Very large tables (2 with perhaps 14 or more people) made so much noise we could not hear the music or even have a conversation. Finally asked to be moved and the staff was OUTSTANDING in supporting us. At this price point it was very unfortunate those very large tables were put together. By nature they will create more noise. At least put them against the back wall so other customers can have a regular conversation.
This restaurant is a MUST do when visiting San Antonio! The first night we ate there, Luis was our server. He was amazing! Very helpful & knowledgeable about the menu! The food and service were so impeccable that we decided to go back the very next night. Julie was our server this night. She was fun, energetic and just as knowledgeable sbout the menu. She packed all of the food up to go and added extra bread. Just an amazing restaurant that cannot be missed!
Absolutely stupid policy about bringing your own wine in. I won’t be back.
Service was very slow at first. We waited a long time to be greeted or asked if we wanted a cocktail etc. Once we ordered our wine, again it took a long time to be served to us. They bring out a bread and jerkey board that was not only delicious but a very unique and nice touch. My husband ordered a filet that was melt in your mouth delicious. I ordered the halibut that came with a surprise of 5 shrimp in a delicious sauce. Both dishes were amazing. We did not order any apps or salad but did get a loaded baked potato to share, perfect!
I don’t feel like the food is all that great. Feels like they leave it out under the burners too long and doesn’t taste fresh. Our server barely paid attention to us which was really frustrating. Probably won’t be back in the future.
Great time. Great service.
Amazing food and experience!
We booked restaurant for our anniversary. Service was top notch and food was amazing! Our server went above and beyond to make the evening special!
Great food!! Awesome place!!
The Sunday brunch buffet is amazing. You won’t find a better deal for the amount of food and desserts you can try (not to mention drinks are included). Our service was great and the ambiance is on par with what you’ll find at any great country club. We’ll be back again soon.
Michael who was the bartender and server was outstanding! We ordered drinks and appetizers at the bar before dinner and he was so friendly and accommodating. It was pretty busy because we were there for a sales meeting with a huge group but it did not even faze him. He is the epitome of customer service. Thanks!
Our food was absolutely delicious! Usually service suffers a little when dining on Valentines Day but our server was excellent and management and table runners were all pitching in to make your dining experience a wonderful celebration dinner out. It was much noisier than when dining on a regular evening ou and I defiantly prefer the more romantic quiet ambiance near the fire, but we had a wonderful table. I will definitely be back for Valentine’s Day and special evenings out with my husband.
The food was okay. Our steaks were cooked perfect, but completely flavorless. They serve a 1/4 of an onion on the side of the steak, but it is literally just a quarter of an onion...not cooked, flavored nothing. The wine list was great, but they tripled even quadrupled the actual price of each bottle. Overall I give them a 3-star because the ambiance is really nice, but the food is just okay and the price is outrageous! My favorite part about our entire $300 meal was the free jerkey they serve on the beginning 😳
Most of the time a good experience. The cocktails very good . Wine list very good. Fresh oysters wonderful. After that the service and food went downhill a bit. Our appetizer and salad were forgotten. One steak was good the other forgettable. The desert was good. Overall we will be back.
A hidden gem near the stone oak area. Luis our server did an excellent job of explaining the dishes and specials. A restaurant associated with the JW hotel the food was exceptional. We dined on a Sunday night, the restaurant was quiet and enjoyable. In peak seasons, it may become a little noisy, but it’s a beautiful location and the food well prepared.
Great brunch, the best in South Texas!
A delicious meal in a very nice atmosphere. Appetizers were yummy, especially the gnocchi and crab cakes. Entrees of venison, ribeye, salmon were exceptional. Desserts? Yes, of course they met our expectations...we had several for group of six. We’ll be back...maybe we’ll see you there.
Service excellent. Wine selection excellent. Sides excellent, carpaccio appetizer was out of this world good. Filet and ribeye steaks were way oversold. Both overcooked and tough to chew. Unacceptable. Dessert excellent. This is a steak house, not a high end steak house. Could be excellent but not the way it's teed up and then served below expectations. Probably won't be back.
Got a free desert for our anniversary. Waiter was good. I like that it does not turn down the lights.
My wife and I have enjoyed the Sunday brunch at 18 Oaks on several occasions over the past four years. Our latest brunch was another wonderful dining experience. As always, the food was amazing. While we have always received outstanding wait service, our waiter,Christopher, went above and beyond in taking care of us. I cannot recommend the brunch at 18 Oaks enough.
