Great service and good 😍
My husband and I had the best time on Saturday night! We had to Omakase for two along with the crispy tuna rice - so delicious! And our server and her runner provided the best service. Super attentive without being on top of us. Highly recommend and we will be back!
On this past Tuesday, August 13. I made reservations for dinner at 7:30. When I arrived, there was an intoxicated homeless guy in the front entrance. While I was valeting my car the homeless guy was in front of my car. The valet driver left my car on with the keys inside to help someone else. This gave the homeless guy the opportunity to steal my Mercedes. I had to stand outside next to my car and sent my girlfriend inside nervous for our lives and my car. I am regular customer, but after this disgusting experience, I am not coming back. I didn’t enjoy my meal as I was still shaken and scared about my car and my life.
Our reservation was at 8:30pm party of 4, restaurant was not very busy, host walked us all the way to a table next to the entrance of the bathrooms. We sat for awhile before a waiter came and asked us what we like to drink after the drinks our waiter disappeared we waited again finally he came took our order. Another waitress will bring the plates to the table but no one is picking up the empty plates I had to waive to another waiter to get the empty plates still our waiter would disappear another waiter came after I waived to him I asked him for our waiter he told me I will take your order. It was horrible the whole time we were waiting for the waiter or looking for the waiter. very bad service.
we had guests from out of the state first time in LA it was a very bad experience!!
Always an excellent place to go for lunch with family and friends ... great food and service ...
Set a reservation. Arrived without a table set. Waited two minutes to be led through a beautifully tiered dining room. An abrupt right turn later & we were led by the host via echolocation to "our" table. The cave that we entered is perfectly hidden in this otherwise beautiful restaurant. Using my phone's light, I studied the menu with the lengthy amount of time that was allotted by our server. Having mentioned that we would like to course our meal, said sever calculated a bold strategy of neglect. In all of the meantime, we were bombarded by what seemed to be a bus of New Jersey tourists with Malibu accents yelling about their lives in a perfect circle around us for approximately two hours. It all just seemed like a social experiment. The octopus is amazing. Those three stars are for the octopus.
Slow service, inattentive. Food took so long to come out that we canceled two items.
Service much slower than I’ve ever had
Took forever to get our drinks
And for a server to take our order which is not normal for Katsuya
Been here multiple times. Was just having dinner with friends recently when I was reminded how good it is. We had an assortment of hot dishes to include Wagyu beef and the cod, to jalapeño yellow tail sashimi and spicy tuna on crispy rice and popcorn shrimp. Finished it with assorted sushi eg Toro, Salmon etc. First class meal and a great evening.
They got orders mixed up - we received items we didn’t order and didn’t get things we did - some food arrived early and other orders came much later- one member of our party was served early and two of us didn’t receive our food till much later. The food itself was all excellent- we’ve been there several times and never had this bad an experience, maybe it was our server.
Food was excellent!
Terrible service and food is over priced mediocre . Nil value for money.
Enjoyed eating here. Very trendy, but still down to earth. Has different menu from the Katsuya at the Americana. Food was excellent.
I made a reservation on OpenTable, we got the table right away. We ordered a lot of starters, they were moderate noting special. Overall, food was great and ambience is also nice, but it is noisy if you’re looking for a private dinner date this location might not be an option.
I had a very positive experience at Katsuya. The food was great, and the ambience was fun and comfortable. My one gripe is the parking situation at Katsuya because most of the meter parking around is only one-hour making it difficult to find a place to park close to Katsuya that is not valet parking, so factor that into your trip when planning to go.
Price isn’t indicative of quality...
Some of the best sushi I have ever had. It is worth it to spend the extra $$ to get the higher quality fish on the Chef’s Moriawase sushi.
There have been major changes, none good. First many of my menu favorites are gone, including major reductions of Robata items. Second, many changes is staff. Old ones who remain are great. New ones do not have the positive, how can I help, attitude. In the past the old managers always came by to see how things were going. Not the new managers. I used to be a regular. Not any more.
Our server was very attentive and the food was really yummy. Also much more food than we could actually eat.
Great in every way except service. They were very very slow and seemed to forget about our orders.
Love their food typically BUT 2 times in a row the jalapeño yellowtail was not that good??? I am off it. They are also cutting it thicker which isn’t better. New chef? Cheaper fish? Not sure what the issue is but it is not worth ordering as is. Shame as it was one of their best items.
