Very friendly service. Never felt rushed. Reasonably priced.
Made reservation through Open Table only to be advised they don't accept reservations on Friday/Saturday. So we waited for a table. Fortunately the wait was not too long. However the wait for someone to take our oder was longer than expected. We both had Ramen. It was ok. Doubtful we will return.
This food was good and it was fun trying this restaurant for the first time at Irvine Spectrum
we were celebrating a birthday and the birthday boy picked out this place. It just so happened to be OC restaurant week and they had a special menu as well. We order the special menu items plus ala carte items. The server was excellent, presentation fantastic and food amazing. Delicious! can't wait to go back again.
The portion is too small for the price we pay. The fish on the roll is not that fresh.
Was there for a business meal. The food and atmosphere are good, particularly since it is in a big mall, but nothing is "great" here. Lots of selection, and the sushi and ramen items are fine. Service for us on the patio was slow, like they hadn't really planned for anyone to be there so they just came out when they could. It is a good value for what you get - definitely a nice break from the typical chain places.
Jan Birthday Celebrations
the services was horrible. otherwise, everything was good.
Good Japanese food. Lots of sushi options, ramen, and traditional Japanese favorites. Nothing particularly outstanding, but good. The server seemed otherwise occupied and did not check often.
Kabuki has been a favorite of mine since it opened. Always something interesting on the menu and always delicious. Whether you're in the mood for a couple of small plates, several to share, or a full dinner, you will not be disappointed. Service has always been good. A table has always been ready if I made a reservation. I've recommended to all my friends and they've never been disappointed either. Great place, great food.
Food is great. We love the sushi so we come here to celebrate our special occasion. It's just the service was slow... took a long time before server took our orders and get our bill. There were not a lot of customers there at that time. And most of all, no more free edamame?? 😉
Our server, Emi, did not manage our dinner very well. Soup and Salad came with our Entrée
and everything was delivered at the same time to our table. When we pointed that out
she stopped coming by our table. We had to flag down another server to get additional service
and our check. I appears some additional training is needed.
Went here with a big group. Had been recommended by one of the participants who was unable to attend. He was the only vegetarian in the group. As far as for meat eaters (meaning fish or other animal protein) it was a very underwhelming experience. The sushi was fairly expensive and not as high of quality as you would expect. There are definitely better sushi bars out there.
Had problem with reservation. Though we hv email confirmation of Open Table reservation, we were not in kabuki 's system. Since it was Saturday, the wait time was about 45 mins. After a lengthy emotional argument with manager, we were seated which took about the same wait time as for those who did not hv a reservation.
This is our first time making a kabuki reservation online at open table , very disappointed.
Portions were small for the price compared with other Japanese restaurants...especially the "beef ribs" in their combo meals...all bone and gristle and hardly any meat. Service was handled by multiple waiters each clueless as to what the others were doing and food-to-table was really poorly timed for a 4-top given the standard fare we ordered. Restaurant definitely caters to families attending the theater across the plaza and was unpleasantly loud. Would not recommend for anyone looking for good Japanese food in a relaxing setting.
We had expected more since we have dined at the Kabuki in Pasadena many times. Almost impossible to get any service once seated. Our server went missing all night. 15 minutes to get water and tea. 20 minutes to get a beer. The food took forever to arrive and some of the meals came about 10 minutes apart until we flagged down one nice food runner who picked up our food up on the Sushi chef's counter. I could see it from where I was sitting and it had been there for a while. We were still missing 2 bowls of steamed rice which we finally received 5 minutes later. The whole situation was Very embarrassing as we were entertaining family from out of town.
Really nice dinner for the money. We got there during their Happy Hour Menu time so we saved a few bucks on a really decent dinner. All of the rolls/sushi were good. Also had a couple of the combination items which were all good, too. Plenty of food at a very reasonable price for sushi/Japanese food. And our waitress was great so no complaints at all.
Food was great. Busser was amazing and always kept my beverages full. Server was just okay.
