Jsix, a farm to table San Diego restaurant on the corner of East Village and the Gaslamp, offers a rooftop bar, American cuisine, cocktails, and the best weekend brunch in downtown San Diego.

We had a party of four and each of us were pleased with our entrees—steak (2), scallops, and chicken. Moreover, after enjoying starters, the two of us who had the larger (8 ounce) steak option also took home yummy leftovers......

The combination of expensive food, small portions, and long wait time led to my non-glowing review of this restaurant.

The food and drinks tasted good (7 out of 10). From ordering to actually receiving any food was about 45 minutes. The scallops were over $30, and there were 3 total on top of a little bit of corn and a sauce. I am a 120lb woman, and was hungry after finishing my meal. I would have definitely considered it an appetizer. The staff was friendly, and service was good, but it was just slow getting the meal without any explanation.

Second visit and was really disappointed. Considering it wasn’t that busy, waited 40 minutes for our shared charcuterie starter. Had the smallest glass of wine I’ve ever had in a restaurant for $15 ( just a Californian Chardonnay). My burger entree was lukewarm at best and the waitress checked in to ask if all was good without even waiting for an answer! We won’t be going back.

Service was very poor, very slow and there didn't seem to be enough wait staff on the floor. Server neglected to bring small plates for the table to share appetizers. Oyster appetizer was very poor. Oysters were mushy like they might have been partially frozen and also had some sand grit in them. Server could not identify the oysters by nsme or region. Main entrees we're pretty good. Overall and for the cost, not a great dining experience.

Service was great, food was very poor. Bistro steak was chewy and red wine demi was runny. Everyone in our party got the same thing and no one finished it.

Although we did enjoy the meal and interacting with Michelle we were disappointed for several reasons:

1. We fully expected to be able to enjoy a few glasses of very fine champagne before our meal, I even took the time to change our reservation to allow an hour before being seated (5 till 6PM) to sip bubbly. As we found out when we arrived the $5 bubbly was only available on Wednesdays. Neither your website or Nathan noted that the special was only on Wednesdays. I specifically told Nathan the reason for changing the reservation was for the champagne special. He failed to inform me that we were dining on the wrong day for bubbly sipping.

2. My Sweeties steak was delicious but rather tough with unacceptable amounts of grizzle. She said the fries and the sauce were the best parts of the meal.

3. Scallops were wonderful but for $32 a few short of what I would consider a good value.

Again, Michelle was a highlight and the rest of the experience was somewhat lacking.

We do intend to drop in for bubbly and maybe a small bite someday, hopefully the rooftop service is a little better when we do.

We really enjoyed Jsix! The food was creatively and exquisite prepared, my cocktail was excellent. Our server Michelle was attentive and helpful in making our selections.
Beautiful modern decor, we both loved.
The prices were well matched to the food quality. Will visit again

This place is perfect for celebrations or date night. The ambience was romantic and the decor was beautiful. The staff was very friendly and the food amazing! This restaurant should be on everyone’s must try list.

Ceviche and meat/cheese board we’re good but the $27 chicken entree was extremely dry. I literally had better, more moist chicken at Sea World. And for a restaurant with a stated focus on sourcing, a seven up soy glaze makes no sense. Plenty of better ways to get sweetness into a soy sauce than high fructose corn syrup. Service was excellent.

Was amazing! We appreciated the caring service and the chef taking the time to visit our table. Food was an amazing homage to Filipino food that brought us back to our grandmother’s cooking. Was beautifully crafted and absolutely delicious. Will be back soon and bringing more people with us!
Can’t wait for our Lola and our mom to come with us next time.
Thanks again for a great experience!

Jsix is an okay place to go to in Gaslamp District. Good, but nothing special for the price. Service is just so so.

it took 2 hours to get our food and all the other tables got it before us. the food was subpar and it was luke warm by the time it got out. I asked them where it was and they told me 3 times that it would be out in 5 minutes. Horrible experience, do not recommend!!

This was our first time to this restaurant, and was overall very pleased! My only "complaint" would be the very limited menu. Most specifically, the entrees. I believe there were only 5 (or 6?), and this was most limiting! I appreciate that the ones offered were excellent, however, it would be nice to have a few more!

