Jungsik cuisine is a work of art, each morsel thoughtfully prepared to taste exceptional as much as look phenomenal. However, as a any work of art some of it makes sense to you while others don’t. Service was friendly and very welcoming from the moment you enter

Amuse bouche, a twist on banchan, was a perfect yet petite introduction of what was to come. Chef’s recommendation on the order in which it had to be tasted definitely made sense.

The sea urchin’s smoothness’ play against crispy quinoa was entertaining while octopus was rather simple. Wagyu beef with foie gra dumplings was okay.

The much anticipated cod didn’t quite work for our palate. The sauce didn’t feel fresh and the fish seemed a bit under done than it should’ve been if indeed it was poached for an entire day. Anyway, sriracha sauce was phenomenal and came to the rescue in this course.

The banana dessert was outstandingly prepared and cheekily presented. We wish we weren’t seated so close to other party, which spoiled the fun earlier than it would’ve for us.

By the way we loved the beetroot and plum based palette cleanser, what a tour de force of taste - woke us up.

Persimmon tea smelled unpleasant to our noses and won’t recommend it.

Much like others have commented we didn’t feel Korean emphasis as we wanted and which is what brought us to Jungsik. Spice was not there, missing that kick we were hoping for that would’ve been a differentiating factor from other Asian establishments.

In the end we were impressed by obvious culinary skills of the chef but in the primary test of taste we came home wanting. For a two Michelin star rating we were not expecting to end where we did.

Celebrated our wedding anniversary and very much enjoyed the meal. With tasting menus, I am always a little worried I will leave hungry (LOL), but it was certainly not the case here. I arrived hungry and left quite full.

Very modern and elegant korean restaurant The service and staff is excellent! Very friendly and “smiley”. Food was tasty and interesting. Every dish was an art work . Beautiful and detailed.Just want to mention it’s not a traditional korean restaurant. Some kind of high end korean-French fusion. I would say more French . For 5 courses is way too expensive.
And I didn’t like when I got for taste a sparkling wine and it wasn’t my expectation .. I asked for a champagne instead.. the manager came up pour a glass for me and gave me a lecture with a fake smile on his face how I should NEXT time request a wine for my specific taste... Really not cool! Some people like me can’t describe the wine. I’m mostly of time go with my taste. And listening his “politely suggestion for the NEXT time “ before I even start my dinner was a BAD move.Well there NOT going to be a NEXT time ! Defiantly.
I know he wasn’t happy because they r opened a new bottle and I refused to drink that sourish sparkling wine. But no matter how unhappy I was I still continued dine there because I didn’t want to ruin my husband’s birthday celebration. And we were very generous with a tip on the end. Total damage for 2 was $747. Not worse it.

Totally overrated Restaurant.
The maitre D was very rude and made us feel very unwelcome!!
The Restaurant is totally inflexible with its menu.
We waited for an hour before even getting the menu!
Waist of time and money!

We had the more extensive tasting menu. Every course was good but we particularly enjoyed the cigar like seaweed stuffed with truffle rice and the following course which was a very aromatic and tasty short rib dish. Absolutely delicious!
The service was outstanding! George was kind and attentive as were all the other servers. Hospitality at its best!

My husband and I were very satisfied to have spent our 8th wedding anniversary and a birthday with our 4 year old daughter. We were concerned at first that the waiters would have told us about our young daughter who was under 7 that we can't sit in the formal dining room (which was noted on the website), I wasn't aware of this after the reservations. We were thrilled that she behaved very well, and the waiters and waitresses were all so nice with her. Thank you.

The cuisine at Jungsik is wonderfully inventive and delicious. Their service is impeccably professional yet friendly. You feel as if you are being pampered throughout the meal and it is a delight for the senses. Their plating is elegant and so incredibly beautiful you almost don’t want to touch the sculpture but for the reason that you know it will taste amazing. Highly recommended.

Jungsik, was a must for my trip to NYC. After seeing some videos and reviews I knew I had to try it.
Let me say first that the service was great. I had a guest come with me last minute who had an infant. Even though they don't normally allow children they did so gracefully. When deciding the menu, my guest decided that she couldn't stay for long for fear of the little one acting up. Upon hearing this the staff felt bad and graciously sat her at the bar to have a mini tasting which she loved. Even some of the staff entertained the young one. Besides this the staff were playful at times yet always professional.
The food at Jungsik left me in a very blissfull state. Starting off with some great little bites, and with each course getting increasingly better. Yet better is not the right word choice. Already starting at a high note each course just added another level of depth and flavour to the meal. At it's peak for me was their signature octopus. Euphoria is the only thing I can think of to describe it. To be the most tender melt in your mouth octopus ever, and yet still have enough chew to be recognizable as octopus, whilst also having the lightest crisp exterior which almost had a tempura quality to it. All that and have a deliciously spicy gochuchang sauce as its accompaniment, the single best thing I've eaten in NYC.
While that was the peak of the meal, the rest of the meal didn't fall short, or I didn't care as being completely blissful from the octopus.
Other notable items was the gimbap which while elegant, it was still familiar like a warm hug. The Galbi wagyu with the most delicious and unique tasting kim chi. The pear dessert with every component both showcasing or supporting the flavour of pear in one most harmonious dessert.
With all said and done, one of my favourite food experiences and a definite must go back for me.

I came here for a family dinner. I really love the atmosphere and the service was good! I tried the seasonal menu and it includes a variety of freshly made seafood cuisines. We really loved the sea urchin and NY-Seoul Ver.2 (dessert). The overall is a really amazing experience! Good job!

The food was spectacular. We took pictures of each offering.
The service was attentive and warm. Though, some of the staff's appearance was strikingly discordant with the overall tone of the evening. We don't usually notice somethiung like that but, it caught our attention because it was so out of place.
The ambience was slightly negatively impacted by some other diners who seemed dressed for dinner at McDonalds. This restaurant clearly is catering to a high end crowd. Our dinner for two cost almost $800 - without the wine pairing option. Given this, I think they should require higher standards from their customers. Or, provide jackets for those caught off guard by the setting.
The value was in keeping with our expectations. However, I was greatly disappointed to see separate charges for coffee and water. This type of experience should include these items in the overall price.
