We made the reservation for early afternoon on Mother’s Day. We clicked on Open Table’s menu button and saw a comprehensive range of appetizers, entrees etc. and were excited to try this highly rated place.
Upon arrival, much to our surprise, it turned out only the brunch menu was available. Effectively eggs and french toast. While this isn’t necessarily Josephine’s fault I’d like to think they know how they are being positioned on the Open Table app.
This aside, we all felt the food wasn’t any tastiest or presented any better than at your typical diner. The portions were smaller as well.
Conclusion- if it’s convenient for you Josephine’s is fine. Just calibrate your expectations accordingly and make sure you know what menu is actually being served.
Went for mother's day brunch. Great atmosphere and our waitress was great. Food was fantastic as I had the benedict that recommended. Only issue was kitchen was backed up and it took about 30 minutes from ordering to food arriving.
We had a fantastic experience! From the front door greeting all the way to meeting the chef was incredible. Our server was absolutely fabulous..she was friendly, attentive, and yet unobtrusive. We will be back!!
Wonderful anniversary dinner at Josephine's. Crabcakes were excellent and I would highly recomment the chocolate torte for dessert. It was delicious!
The beef tongue and fried oysters were perfect!
And don’t even get me started on the cocktails!
Great service and easily catered to a severe allergy!
Added bonus, appropriately Covid conscious.
Our experience at Josephine was excellent. I appreciated their commitment to COVID safety and the service was excellent, from the hostess to our server.
We enjoyed a starter of fried oysters, a fresh salad, and then entrees, including a steak for my wife and the pork schnitzel for myself. Everything was expertly prepared and delicious. We enjoyed all courses as well as our cocktails and glasses of wine.
The dining room was full but not crowded and very pleasant. We could easily carry a conversation and the lights were dimmed.
Nothing about the experience was less than stellar.
Absolutely amazing food. Highest quality ingredients, excellent ambiance, perfect for a special occasion.
Unfortunately a disappointing return brunch at Josephine’s. I had gathered a group of women to eat and we were disappointed. I love the eggs Benedict but mine arrived at room temp. Rather than say anything I ate it. Also thought the waitress was indifferent. Had to ask for a coffee refill and others at the table had to request more tea. There was not a crowd but she did not pay much attention though she was pleasant when she did come by. Not a sterling outing for a restaurant I have loved. No one expressed a desire to repeat. And these are women who can and do eat everywhere.
Portions were extremely small for the amount being charged and the food was nothing extra special. Will not be going back or recommending to others.
We were really looking forward to eating here based on reviews. The greeting by the hostess was friendly and the cocktail waitress was delightful, but our waiter, Jake, left a lot to be desired. He seemed like he couldn't care less. He barely acknowledged us. He was simply perfunctory. The food was good and different, but the service detracted from the overall experience. We also found the noise level quite loud.
As usual, the service is efficient and not obtrusive. The food was on par with prior visits. The Schnitzel had a little different take and was crisp and delicious. Also had the duck which was cooked to perfection, but the cabbage was a little overwhelming. Overall satisfaction from the experience was positive.
Great server! The folks who dropped off food just dumped and ran- we would have appreciated a short description before they ran away. Water glasses ran empty a few times. The dining room was very Covid conscious: fresh menus, silverware dropped in fresh linen with each course, tables very well spaced. Food was good. Crab cakes and Salmon were fantastic, and stood out against everything else we tried.
We met friends for lunch and the burgers and fries were as good as you'll find in Nashville. I'd eat one again today!
Chef Andy Little is a Nashville treasure. His choices in seasonal flavors and fresh ingredients is always on point. My daughter and I have enjoyed his food from Josephine’s to Prima and back again. Tonight was one of our best experiences yet- the duck (served savory, not sweet -thank you!!!) and the schnitzel (with fresh morels!!!) sooooo good! Thank you chef Andy and team. Awesome job!
We invited a business associate to this restaurant in our neighborhood, having not been ourselves for years based on the past owner's presence. We were delighted by the experience. The waitstaff was professional and Nashville-friendly, the food was delicious and the space beautiful. I'm glad to rediscover this gem.
Great to be back! Food and service were just as good as they have been before.
The food was amazing. They served the best duck I have ever had and the happy hour burger was outstanding!
Great service, food and environment. Great menu.
We loved Josephines! It's an amazing spot! Our Server Keiffer was amazing and had a lot of fun with us! The food was the best I had in Nashville while there!
We had a fantastic experience, we had made a mistake on our reservation and they were accommodating to our party of four. The best food!!
Always a great atmosphere. Very good health protocols.
Emilee provided wonderful service and the food was beyond delicious! We will be returning and requesting Emilee if possible again :)
Birthday brunch. Service and food were great!
We reserved two tables and the Hostess made sure we sat near by to each other
Also the waitress was phenomenal taking care of both tables and dividing the bill !
Always love coming here! Great drinks and food, good ambiance, knowledgeable/friendly waiters. One of my go-to's!
The food at Josephine is out of this world. It is so refreshing to have local quality ingredients. The service was friendly and everyone seemed to work so well together. We will definitely be back!
Always an amazing spot
One of the best in Nashville. Great food with an extremely well trained staff.
The service was excellent, ambiance was wonderful, and I’m going back for the fabulous Brussels sprouts & fried oysters!!
We were here for Easter Brunch. The food was very good, and the service was excellent. The tables were further apart than they were before the pandemic, and we were given a tray with our glasses of water, silverware and cloth napkins, and a bottle of hand sanitizer. There were notecards on our table advising us about their mask policy. We felt very safe.
The brussels sprouts were the best brussels sprouts I’ve ever had in my life
Staff are A+ ---- Brunch - YES to the donuts are you are just being silly. Sandwiches all around delicious - FRYS are an absolute --- and i never eat them --- so that is saying alot
One of the best family experiences we have had in a long time!
Service was excellent! Food portions were small.
As usualy everything was excellent, but the brussell sprouts were absolutely EXCEPTIONAL!
Excellent all the way around. Great ambiance, great food, great drinks, great service, great value. Will definitely be back.
Gabriel is a fantastic server! Josephine’s is wonderful. Food is always great as well as the service.
This was our first time trying out their happy hour, the bar space was a much needed relaxing break after a crazy work week. The service was wonderful, the ambiance really is elevated compared to most in Nashville. The happy hour burger was so good, we will definitely be coming back.
Went for Happy Hour. Great service, friendly staff, good drinks, and tasty treats. We sat at the kitchen bar and it was a great experience watching them cook in the kitchen. The chef was wonderful!
I stopped into Josephine at 10:45 for brunch and it was relatively quiet. By 11:30 it started to get much busier. Great service, great food. The Benedict was delicious and unique. A bit pricey, but worth it for the ambiance and great service. $10 mimosa, but probably the best I’ve ever had!