Brought 4 guests, everything superb. Most notable, someone had left behind some "artwork" in the dining room, very near where we were seated. I received a voicemail on my cell phone from our server Addison asking if it was ours ... told me to stop by the office and it would be there waiting for me. It was not ours, but the call was "over the top" in customer service. We live nearby ... this is why we visit more often that we can afford ... first class in every way
We went for our anniversary and had a wonderful meal. The t-bone was amazing as was the iceberg salad. The service was great. Thank you 18 Oaks for making this a special evening.
Enjoyed it very much. The waiter was particularly outstanding.
Great place where the food and service always outstanding!! My family and I have dined at 18 Oaks for approximately 5 years and always very satisfied with our dining experience.
Food had a very good favor. And our server was very knowable of the food.
Great food and the service is always excellent. Very nice to have a good steak and seafood restaurant in the resort. We will always eat at least one meal here when we stay at the J W Marriot Hill Country Resort.
Molly our waiter was fantastic
To state our experience was a disaster is an understatement. Each item we tried to order was not available. Upon finishing our appetizer we found a steak on the menu which we ordered. The wait time for the steak was app 30 minutes post appetizer and the steak was served raw. While we were waiting, the server did not check with us or inform us of the wait. Upon informing the server of our improperly prepared food, we were told the kitchen had closed at 9 and we ordered at 9:15. The manager spoke to us which made the experience worse because he stated that he noticed we waited a long time so he was going to offer dessert. After arriving at 8 pm we left at 10 with no dinner. I will not return nor return to the Marriott because if this experience.
We have visited 18 Oaks, stayed at JW Marriott and used Lantana Spa numerous times. Every time we have experienced exceptional service, wonderful accommodations and quality, well prepared food. The JW staff makes my family and I feel special in every aspect. They always exceed our expectations. I highly recommend this property in it’s entirety.
Everything Excellent. Appetizers wonderful.
Foie gra too small but delicious. Wedge salad very flavorful. Potato loaded and baked to perfection. Meat perfectly cooked.
Whiskey flight amazing.
Food was amazing as usual however service was terrible. Our server decided to be very rude to me after i asked for the $45 bottle of wine on the menu. She basically ridiculed me in front of my guests, questioning my judgement and then talking about me behind my back the rest of the meal. I, and the good friends I was with, couldn’t believe it! Shocking to see this level of service at a JW Marriott property...
I think the lighting should be dimmer- its amazing food, the service was great, but the lighting was just a little harsh, so it didn't allow for the sexy atmosphere, which it could have otherwise. But the food was so amazing! Also, our server was so prompt, nice and he was great. It is a wonderful hidden gem.
The food was well worth the price and the service was very good. There was food and drink recommendations and such kindness in my wife's and my anniversary celebration.
This was our third time at 18 oaks. The food was excellent as always. Service a bit slow but friendly.
Very disappointed. I ordered the 12 oz. Ribeye for $51.00. It was supposed to be cooked medium (pink center). It was a combination of pink and red throughout with a lot of gristle. I've gotten better cuts of meat out of the butcher case at HEB. My husband ordered a different steak, and he asked me how mine was because he said his wasn't that good. We both had the French Onion Soup and it was delicious, as was the Spinach Au-Gratin that we shared. We also shared the Loaded Baked Potato and it was ok. We didn't bother ordering dessert. With a glass of wine (for $9.00) and one cocktail, the bill was over $200.00. For that amount, I expect an overall good meal.
Good selection of food and very tasty . Would come back again
Amazing steaks and fantastic service! Great place for family or special occasions.
We visited 18 Oaks as part of two birthday celebrations and our stay at the JW Marriott. Everything was excellent. Our server, Joshua, was engaging, very helpful and provided several "treats" during the course of the evening. The food and wine (a suggestion from Joshua) were all very good and no one came away from the evening hungry. Being part of a mainly family/golf resort, the ambiance was not a formal as one of the "downtown steak houses". That's not a negative, just an observation. I would put the service and food on par with, or slightly above some of those primo restaurants.
Food was great and the service was truly outstanding. Waiter was knowledgeable about everything on the menu including the cocktails and had helpful suggestions on the whiskey flights.
