Amazing food and service!
Atmosphere was very good. Food tasty, but portions relatively small for the price. Wait staff and bus help were all very good and attentive.
This was such a great experience. The tables and chairs were very comfortable adn the food was fantastic. Thank you
Very very noisy
Service was ok but waiter couldn’t open the wine and then served red wine in an ice bucket!! I guess they are short of trained staff these days like all restaurants.
Crispy tuna was big disappointment as usually is so good.
Sweetcorn way over priced
Sadly, nowhere near as good as pre pandemic. I used to love the place.
Katsuya is one of my all time favorite restaurants! So happy to be back after a few years due to Covid
Visiting LA, we were looking for a great Japanese restaurant. Service was pretty good except we had to wait 30 minutes for a table despite being on time for our reservation. The noise level in this place is way beyond “energetic”. It’s deafening. Food was pretty good but pricey. Three stars overall.
The food was great! I thought some of the prices for gyoza and edamame were a bit much, but the food was terrific! The restaurant was modern and club esthetic.
Delicious food. Great all around.
Too noisy . It was impossible to have a normal conversation without raising the voice.
Brought my family here for my birthday. Food was good, atmosphere great, but service a little sub-par. We had to ask for our drinks three times and never received two of them. The meals were brought separately by other waiters and were quickly set in random places on the table. One of our dishes was dropped so it was comped, which was nice, but I would have preferred to eat it fresh vs out of a to-go box because it came after dessert was already being eaten. Overall it felt very bumpy and rushed. It was early on a Friday night and the restaurant was only half full so I'm not sure why we had so many issues. Still one of my favorite restaurants but don't think we'll be rushing back anytime soon.
Very pleasant. Glad it reopened.
This was my 2nd time here.
1st time there we had mediocre food with good service. I thought to myself that maybe I ordered the wrong things on the menu but I was EXTREMELY wrong.
Everything else on my 2nd time was just as bad, if not WORSE. They continue to rush the food out without a constant quality control system. Everything we ordered this time was either overcooked and cold on the inside for our hot dishes and our sushi and rolls were tasteless.
Sorry guys, no 3rd chances here.
Beyond excellent service, delicious food and an absolute hip choice to indulge before seeing a production at Pantages-just across the street!
Everything was great but they were also Incredibly fast, specially after we mentioned that we were going to the Pantages Theatre for a show.
Really good meal, just a casual Tuesday night out. Only complaint had to be the server never took our drink or food order. Had to talk to a sushi chef/ other server so we could actually order.
Run don’t walk out the door and never come back. We went with high expectations. We’ve been to the one in Brentwood before and it’s wonderful. And the minute we got here we could tell things were a bit of a disaster. The edamame came cold. My husband ordered rolls without rice — waited 25 minutes and they came with rice. Then it took another 10 minutes for the server to tell us that they could not make rolls without rice, rather they could only do hand rolls without rice. Then….we waited another 20 minutes for them and his Diet Coke by the way and they never came. We only got my sashimi plate. I never got my roll….the waiter was running around in circles….We left frustrated without fully eating. It was horrible. They comped the meal after I suggested such an outcome. Multiple tables around us we’re all being served the wrong food. Some dishes came to our table that we never ordered. Everyone seemed frazzled. It was a disaster.
Service was not great-server was less than attentive. Water glasses sat empty for a long time-items came out separately with one item missing and server was clueless.
Great place for sushi very close to Pantages. However, beware, prices are way higher than they should be. There was also a table of other Katsuya employees from the Brentwood location bad mouthing the management that we could hear. Probably not the right place to air complaints.
The service was top notch. From the hostess to the busers the service is outstanding. Cocktails we're also excellent. All of the appetizers were delicious. The peppers were our favorite. Tomahawk short ribs were amazing. Super tender with tons of flavor. The crab hand rolls were pretty good. Everything else was average. Certainly not worth the pricetag.
