Katsuya - Hollywood Ratings and Reviews
Went to Katsuya before seeing Hamilton at the Pantages Theater based on Open Table reviews and was not disappointed. Probably the absolute best hand rolls I have ever had. The Katsuya Special Roll was just OK and you can find that type of roll at almost any sushi restaurant. The Shredded Chicken Salad was to die for highly recommend this dish. Overall very enjoyable dining experience. We will be back!
We had tickets to see Hamilton at the Pantages Theatre which is across the street. There were six of us and we were given a small private room, which I did not request, but which was a great surprise and very pleasant. The service was great. We shared the Omakase Geta, the Rock Shrimp Tempura, the Wagyu Tepanyaki and the Black Cod. All of which was delicious. The prices are on the high side but well worth it for a special occasion.
We went to Katsuya after going to the pantages to see Hamilton. It was convenient and the ratings were good. I agree with the food being decent but the service is nothing special. Too crowded to get good service. Drinks came after the appetizers which is another sign of bad service to me!
Most of the food was fantastic but one dish was lacking and they took it back. Service was excellent. VERY expensive. They overbooked so we had a bit of a wait despite a reservation which was difficult because we were seeing Hamilton afterwards but their efficiency made up for it
Went before the theatre. Got in and out in plenty of time. Food was good...not great. Service was excellent. Some of the dishes that they are known for were better at other restaurants!!! But, still, it's a fun place...and really a great place to eat prior to seeing Hamilton at the Pantages...but there is better sushi elsewhere.
This meal was very memorable. All the food was amazing, well presented, and delicious. We ordered from the specials--and really liked the spicy tuna with mushrooms and the brussel sprouts. Food came quickly, which helped for being ready to go to the theatre.
This was my first trip to L.A. and our friend recommended Katsuya. We’ve thanked them a lot since going there. We got there a bit early so grabbed a seat at the bar, got some cocktails which were amazing and orders a couple of appetisers.
I can safely say we’d both travel back to L.A. simply for more of the Crispy Rice with spicy tuna.
We had the lobster roll and the wagyu with foie gras. Both we utterly delicious and well worth the money.
The value was great, the portions weren’t huge but you shouldn’t expect them to be it’s a sushi based restaurant.
An awesome experience. 10/10 would recommend.
We were here to celebrate a 50th birthday and had reservations through Open Table for 7pm. They were very accommodating when we arrived early at 6:30pm and seated us in a "private room," kind of like an alcove. Food and service was great but would have preferred the music be turned down so that we didn't have to strain to hear each other over the music. Music was great, it was just a little too loud for conversation.
I came here with my female friends for a dinner & cocktails. I've been here many times before, but this time there was a DJ playing fun hip-hop(not today's garbage) and down tempo music(think Zero 7-Destiny)...all at a low pitch that allowed for conversation without raising your voice. The food was uber fresh and super delicious. I enjoyed the salmon w/caviar on top of cucumber, spicy tuna on crispy rice, yellow tail w/crispy onions, & spicy tuna rolls. Yes, I'm a pig. the portions were small, so I didn't feel guilty. Everyone from the hosts, busser, & our server were so pleasant & had a sense of humor. The place was packed, but the 5 chefs(you can see them preparing the food if you sit on the DJ side to the right after you first enter) were still able to keep up with the demand. Food came out quickly & was plated beautifully. I'd come here again(as I always do)!
The hostess was very friendly and accommodating. Once we were seated the waiter was also friendly but very slow. However, it was a busy night and a lot of people were there for a pre theater show. The food was not that great. I ordered 3 different sushi rolls and only one was decent. The atmosphere was nice but it was over priced for the amount and quailty of food.