Something has changed-less about the food and more about providing a place on Brentwood to be seen. Disappointing—
Katsuya is a great place to go for the vibes and the food. I'd recommend it more for a special occasion versus a casual dinner because it is more expensive than other sushi restaurants that have the same quality fish for less money, but those restaurants may not have the ambiance you're looking for either.
Fabulous! Can’t wait to go back!
Thank you for dining with us @Swissks4u. We are glad you had a fabulous time and hope to see you again soon!
Food is always consistently great. Service is equally as good.
Thank you for dining with us @Beets, were glad we could stay consistent with you and keep up the good reputation! Hope to see you again soon!
Loved our server-very attentive. Her suggestions were spot on! Loved the cod!
Thank you for dining with us @Carmendelia! I'm glad we could attend to your every need! We hope to see you again soon!
I don't need to go back. Sushi was not good. Cocktails were okay. On the other hand, the service was very good.
Thank you for your feed back and taking the time to dine with us! We hope to see you again soon and hopefully restore our reputation with you!
We had the best time dining at Katsuya!!! The shrimp tempura was the best roll that I ever had... our bartender josh was amazing... we love our Katsuya fresh cocktails!!! Thank you Josh and the chef for a fantastic dinner !!!
Thank you for dining with us, we hope to see you again soon! Glad we could entertain you at the bar with great conversation! Try out one of our specialty rolls next time you are in, like the Rock Shrimp Tempura Roll.
Love Katsuya. Sadly, this visit the Brussels sprouts were a little oily for my taste. Overall, a great dinner in spite of this.
Thank you for dining with us @Jill425, we hope to see you again soon! Next time we will hit a home run with the sprouts!
The hostesses are amazing! We had more people than we planned for and the staff was more than accommodating.
Not enough vegetarian options!! Still great energy and crowd. Very vibrant and energetic place to have fun after a busy week
I made a reservation a week ahead of time to treat my niece who was visiting LA. The hostesses were disorganized, rude and sat every couple who came in after us before us and we weren’t seated until 1/2 hour past our reservation time. They then tried to seat us at table large enough for 7 people because they gave away the smaller tables. I live in the neighborhood, and while I’ve visited this restaurant countless times, I’m never returning.
We had a 7 pm reservation and had to wait almost an hour. We got sat around 7:55 and it was sons birthday and they were starving. Our waiter was nice enough but he suggested just ordering for us when we had suggested getting the omakase for the table( which was more expensive) but unfortunately his suggestions fell short and the timing of the food, awful. One dish in particular was so chewy...the steak with truffle butter. I could have eaten better at a IHOP. Needless to say, we will never return and will be sure to spread the word.
Way too crowded and even though we had a reservation we had to wait 40 minutes to be seated. Also our server forgot our salad orders and our side order came after we finished our entrees. Entrees were poorly timed and the server would just drop them on the table regardless of who ordered.. it was a mess. Thor food is generally good but the service made it a bad experience and it was my birthday!!
Gets busy so go early! Food is beyond excellent
Busy night with grad parties! Waited 30 minutes from our reservation. Service was lacking although when we could flag our waiter he was good. They need dedicated staff to refill water and drinks. Glad we ordered everything upfront because food was slow to come out. Food came out cool, not warm or hot and tastes better when it arrives tableside at the temp it was meant to be served and eaten at. We enjoy going here so will chalk this up to a more than busy night!
The food is always good here. The real negative is the noise level. It's very hard to hear your table mates.
We had a nice early dinner before the crowd came. Service was good and the food was also good. Nice relaxing dinner.
Simply Devine. We never, ever, anywhere has better food or service. The best sushi in the world.
Katsuya is always cool and chic in the neighborhood. For the most part, we thoroughly enjoyed our meal but I was not a fan of being seated at what I believe she called seat 21 or 22. I had no problem that it is towards the back room because we've been back there at the bar before but the table has little to no lighting and I was initially insulted. We had our table moved and from there the quality of our experience was what you'd expect from Katsuya.
Ambiance and service were par for a weeknight during dinner. It was lively, loud, and stylish. We started with spicy tuna crispy rice. It's one of our favorites. Next, from the robata menu, we ordered wagyu beef skewers and jidori chicken wings. They were both delicious and presented well - nothing unusual, just simple and good. In addition, we also ordered the spicy albacore sashimi with crispy onion which is my girl's favorite. We decided to end our meal with 2 rolls, the good old spicy tuna roll and the corn crunch roll which was new to both of us but will now be a favorite for me.
We felt our whole meal was excellent and a good value - great quality ingredients come at a premium price, but not unreasonable and well worth the price. Our server Brian was great and made up for the initial seating that we had with his exemplary service.