La comida está regular, el servicio también está regular
Small and expensive portions. I love the restaurant itself, good music, nice ambiance but I’d say there’s definitely better places to get sushi
Excellent service and sushi was great! Tables are a little low and it’s a little to dark but great for a date.
My wife’s 40th. Our server was amazing and we only went off his recommendations.
Great ambiance sushi was great. Service could be better.
My absolute favorite Sushi Restaurant in Hollywood! Directly across from the famous Panteges Theatre. Beautiful atmosphere....perfect service.....and absolutely the freshest and most delicious Sushi!
The food was tasty, though the portions were stingy. No printed menu available; I hope your phone is big enough and you have good reception. I ordered a 500 mL bottle of sake which was on the menu. I was told that there was another bottle which was "a few dollars more" which was available. I asked if the size were the same, and the waitress said yes, but when she brought the bottle is was 300 mL, so I sent it back. She said there was another 500 mL bottle which was "a few dollars more" so I ordered it, although when I got the bill it was almost twice the price. I don't like being either baited and switched nor lied to, so I won't be back.
We will absolutely go back to Katsuya. The food was delicious and the portions were bigger than we expected. We had the crispy and crunchy slaw and Wagyu dumplings to start and they did not disappoint. What a combination of flavors in the Wagyu! We were really surprised and loved the spicy tuna crispy rice mix of textures! And we closed with the Rock Shrimp Tempura. It was very good, but we’d probably try something that wasn’t fried next time because the flavors in all the others dishes were so good without needing to be fried. It was a busy theatre night so there was a bit of lag time between courses, but our server had helpful suggestions and was she made our experience better with her guidance. The lights were so low until minutes before we left that even using our phones on their lowest brightness to use the menu made your eyes struggle to adjust when looking up across the table because it was so dark again. This was random, but by no means a reason not to come back!
Food was very good, fresh and brought to the table in a timely manner for the most part. Katsuya roll and Special Spicy Tuna roll were both beautiful and delicious. Unfortunately we also ordered the spicy tuna crispy rice which never arrived until we had already finished dinner and our wine. The waiter apologized and comp'd the crispy rice and the manager came over to apologize. She also offered to comp a glass of wine each which was nice but after waiting 10 minutes we paid the bill and left. The restaurant was not particularly busy and perhaps they are experiencing some growing pains since reopening but those glitches took away from an otherwise good experience.
Check-in was easy, Sat at the bar and ordered an Old Fashion, and Wine. Joshua made a killer Old Fashion. Dinner was amazing and tasted great. Tomahawk short ribs, Chicken fried rice, and Shrimp roll was delicious. Sam was our waiter and took care of all our needs. Drinks and food are a little on the pricey side but hey you are in Hollywood and you might even see a celebrity.
My boyfriend and I went on a double date with my friend and her fiancé and we had a great time! It was all of our first time going to Katsuya so we enjoyed it. The drinks were soooo good (highly recommend the Katsuya Fresh) and the food was just as amazing. We’ll definitely be back for another date night, very happy I made a reservation!
Menu is much more limited than Glendale’s and can only be viewed on your phone.
Visited with myself and 6 members of my family after seeing the matinee for Hamilton. The service was very quick and our waitperson was very patient with the multiple people ordering. We enjoyed the food and the extra birthday dessert that they brought for my youngest niece. We came a the perfect time of day to get the experience that was best for us.
Would’ve liked more sushi roll ideas on the menu.
Excellent ambience, excellent food and excellent service.
Our server was fabulous. He made sure we were taken care of and always followed up after food was delivered. He also gave recommendations on what to order. The dessert was heavenly. Would definitely eat here again.
Great service, phenomenal food quality. We went to this restaurant before seeing Hamilton at the Pantages. It was an awesome experience!
We loved the food! Informed them we had a show to see and food was delivered promptly realized later we had ordered and paid for 2 entrees that were not delivered. Would we return to this restaurant……. Yes!
