Good location, fresh sushi, nice presentation , overall good
Visited for a pre-theatre dinner and had a fabulous experience. Pre-dinner happy hour at the bar was great - bartenders were really friendly and fun. Service for dinner was excellent and the food was beautifully prepared and did not disappoint. I'll be back for sure.
This is not your local sushi restaurant but rather a gourmet sushi experience. We had gyoza and vegetable tempura to start, 2 rolls-rainbow and ell, and some delicious sushi pieces as well. Great service, great food, and 1 block from the Pantages theater-we'll definitely be back.
It’s a beautiful restaurant but not worth the money. Food and drinks are ok.
A great place to o before the theater. Wagu fried rice is a must. Food consistently excellent!
It’s fine. I think overrated perhaps. A little attitude. It’s not LA’s finest.
The front desk staff was very welcoming. The service was great. The food was very good but not very unique. I would love to see some more exotic rolls added to the menu.
My client was upset to have to pay the outrages valet fee's after our lunch plus
$100.00 a person is simply no longer a workable business expense.
In one word, TOO EXPENSIVE!
The restaurant is beautiful we were seated right away, the menu has so many good choices I had sushi and was delicious this place is great for lunch and dinner I would highly recommend it
Tip top service!
We had an early dinner prior to the theater (Pantages)...truly enjoyed it!
always great before Pantages theater! Great food and service and they get you there on time!
Started off with a couple Grapefruit cosmos and don't forget to ask for fresh wasabi! Makes all the difference! Service was a little off - they seem to have a tiered system (captain, food runners, bussers) but overall great experience.
Outstanding evening, Kyle was an excellent server! Would not hesitate to go back, if only for the crunchy rice tuna!
At these prices I was expecting Nobu quality food and for the most part is was just okay. Pretty place tho and the service was good.
Fabulous. Can’t wait to try it again. Food was so good.
Great food and service. Fun night out at your restaurant with friends. :)
Food and service was great! We had cocktails in the bar to start with the sushi tacos to share. Yum!! Our server Josh was amazing! He made great recommendations and we loved everything!!! I will return for sure!!
Overpriced so so sushi. Prompt service. Very very dark inside. Nothing really impressive. Similar to other chain sushi suck as Kabuki
Interesting decor. Katsuya is in a standard corned building and all of the windows are covered. This caused the entire restaurant to be dark, more like a nightclub than a restaurant.
Our service was good. We were tucked into a corner though so we couldn't see much. Some of our food came out quickly while we waited a long period of time for what turned out to be a simple yet expensive tempura roll which we found disappointing. My cocktail was moderately expensive for what it was. I was hoping for more out of the watermelon mojito. It seemed to have hardly any alcohol.
Food was good and service was good...but we had a 9:30 Reservation and we were told at 10pm last call for food and drinks. We were pushed out quickly and it ruined our experience. We would have gone somewhere else, had we known that was going to be the case.
This is a family favorite venue for dinner when coming to show at the Pantages Theatre. Food is always tasty, service is super fast and across the street from the Pantages. Great place to grab a cocktail too before a show!
Katsuya is fine. It’s the same as it always has been. The food has been consistent for years. If anything, they’ve actually shrunken the menu to only the most popular items. In this sameness though, Katsuya has gotten rather boring. It’s a little more expensive than it needs to be, but it’s always decent.
Wonderful staff. Food amazing as usual
Food was amazing!!
Our waiter was so understanding. We were running late to the play, and he was able to get our food and check right away. I usually get sushi. That night my boyfriend ordered chicken teriyaki. It was delicious!
Delicious food. Never disappoints. Best sushi restaurant with amazing food
Howie the bartender was amazing!! And the DJ was a fun addition.
Wonderful experience. Ordered all the specials and were not disappointed ! Thanks for s special evening.
Delicious and loud!
To get a meal for two is pricey but worth the occasional splurge .
Back to LA for the second time and had to try Katsuya again. Was not disappointed. Ordered the Lobster Dynamite (this was to die for) and the Sunset Roll. Delicious. Great service. Went on a Sunday evening and it was relatively quiet.
Food was different, amazing and delicious. Service not so great... but waitress was lovely
We had a reservation for 930 and showed up on time and weren’t seated until 1010. What made it worse was the fact that they had multiple open tables available. The food is good and the ambiance is nice, but it’s not my favorite place to be for everyday dining.
Food is amazing the service is okay considering how crowded the place gets.
Awesome environment and vibe. The food was amazing
This place was SO LOUD it was ridiculous. The DJ spinning tunes pumped out the volume while the patrons had to shout at the tables to be heard. It was deafening. The table next to us had a toddler screaming nonstop and none of the adults noticed. The Kobe beef we ordered was chunks of fat and gristle. Horrible. The other dishes were alright, but nothing noteworthy. We paid and got out of there. I'll stick with Nobu Matsuhisa.
I’m not a fan of where we were seated, in the smaller area seating next to the bathroom. Last visit we sat in the bigger room with the sushi bar and I felt I could have a conversation with my fiancé, this time I could barely hear the waitress. Food is still amazing and service was great.
Initial atmosphere was very stylish, although the dining room was so dark we needed our phone light to read the menu. I liked how comfy the couch seating was but the table we were at was very wide so almost impossible to talk to the person sitting across from you. Service was fine, food was fine, although for the price I wasn’t impressed with the food. For how much we ended up spending I would have expected bigger rolls, or thicker cuts of fish. A few of us went to get pizza afterwards because not everyone left feeling full. We spent $300 between 6 people, but also ran up a tab at the bar before the meal for not sure how much. I would come back for drinks, but probably not to eat again. Cocktails were excellent though!
Waiter was rude... food and atmosphere were good.
Had an amazing time for my birthday! Everything was on point from the staff, to the management, to the food and drinks. Highly recommend this place! Great for groups and a date night.
