Great date night spot. Beautifully designed and excellent food.
Great experience! We really enjoyed our food and the space.
The hostess was not very accommodating to us when we arrived and our table was not ready. We could not get a drink at the bar because it was full. We were not allowed to order a drink and stand by the front door either. It was very awkward and uncomfortable. Not a good start to our dining experience. Also they ran out of Brussel sprouts!
Everything was superb!
Food was good and good size portions. Service was great and the restaurant had a good ambiance.
All of our food & service was amazing! We will be back to try more!
It was wonderful from beginning to end!
Emily was a fantastic server. Brunch Food was amazing as always. My out of town friends loved it. Josephine’s never disappoints!
Stopped in while visiting Nashville. Best eggs benedict!
Food was just ok for the price
Excellent spot, and quiet enough to talk at our table. Delicious food especially the fried oysters, brussel sprouts, crab cakes and perfectly cooked salmon. Desserts delish as well. Warm, attentive server. We had trouble getting a reservation while visiting from out of town on a very busy Memorial Day weekend, and feel lucky that we scored a table for 4 at this spot.
Great restaurant in an out of the downtown location. We were recommended the chicken for two. It was amazing but too much food for two. We took the rest with us and dropped it for two homeless guys we’d talked to near our hotel. The waitstaff and front door were great. Highly recommend this place. It takes a little effort to leave downtown but highly worth it.
Great food and ambience. It was a busy time of day and our food still arrived quickly.
We had Sunday brunch and it was one of our favorite meals of the entire trip. Great cocktails and food and great service as well. We loved the location. Cute shops to walk to in the area including Draper James and Five Daughters Bakery is right around the corner. Would definitely come back here!
Josephine was a great spot for brunch. The right amount of energy and vibe in the space and all our food and drinks were delicious. Wait staff was incredible as well.
This was our first time dining at Josephine and it did not disappoint. The cocktails were both creative and delicious and the wine list was broad without being overwhelming. Although the menu was not extensive, our entrees - duck for me and crab cakes for my wife - were outstanding; fresh, flavorful, and done to perfection. Our waitress, Willow, was extremely knowledgeable, attentive, and pleasant. Overall, a great meal and wonderfully enjoyable evening!
I remember the food being much better last time we went (over a year ago). I was just disappointed with the food overall. It was just ok and we could have spent the same amount of money on some awesome food somewhere else in town.
Wonderful - food, service, setting all combined for a lovely evening
The menu was a bit limited but the food and service were good. Not open very late.
We loved everything about it. I'll be back many times again!
I chose Josephine for a late anniversary dinner for my husband and I (we were both traveling and had to wait until our schedules crossed!). I have a list of "must try" restaurants in Nashville and Josephine was next. I'm so glad that it was. I loved the atmosphere from the moment I walked in; it was industrial but comfy if that makes sense! We were seated in a little corner table where I was able to see the kitchen and bar (Really nice looking bar, definitely a place that would be great to grab a drink and catch up with friends). After being seated, we were greeted warmly by our wonderful waitress for the evening. She took our drink order and brought them quickly and then took the rest of the order. We had the Brussel Sprouts to share; they were absolutely amazing and very different than others that I have had in the past. Highly recommend! For our entrees, I had the Hangar Steak, med rare; it was done perfectly and the flavor was amazing. My husband ordered the schnitzel and he devoured every bit of it! The presentation for his was absolutely beautiful with the cream sauce and edible flowers and capers on top. We were not the only ones enjoying the evening either; the couple sitting next to us were loving their meals and recommended the deserts but we were stuffed so had to decline on this go around. The value for the atmosphere, service and food was well worth every penny that we spent.
The meal was just wonderful. Our cocktails were quite tasty and refreshing and started our meal on a pleasant note. The food was just delicious. We are looking forward to dining there again, soon.
We recommend Josephine all the time and have entertained out of town family there many times.
