One of the best meals we have ever had. Some fine dining restaurants don’t pay as much attention to dessert but that’s not the case here...finished very well!

I would say it's more Korean influenced food rather than Korean food. Overall the food on the price fix menu was good, though $65 supplement for royal bibimbap is a little excessive given the portion was so tiny, and it's not even remotely similar to actual bibimbap. Also I couldn't bring myself to eat the pigeon, though they were able to swap it out a beef dish. Very overpriced though considering quantity of food, and though it's good overall it's not anything exceptional.

It’s always a risk going back to a restaurant you’ve previously had one of the best meals of your life at ... I needn’t have worried. Our dinner was as sublime as last time. Outstanding service, outstanding food, lovely ambiance ... what’s not to like. Can’t wait to go back for round 3!

This was my third time at Jung Sik; I celebrated my 70th birthday there in 2013, and the occasion was my 76th on Saturday 01/12/2019. I think everything from the cuisine to the service was of an even higher calibre than at my previous visit. My fiancee was thrilled beyond all expectations and could not praise the entire experience any more enthusiastically. There were numerous soju's on the drink menu, and I do not
recall their being available. Since I have lived in Korea, I found soju a great accompaniment to the meal.

Very disappointed overall with the experience. Expected much more from a 2 star Michelin restaurant. Food was good not great and definitely not worth the price. Prices for glasses of wine was outrageous. There are much better Michelin 1 star restaurants than this with 2 stars

Everything was incredible. I was alone and chose to sit at the bar to order the octopus and the urchin a la carte instead of doing the seasonal or signature tasting menus. The dashi braised octopus was the best I’ve ever had. So tender and subtly crispy! The uni was a fascinating take on bibimbap, the flavors blending delightfully in each bite. I also did the dessert tasting menu, which was incredible. Since I was alone, I was talking to the bartender (I never caught his name) and the assistant manager (Ms. Chung, I believe) throughout my time there. They both made me feel very welcome. All in all, I had a lovely time!

The food was simply stunning in all regards. We appreciated the balance between courses. While there were some intense umami flavor bombs, there were also many dishes with delicate flavors and subtle mouth-feel. We chose the smaller menu and left feeling quite satiated but not overstuffed, always a plus for me. The wine list is very expensive, but we were able to find an excellent dry Riesling that went well with everything for less than $100. The sommelier was very helpful. Worth the splurge for a special occasion (or if you have an expense account.)

Overall, at Jungsik, the holiday tasting menu seemed to be just standard Korean flavors with maybe a few twists, using higher quality ingredients. This was Korean flavored food, slightly elevated. There was no truly amazing “Wow!!” dish, nothing was blow you socks off superb. All dishes were quite restrained in flavor, and there were at minimum four errors in execution. The dry dough on the mini steamed bun amuse-bouche; the weird flavor combination of the king crab with the caviar; the undercooked turbot along with the fish bone. Everything else was set at a comfortable flavor, but not exceptional. The wow factor was not there; this was not an impressive tasting menu, especially for $325 a head. The flavor explosions were simply not present; expectations for this price point were not met.

While the food is outstanding at Jungsik, the prices are outrageously high (expect at a minimum $400 per person even when you order from the regular, non-tasting menu if you plan to have wine, which we did not have). The prefix is especially deceptive because in most courses, you were only given two choices, and in our case we were only offered the choice of sea urchin without an extra fee, or else a risotto with truffles for an additional hike-up of $65 per person. In other words, if you do not like sea urchin, you are stuck with a huge additional prefixed charge, with such a mark-up coming on a dessert as well. While the service was outstanding, our waiter seemed not so subtly to be pushing those dishes with additional fees, and we were made to feel bad for asking any questions related to price. The food though is truly delicious and exotic, but we ended up paying nearly $900 for three people with only two cocktails and no wine, and we did not have the even more exorbitantly priced tasting menu. Nonetheless, the design of the restaurant is beautiful, and be sure not to miss the hyper-fancy toilets in the bathrooms with more gadgetry than you can believe. Alas, I won’t go back, despite the superlative skills of the chef.

Most of our experience at Jungsik was outstanding. However there were a couple of things that were just very off. Except for one dish the food was amazing. Don't know whether it was authentic Korean but the presentations and flavors were wonderful. The one dish we were excited to try there and supposedly was one of their signature dishes was the sea urchin. We've had it a couple of times before so we kind of knew what to expect. However what we were served was both rubbery and tasteless. Even if we were totally unfamiliar with how its suppose to taste (kind of like eating the ocean) it would still have been a major disappointment.

The other very odd standout was the wine service. The wine list is quite extensive so we were expecting a top notch wine steward to help us navigate it. But also since we were unfamiliar with most of the food we decided to go with their offered wine pairings anyway. As in most top notch restaurants we were expecting to get detailed explanations of each wine and why it was chosen as the pairing. That didn't happen. It was like pulling teeth to get any info on the wines. In addition, the person serving the wine (I certainly wouldn't call him a wine steward) had a very thick Asian accent who spoke in a whisper so even asking about the wine did not result in usable info.

However, since everything else about the restaurant was of Michelin star quality we are hoping those 2 complaints were the result of it being an off night for them rather than an inherent problem. We are looking forward to returning soon and hoping they were anomalies.

Food is extraordinarily great. However the server was awfully arrogant and rude(the Korean server was nice though). From what I heard afterwards is that if you don't order expensive drinks, you will experience the worst dinner time(I don't drink so ordered non-alcohol cocktails). He even checked the tip in the receipt before getting up from a chair. This is NOT what I expect from fine dining.

Fabulous from start to finish- polished service and original flavors. It was my husband’s birthday and they personalized our menus and brought him an extra dish.
The octopus was probably the best I have ever had. So many wonderfully different preparations of seafood and their riff on Korean BBQ was so tender that it practically melted in our mouths. Loved the extensive wine list and the very elegant ambiance.

Amazing experience and markedly better than 2016. I guess the uptick of one Michelin star makes a difference. Inventive, great combinations of flavors. I love that they experiment to get it absolutely right. The shishito pepper addition to the squab was spot on. The royal bimbimbap was out of this world. Wine list is nicely done. We had a sincere at a reasonable price point and it didn't disappoint. Be prepared to spend $750 plus for 2 but it is worth it if you appreciate this type of culinary experience. I for one love this place. enjoy!

The food and food display was so tasty and elegant. It was an experience not just for food but art of exhibition. Service was excellent. I also liked the fantastic non alcoholic beverages. I was astonished when i didnt tell the staff i dont like octopus before dining. Of course I would not feel confortable to switch to another course when the staff asked me if anything he could get to me. He felt sorry and left. Surprisely, he brought a bowl of sea urchin over rice to me. I was surprised, Not becuase I got a free corse, but the careness Jungsik staff concerned and paid attention in details. That night dining at Jungsik is one of the most confortable experience I've ever had in Michelin Stars restaurants. Highly recommended.

This contemporary Korean restaurant has a very clean and elegant environment. The service was very attentive and the waiting time between dishes was perfect.
All the courses were surprising and full of flavor and surely with a Korean touch. Also the amount of food was perfect.
Pointing one dish that had 2 days of preparation was one of the desserts “the fake banana”. It looked so real and it even had the ripe signs.
It is pricey but it’s worth it.
I will definitely come back again.
