Keoki's Paradise Ratings and Reviews
The concierge at our hotel recommended Kioki's and we're glad they did because it was a close drive from hotel, had great live music, wonderful service, and delicious food. The restaurant is deceiving from the outside because it's pretty large when you get in. When we sat down we were tested to live music from "John and The Other Guy" who had beautiful voices and mixed Hawaiian tunes with mainstream songs sung with Hawaiian flair ("Hotel. California" and "Sunday Morning" by Maroon 5 were 2 of their choices). Our waitress, Sofia, was awesome. Super friendly and attentive. She convinced me to try the kale salad because she said the kale was different than what we have on the mainland (Hawaiian kale is softer and has a nuttier flavor), and she was right. It was delicious! My husband had the short ribs and Sofia brought out a knife and told him if he had to use it to send the dish back because it should be falling apart without a knife. Luckily, he didn't need the knife because the short ribs were so tender. I had mong chong with garlic and basil (so tender and didn't even taste like fish) over rice pilaf. The restaurant then gave us a complimentary "hula pie" for dessert for our anniversary (so good!). Definitely recommend!
Overall disappointing. Our server was really bad. It was a two hour evening which should not have taken that long. We were not greeted properly by the server. He walked up and asked us if we were ready to order??? No drink offer? When we did order our appetizer came even before our drinks. He never explained the menu or offered any specials? We had to ask what the catch of the day was. The food was actually good though. Tasty, and nice fresh fish. But was just very annoyed with our server. Dinner supposed to be an experience.
Extremely disappointed as this was our anniversary dinner! Service started good as the waiter told us to leave room for a special dessert for our anniversary. There was no real bread, it was more like a carrot cake as bread. The Mai Tai's were the worst mai-tais we ever had. Ordered a filet and the lobster tail, the lobster tail was chewy and the filet was so-so. The waiter was not attentive during our meal and never checked to see if we enjoyed the food. Then to top it all off he never even remembered the desert he offered in the beginning. The Ambiance is beautiful, but what is that without the rest! We will never go back!
Nice place to eat. Service was very friendly. Had a rib eye steak as an antree. It was an almost perfect one. It came medium rare as ordered and was so tender, one could almost cut it with the fork. It came with greathome made mash an fesh green beans.
I can only recommend the place.
One of the best values in poipu is Keoki’s Chefs Tasting Menu. It’s actually a three course meal and you can choose from options for each of the three courses. ...and is served until 5:30pm.
Not only is it excellent value for money based upon other local restaurants, but my meal was absolutely delicious. For the starter I had the Caesar salad, main course was garlic and Mac nut encrusted sword fish with rice and steamed carrots...and because we were celebrating our anniversary, we were upgraded on our dessert to their famous hula pie. All this for $24.99.
We went there over Thanksgiving and they were extremely busy. We got there about 5 minutes before our reservation time and the hostess was swamped. I knew from scouring the room that we were going to get a unfavorable table location up top where all the servers would be walking back and forth from the kitchen. After getting a device that lites up when the hostess was ready to seat us I sent my wife downstairs where the performer was to see if there was a table for two. She came back saying it was full so I went back to the hostess saying we are only a table for two and were there on time (actually early)and want a table downstairs and don't want to wait for people who were showing up late for their reservation to jump in front of us. I was told that they were busing a table for two and I told the hostess we would wait for it. We got seated downstairs by the performer and had a great dinner. The manager came by just to make sure we were happy. We had a nice talk and I gave the server a 30% tip. The next table for 2 that they sat got the lousy location upstairs that I'm sure we would have gotten if we hadn't been demanding.
Although we made a reservation a day in advance we had to wait 20 minutes to be seated. Our server was prompt, courteous, and knowledgeable re the menu. The food was excellent with good portion size--not too much, but enough to be very satisfied. We split on piece of hula pie 3 ways, and still had plenty.
Had Thanksgiving dinner with the family and friends. Our waiter, Tony, was fantastic. So pleasant and helpful. Gave lots of detail on the fish choices and helped some of the group who were unsure to make the right choice. The fresh fish was excellent and while not cheap, I feel the value was good. Highly recommend.
We had dinner here on Thanksgiving and the traditional Thanksgiving special menu was awesome. We were professionally greeted by the manager, seated at our reservation time, and then promptly greeted by are very friendly waitress Kinsey. She explained the specials precisely and thoroughly, brought fun and smiles to our experience and interacted extremely well. To top off our meal we had the pumpkin hula pie .......awesome! Don't change a thing and keep up the good work. The most consistent restaurant on the island of Kauai.
Excellent food, service was spot on. Tony are server was extremely friendly and professional my kids talk about Tony and how cool he is. Food was superb. Highly recommended we used open table and didn't have to wait at all great service. The Daggett family will be back for sure.
We ate at Keoki’s Paradise while on vacation. Our food was delicious, the service was top notch, and they gave us a hula pie dessert on the house since my husband and I were celebrating our anniversary! We will probably come back again before our vacation is over! Highly recommend it!
We visited twice in one week, lunch once and our last dinner on island. We had tried much higher reviewed places and places twice as expensive, but we really just wanted some good times to savor till our next Kauai visit. Staff was good and eager to help and please, server especially helped with menu and wine pairings and choosing appropriate dietary concerns. Live music played and crowd seemed upbeat and having a great time. We will visit again for solid Kauai fish favorites. Ambience may seem inauthentic to some but families and fun loving people will enjoy the easy atmosphere as we did.
Overall a great experience and more value for the money than most of the other fine dining experiences. Very good service, excellent ambience. Make sure you place a reservation just in caes because it's a popular choice for obvious reasons. Highly recommend but leave the kids behind so you can take it all in and relax.
A true treasure! Wasabi (Moon Fish) was fantastic as was everything else. The staff bends over backwards to ensure a great dining experience. The view? Unbelievably gorgeous! The only negative thing is if you get a good table at sunset -- you will be engulfed by people taking pictures!
We stumbled on Keoki's on our last day on the island, and kept wishing we would have discovered it earlier. The decor was tropical and very relaxing. The food was excellent. We had the bbq pork sandwich which was delicious and filling. The Ceasar salad was a bit small but very good. I know we will definitely revisit this place on our next trip.
Service was hit and miss and somewhat slow. Cocktail waitress brought my glass of wine and said to me: Here is your Sauvignon Blanc. I told her that I ordered a glass of Pinot Gris and then she said what she gave me was the Pinot Gris (and it was). Food was good, but it came out very slowly. Music was nice and would have been nicer if the musician had not talked so much. It appeared that somebody cared for his explanation which was also ver6 difficult to understand.