We enjoyed our first visit to Josephine. The service and the food was perfect. The wait staff was helpful and informative.
Great ingredients and combination of flavors. Pickled watermelon rind is a must!
Brunch with my wife. Service and food were excellent. Venue is very cool. One of my best Nashville restaurant experiences. We will definitely be back.
I had brunch with my daughter who is 16. She wanted a flavored latte and they made a latte but had no flavoring. I get it’s not Starbucks but maybe having a vanilla flavoring would be nice. There aren’t a lot of brunch options. Oatmeal or yogurt parfait would be good to offer for those not wanting eggs or heavy sweets. The atmosphere was very nice. Service was great. The food we got was very good. Would have liked to have more options.
Food did not live up to expectations. Nice restaurant but trying to be something more elevated than it is with respect to the food. The ambience, cocktails and decor are very nice but underwhelmed by the service and entrees.
Everything was excellent, can’t think of anything that was even average. Wait staff recognized us and treated us like family. There was a mistake made on the bourbon I ordered. They caught it before I even sipped it, then brought me the correct one in addition to the first drink I ordered. Only charged me for the first. It’s a little bit loud in Josephine each time we’ve gone, but it’s due to it being packed at peak times. And why wouldn’t it be, it’s an excellent restaurant!
Really outstanding food, just a shame parking is so tough. We’ll be back, but will definitely try and book off hours to avoid the catastrophe that is the location.
fantastic spot in the 12 south neighborhood. lively but not overpowering crowd and excellent ambience. very good service, they were extra careful during the pandemic. great cocktails and food.
my favorites are the chicken for two with fingerling potatoes and kale salad. another must is the apple pie with homemade salted caramel ice cream. I plan to make it a regular stop now that we are getting back out post vaccine. out of the many fine dining restaurants in nashville I would rate Josephine in the top tier.
The star ratings say it all: this place knows what they're doing. The cocktail (Beet-something) was phenomenal, a superbly sized pour, the food is incredible and comes in solid portion sizes, great ambience, and the service is top-notch. I have nothing but praise and gratitude for Josephine.
Always an notable experience. Great to get back there
Yummy. Would go again.
We made the reservation for early afternoon on Mother’s Day. We clicked on Open Table’s menu button and saw a comprehensive range of appetizers, entrees etc. and were excited to try this highly rated place.
Upon arrival, much to our surprise, it turned out only the brunch menu was available. Effectively eggs and french toast. While this isn’t necessarily Josephine’s fault I’d like to think they know how they are being positioned on the Open Table app.
This aside, we all felt the food wasn’t any tastiest or presented any better than at your typical diner. The portions were smaller as well.
Conclusion- if it’s convenient for you Josephine’s is fine. Just calibrate your expectations accordingly and make sure you know what menu is actually being served.
Went for mother's day brunch. Great atmosphere and our waitress was great. Food was fantastic as I had the benedict that recommended. Only issue was kitchen was backed up and it took about 30 minutes from ordering to food arriving.
We had a fantastic experience! From the front door greeting all the way to meeting the chef was incredible. Our server was absolutely fabulous..she was friendly, attentive, and yet unobtrusive. We will be back!!
Wonderful anniversary dinner at Josephine's. Crabcakes were excellent and I would highly recomment the chocolate torte for dessert. It was delicious!
The beef tongue and fried oysters were perfect!
And don’t even get me started on the cocktails!
Great service and easily catered to a severe allergy!
Added bonus, appropriately Covid conscious.
Our experience at Josephine was excellent. I appreciated their commitment to COVID safety and the service was excellent, from the hostess to our server.
We enjoyed a starter of fried oysters, a fresh salad, and then entrees, including a steak for my wife and the pork schnitzel for myself. Everything was expertly prepared and delicious. We enjoyed all courses as well as our cocktails and glasses of wine.
The dining room was full but not crowded and very pleasant. We could easily carry a conversation and the lights were dimmed.
Nothing about the experience was less than stellar.
