Just love this restaurant! Special food, service & ambiance.
Quite possibly the best steak I have ever had. Everyone at the table was beyond pleased.
Waitress was amazing! Food was wonderful.
Delicious food, great service, dining in the kitchen was a wonderful experience!!
Menu selection was extremely limited and several of the menu items were not available to us on the evening we were there. The waitress was not very friendly and while the appetizers, steak and soup we ordered had a nice presentation, the over all quality and taste of the food was not very good. We are from this area of town and would NOT recommend this restaurant to any of our friends and family.
Amazing food. Wonderful atmosphere.
It was our romantic getaway dinner! So amazing!!
The meal of a lifetime.
We love Joseph Decuis and have gone there for special occasions but are now committing to go even more often. The food quality and wine list are worth our 30 minute drive. Never been disappointed with any of their steak selections and look forward to trying the wagu burger.
Everything was excellent from start to finish. One of the best meals I’ve ever enjoyed. Truly a hidden gem in Roanoke.
Amazing as always. Thank you for dinner and the help with the wine. Greatly appreciated.
Dining experience was delightful and relaxed. We were not rushed throughout our meal and staff was efficient and competent. One area that could b improved is the seating arrangement. I stared/faced the bright sun outside (no shades or blinds on huge windows) for two hours and another in our party had a view of peeling siding on outside wall throughput her dinner. Not very enjoyable for me or an attractive view for her!
Wonderful food, great service. Bit pricey. Great for an occasion celebration.
Fabulous fine dining experience. Definitely a must do for our next special occasion dinner.
Incomparable pairing and tasting menus. True farm to table.
Have wanted to visit for several years. When we arrived the noise from the beer garden almost caused us to leave. After the noise stopped, everything was perfect. The food was superb and our waitress couldn't have been better. What a treat! (We're still talking about the cucumber gazpacho!!! Fabulous!)
We had a reservation for 4th of July weekend for my father's 76th birthday. They were not busy at all which is to be expected for this holiday weekend but we found the service to be below what we come to expect from J. Decius experience. We brought our 4 yr old daughter who is very well behaved for this type of a restaurant but we sat there for at least 15-20 min before we had to grab the hostess and ask for bread and butter so my daughter had something to nibble on. All the other tables (including those that were seated after us) received their bread and butter right away, this was an oversight on the part of our server and one that makes a difference when trying to appease a small child at a nice restaurant. When we asked for some bread and butter, the hostess asked "what kind?" which we thought to be very odd....just the normal bread that you bring to every table.
There was another issue with a liquor drink ordered. My mother ordered one of their special martini's on the menu which happened to be a vodka martini. The martini sat on the ice way too long and was watered down, additionally they served it with black olives that tasted stale and metallic. My mother could have been a little more discreet but called over the woman who seemed to be in charge of the restaurant that evening and complained about the quality of the drink. While my mother could/should have been more discreet about her complaint, the server should have immediately offered to return the vodka martini and offered to replace it with something else, no questions asked. Instead, she pried my mother with questions and questioned her knowledge of vodka martini's. When you come to J. Decius and pay the amount you pay, you expect a certain level of service which never includes questioning the customer's knowledge of the food/drink. The food was outstanding as always, we loved that they were playing more contemporary music at a great sound level, service was sub standard
We brought some friends with us to experience Joseph Decuis for the first time together. I was a wonderful experience and enjoyed our visit. The food was spectacular, we tried 3 different appetizers, a meal for each of us and wonderful desserts. We also enjoyed some wine. Our server was very nice and very knowledgeable about the restaurant and company itself. We will be back for Friday night burgers.
Thank you for a great night.
One of my top 3 meals of all time. I am always happy to make the yearly trip out, just to ensure that I'm able to dine here. This is one of my favourite places to dine of all time. The service continues to be second to none, matched only by the food. Cannot wait to return again and again and again
Service was outstanding! Atmosphere quite pleasant. The lamb was more flavorful with every bite , extraordinary our compliments to the chef! My wife and I would love to come back on a Thursday, and try the four course dinner.
Thanks again for the delightful experience.
We will definitely recommend anyone to go and enjoy the experience like we did.
Great place! It was 12 years since we had been there and just as good as the first time we went!
My wife felt the pasta was a bit bland. My dinner...chicken skins and all, was delicious!
We were surprised the waitress didn't check to see if our dinners were as expected soon after they were served. Otherwise everything was excellent.
The staff was very knowledgeable, provided great service. The food was excellent.
Just when I think I’ve had my best meal here, they continue to bring their game to the next level!
This is the diamond in the rough, simply the best restaurant in the Midwest.
Our fourth time to dine here to celebrate special events.
Have never been disappointed - and this was probably the best meal yet.
A great place to celebrate our anniversary.
The meal was outstanding as always. We truly enjoyed the morel mushrooms and the total meal. We go there several time per year and we are always impressed. We will certainly go again.
The food was amazing! Loved the morels! The only reason I’m giving it a low rating is the service was awful. Most of the diners where seated in the bar area,so our server was in there most of the time. Also, we had 2 people waiting on us, not sure who our server was.
Best steak ever. Love the fresh and local ingredients used by the chef. Loved the layout and design of the place but the music selection was odd and seemed out of place which was a bit of a distraction. Looking forward to going back!
There are no prices on the menu for the Waygu steaks, and the waitress doesn't mention they are $90 apiece. So it can be somewhat of a surprise when the bill comes.
Great experience and even better staff. Recommend the cross cut Wagyu and then finish it off with bourbon pecan chocolate cake.
Food was very good, but $90 for a 5oz steak made the value of the overall experience decrease.
We were celebrating my son's graduation with family and had a wonderful time. The food was delicious and we all enjoyed Waygu beef -which was divine, or Salmon -also amazing, and had awesome cocktails and wine with dinner. Our whole experience was what we were hoping for. If I had any complaint (and this is really minor) it was our chairs for our high-top table were 'director' type chairs and not too easy to sit in with several senior citizens. But we made it work because everything else was superb!!
A truly special dinner. The beef tallow candle with bread service is extraordinary. Everything was perfectly prepared, and served in an elegant, quiet atmosphere. One of the best fine dining experiences in the region.
The service is exceptional - and the food is even better!! It is fine dining with small town charm. Always a fantastic experience!
We enjoyed Mother's Day lunch very much. The food choices were all delicious-sounding and what we selected was superb. Portions were generous, so we were able to box some up for lunch the next day. The service was fabulous, with all staff working like a well-oiled, very friendly machine. We also loved the blood orange margarita - tasty & refreshing.
A very unique place. However, my soup had a piece of plastic in it and the service was not great.
That was the best steak I have ever eaten. I wish I lived closer so I could buy the meat at the retail store.
It is an amazing place. The Eshelman’s dedication to growing and serving healthy beautiful and creatively designed dishes is just always beyond. We are so lucky to have them in this community. After dinner we went to Bach in the Barn at their farm to hear the FW Philharmonic play which was nice enough but they had delightful tiered displays of mini desserts on every table and a bar with lovely wines and whatever. Such a nice way to celebrate our anniversary!
A gathering of close friends
