the menu.
Delicious food and good service but very expensive. Very disappointed at the decision to use electric candles vs real. This has ruined the authenticity and overall ambiance and directly impacts my desire to return. And sadly no musicians during COVID. But the returning staff were very appreciative of returning customers.
We ate here 35 years ago on our honeymoon and returned on our 35th anniversary. We enjoy the good food and the ambience! Always a pleasure!!
This is our 2nd visit to King's Arm and it might have been better than the first. The food is exceptional and the experience is well worth the price. The knowledge of the wait staff is incredible and I love that they have a story for each menu item. If you enjoy a slice of history while enjoying a fantastic meal, this is your place!
Pork chop delicious and very large. Game pie unusual but quite good with flaky pastry. Cocktails excellent. Servers shared fun history tidbits. Jefferson bread pudding has warm bourbon sauce - very good!
The service was a little slow but experience was amazing and so was the food! Our waiter was great as well :) will definitely return!
While it may be related to the Coronavirus pandemic -- isn't everything? -- Kings Arms didn't use its colonial dinnerware, which was a little disappointing. Also, although diners can have their beef dishes cooked to order, that option wasn't available for the pork chop. As a result, it was overcooked even though I asked to have it done medium rare, 135 degrees. Still, the food was good and the atmosphere was late 1700s.
So good! My only critique is they got rid of the delicious chocolate cake
What an experience! Our waiter was very attentive and did a great job explaining the menu and providing additional historical details. Food was tasty and unique as were the drinks. Only negative was it was very dark and a bit on the cold side. I kept telling myself it was a part of the experience but felt the goal could have been achieved with a bit more light and heat.
We ordered the prime rib meal and the meat was super delicious and a large serving. The peanut soup was also good. The vegetables were served el dente which is not my preference. The dessert choices were great. All in all a wonderful experience.
We had a lovely time and enjoyed eating dinner by candlelight, a throwback from earlier times. Our waiter was very attentive. Thank you for a great time! We will definitely be back!

Very cool restaurant. Loved that it was lit with candle light the colonial dress, my biggest disappointment was that they used sliver wear from today and not mugs from the past to drink in. I would have given 5 starts if it was completely authentic. All the food was good and I loved the history about the spreads.
Everything was great, I loved that our server, John, gave us a history lesson while we ate, it was overall fantastic. I rated the noise level as higher because my 2 noisy toddlers were very heard in this space as there were only 2 other tables in the room. Hopefully they weren't too disruptive. My 4 year old said the macaroni and cheese was the "best thing he ever ate" and he wanted to come back every day for it!
The peanut soup is out of this world too, such a treat and something you won't find anywhere else.
Outstanding food! The game pie was great and my wife had the fresh fish special which was great. The service was great. My wife love's tea and they serve it the way it should. I had Old Stitch which is a wonderful brew! Topped it off with fantastic pecan pie and bread pudding for dessert along with some 20 year old port. They can be expensive but well worth it!!!
The food was so good, I just wished there was more. Our server, Sherry, was wonderful and I thoroughly enjoyed my dinner.
The food was excellent - prime rib done just right for my husband and a new fish, corvina, for me. The sauce was light. Do not miss the peanut soup, something we always have at the Kings Arms. Desserts were out of this world - warm, moist bread pudding with a light custard sauce and a chocolate cake that was like eating a candy bar. A terrific evening of dining with excellent service. So glad the restaurant has reopened. The room had only three tables spaced well apart. Felt comfortable. Our first indoor dining since March!
Did not disappoint! Great experience. A little chilly in rooms so bring sweater and dark inside due to limited lighting just at tables. Wish they would bring back real lighted candles.
We had a nice dinner with their specialities such as peanut soup, brined pork chop, hunters game pie. The peanut soup was surprisingly very tasty. Our waitress was very knowledgeable on the history of the tavern and told us some interesting stories.
The only drawback is lack of lights in the dining rooms. We used our phone flash light option to read the menus.
King’s Arms is our favorite restaurant in Williamsburg. We have never been disappointed.
Service excellent, food ok. They had just reopened and had not figured out the lighting so it was very dark
