From our estate vineyard in the heart of Russian River Valley to the Pacific Coast, we stand on the shoulders of growing giants across nearly two dozen vineyard sites within the region. Our relationships with our growers are intensive, hands-on endeavors in organic and sustainable farming, minimal yield loads, and harvesting at peak ripeness for the location.     Well, John Ash used to be our “Cheers”. We ate there about twice a week, knew everyone who worked there…and it slowly went SO downhill! We stopped coming, but after a few years we decided today was the day to give it another try. Lovely!!! A couple of past servers still there and loved seeing them, but the remodel is beautiful, more open and airy, and the food and service were wonderful. Thank you and I’m sure we will be back again soon!

    Made a reservation on open table far in advance. Reserved outdoor terrace, covered, heated if necessary. Put down a $500 hold for four people on credit card. Upon arrival, we were notified there was no more outdoor seating available. The girl was very rude in saying a reservation does not guarantee the chosen seating that we reserved and it would be 40 minutes if we wanted to sit in our chosen reserved seating. We declined and were therefore seated indoors on the upper platform in the corner. We spent $600 for three adults and a child and the only thing the two moms in our group wanted was to sit outside. It was the reason we made this particular reservation. Very disappointed.

    I had a terrible experience at a Mother’s Day brunch that cost us $300 (including taxes and tip) for two people, which is $125 per person. Last year, we had a wonderful time, so I was excited to go again, but this time it was disappointing. The brunch included prime beef, but we waited 30 minutes for it to be served after the buffet opened at 10 AM. In the meantime, we had to eat fillers, which made the wait less enjoyable. While the environment was pleasant, I was surprised they allowed pets that weren't service animals in the restaurant. Additionally, there were children crying, which detracted from the experience. This is a nice establishment, and management should be more mindful of creating a relaxing atmosphere for patrons who have paid for a quality experience. Overall, I won’t be returning for brunch, especially considering we spent $300 for two people. A higher standard is to be expected at this price point.

    The outside seating was wonderful. Menu limited with Prices a little high. I had the halibut. Portion reasonable but taste boring. My wife had the asparagus salad and the shrimp and scallop crudo. Both were tasty. We were going to see a show at the LBC so time was important. The wait person was attentive and professional. We have been to John Ashe 6-8 times in the last 3 years and enjoyed our experience.

    The maitre d was charming, welcoming, and of a joyful spirit. The table was in a beautiful location and quite quiet. The woman who waited on us was extremely attentive and I am grateful for the experience.

    This is not the quality you’d expect from John Ash & Co. As a local, I’ve been there uncountable times. And always it’s been good. Speaking for myself, my soup was cold, and my steak arrived cold. Server tried to argue about it, and I invited her to touch the steak and see for herself. She wouldn’t. Server then acknowledged the chef agreed with me. I didn’t appreciate her prior arguing with me and let her know. Anyway, the plates themselves have gotten really small, and don’t reflect the John Ash atmosphere. Heavy, kiln-fired ceramic , with flat sides around them. Very strange. The presentation of food was sub par as well. Really sad what’s happened, but maybe it was an anomaly. Will go back, but only to the Front Room.

    Overall, I expected much better, Brunch for 4 - $700. Way overpriced for what it was. Then there were the little things like the mandatory 20% gratuity and an additional 3-4% for "back of house" fees. And then the charge of $6 dollars for a cranberry juice with ice. Meanwhile the others in my party received a complimentary mimosa. The drink menu was unclear as everything was priced. But the server noted, first mimosa is "part of the brunch deal". Such a deal. Food quality was OK. Prime Rib was dry, tough, and over cooked. All the potato options except the mashed potatoes, looked like they came fro the freezer case at Costco. All had a fake crusty like coating on them. Seriously. Tater Tots, versus for steamed red new potatoes or golden potatoes, from scratch? We've crossed John Ash off our list. Hopefully you are spared after this review.