Service was just okay and food was very overpriced. For the quality of food we got, it made it not worth coming into this restaurant. Will not be returning.
My girlfriends and I went here for lunch during restaurant week. The food was fine but service was average to below average. We made reservations so we were seated right now but didn't see a wait or until 15-20 mins at the booth. Then our 3 course meal that we ordered via restaurant week took 1.5 hours to come out. Going during a weekday is not the best if you are tight on time to dine. Casual place if you have lots of time to hang out. Food was average- can't say much because I just ordered via the pre-fix meal.
My husband and I went for lunch during OC restaurant week. I was a little skeptical based on reviews of the ramen, but it seemed like a good deal (and it was). The garlic edamame was nicely seasoned and vibrantly garlicky. It was quite a generous portion, too. My husband's soy ramen was surprisingly delicious. It was packed full of roasted veggies, firm but silky noodles, and a rich broth with an addictive umami flavor. The tonkatsu pork was good - nothing special, but good with the cabbage salad and solid for what it is. All around, glad we went and would go back if we get hungry for cheap, nearby sushi or ramen. It's not the best for either of these, but certainly a decent value.
Best Dragon Roll I've had! The food was a lot better than expected and it wasn't too costly. Would definitely eat here again if I'm in the area.
Melt in your mouth sushi! I am officially hooked.
Food was great and so was the service. Worth going
Called kabuki to confirm our OpenTable reservn before going, and we're told they only take first come first served during weekends, no reservns, not even thru OpenTable. We still went. Good thing it wasn't crowded that night and my family was able to get a table right away. We had a nice dinner. Hopefully next time opentable will be in sync with the restaurant's reservn policy.
Good food and a great place to grab dinner before going to the movie. Rolls were great and my picky eater ate the entire kids meal.
Very good sushimi, rolls are average, but nice too, service OK, the only bad thing - almost all our plates/dishes had been chipped, they need to take better care of their dishes and replace the chipped ones.
Bland sushi, overpriced, and our server was nowhere to be found most of our meal.
The service and food are excellent, plus the location in the Irvine Spectrum is perfect for parking and going to the movies.
The rice was overcooked and mushy on half of our order. When we notified the waitress she said that they discovered the issue and made a new batch, but never offered to redo our food
The food is good- solid versions of each item. I had the ramen, which was flavorful but not memorable. The service is basic- take your order, bring the food.
We had linner (late lunch/early dinner) so maybe that is why service was a bit slow. The restaurant wasn't busy. However the sushi was delicious!
I did not like my first-time experience at Kabuki. I don't plan on coming back again. My sushi roll was tasteless. I shouldn't have ordered the Agedashi Tofu. It was chewy instead of crispy and soft inside. Service was just ok. The server never checked on us until we were finishing up our meal.
Ordered one order of dessert n our server gave enough for my mom n i to share
I was looking for a new japanese restaurant to frequent. This is not that place. The food was average and the service was very slow.I can cross it off my list.
The food was absolutely delicious. Our server was very attentive when she came around but she did so very infrequently. We were there for 90 minutes for what was a lunch hour. You would think that they would offer quick service for the lunch crowd that has to get back to work within an hour.
I have visited Kabuki on two occasions recently for late lunch extended business meetings employees who are also located in this area. The menu is diverse and on these visits we've enjoyed selecting a variety of appetizer and entrée items. The luncheon menu is very reasonably priced, so the value in terms of food quality, service and setting is very good. On both occasions, our server was a young man, John, whose knowledge, courtesy and friendliness very positively contributed to our experience. I'll go back for another business luncheon, but I'm also looking forward to returning with my wife on a visit to the Spectrum.
I like that I can order a la carte or a meal. The meals are too large for me. I have taken several friends and they all have loved it. I wish you could make reservations on Friday and Saturday.
Great time with high quality food. Andrew was great as always. Will definitely continue to return!
Their Shrimp and Vegetable Tempura is always good with a beer.
Service was very good!