After some confusion entering the dining area for our reservation (entered side door into Bar) we were pointed in a confusing way to the Restaurant. There's not a hostess area persé but we stood where we noticed other diners waiting. Our waiter was great, food was visually awesome, tastes amazed and satisfied as we had a pre-fix 4 course meal. After the first course the evening went much better and felt like a special night as planned. Manger even dropped in to say hello and ask how things were. Thanks JSix for a fantastic meal.

I had a large, gloppy, delicious burger with crispy fries. Very good-sized - I couldn't finish it. My husband sampled two salads, one caesar-ish, one with warm beets. Excellent!

Tables are close together and there's an active bar, so this isn't the place for quiet conversation - fun, nonetheless.

We came here for New Year's Eve and received JSix's Prix Fixe menu which cost $85 and consisted of snacks to share with the table, 2 courses, dessert and a glass of champagne. I really enjoyed the second course which was an ox tail pasta. The snacks were a hit and miss; some were good and others lacked flavor/seasoning. My entree was the grouper which was tasty, but the other guests had duck which seemed to be a better choice. I have been to JSix without a Prix Fixe menu and found I enjoyed the food a bit more.

We had the 4 course meal on new years eve. Portions were super small. My food was cold as it came out and bland. It took over 2 hours to receive this meal. My reservation was at 745 we finished close to 10pm. I waited so long in between courses, it was my husband's birthday and he asked to go to get Chinese takeout because we were still hungry. It was not even busy in the restaurant when we were seated so the excuse got me is gone. For a bill for 200.00 I was completely let done. Never coming back save your money.

Well to be fair we would have actually had the opportunity to eat the food in order to rate it. We had reservations for breakfast. We were seated rather quickly. Within minutes the waitress came over and rather rudely stated “just so you know it will be a 40 minute wait to get any food as we only have one person working in the kitchen”. No hello. No apology. My wife and I looked at each other and decided to leave. On the way out I mentioned to the manager that they probably shouldn’t accept reservations if they weren’t able to accommodate them. He told me that since we had reservations we wouldn’t have to wait that long for our food. Our experience was already ruined so we left. On the way back to our hotel we walked by a place called Brian’s 24 so we walked in with no reservations. Warm friendly greeting. Great service and great food. We’ll go there first next time.

Christmas Eve so very few patrons. Service was excellent and the food was very tasty but tepid. Not a lot of vegetarian options but locally sourced and well put together.

Not a bad restaurant but nothing like it used to be. I ordered the steak and fries. It was good. But I was just disappointed that the restaurant had changed so much since my last visit. We used to order "Chef's Mercy," a 5 course surprise tasting menu. I was disappointed that it is no longer offered. The new chef seems to specialize in Asian flavors. It really wasn't a bad restaurant, but it's too far out of my way to ever go back.

This was overall a very odd restaurant experience. It is a very nice ambience. We find a server to be seated as no one was at the hostess stand. Had to go get the bartender to order cocktails as the waitress was MIA. He said he only helps people with reservations ( which we had, and the restaurant was 70% empty). Food and drinks were not good. Ceviche was fishy and had to be sent back. Again had to get our waitress to get our check.

I found this restaurant on the passport dining list and was overall displeased by the service. I made a reservation days in advance for 8pm and we had not exited the restaurant until 945pm. We were sat and not attended to for several minutes while the host came by to explain parts of the menu that he wasn’t extremely sure on. Once our server finally came and took our orders, I notified him about my friend’s birthday that evening. Food eventually came out and we ate our food in 10 minutes or less. Then my friend and I left out our passports to show we were ready for the check but was not attended to for a while. Finally, the cake for the birthday girl came and soon after the check came. We were charged for the cake and were unaware of this charge being applied and if we would’ve known then we would’ve picked out a specific dessert. It was an unfortunate experience but the only thing that I have positive to say was the food was good, no complaints there.

Our waitress was amazing. She was patient with our indecision of what to eat, walked us through the menu to help us choose, and gave us the time and space while we decided if we were going to keep eating. Just as we were finishing our meal, 3 of our friends joined us and started their order! Through it all she was awesome. The food was amazing and all of us shared it all. I would strongly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting San Diego.

we were one of two tables, server nice yet getting the meal was slow. I asked for my salmon to be cooked all the way, it was not. The server took it back yet did not return with the salmon until my husband was done with his meal. disappointing.
