Wonderful meal in a lovely setting. Could not have been nicer.
The drinks and food were fantastic! Love this place every time we eat here. The staff is the best but the food is remarkable, I highly recommend dining here.
We enjoyed dinner very much. Food is fresh and interestingly prepared as well as beautifully presented. I would like more vegan options, but there were two entrees. Service was just the way we like it. NOT intrusive, yet attentive. The location is lovely. We were comfortably seated outdoors next to the vineyard. We will go back.
We enjoyed the evening at John Ash & Co. We usually go to the bar side for Happy Hour so this was a treat for us. Lovely meal, lovely place, lovely night.
Excellent menu from vegetarian to steak. Veranda was good temperature and not too crowded although tables were full. All a la carte so can be expensive for big appetites.
Food is fair. Servers were very nice & accommodating
For a restaurant that states it’s dress code loudly, I was disappointed to see men in shorts in the dining room.
Service was excellent. Food was meh. Meat and scallops were cooked to perfection. Additional food on plates was boring. Cocktail was short and weak. Wine list was moderately good at best.
We dined here when it was new and thought the food, wine and service were magical. Not so much tonight.
Celebrated our 15 yr anniversary after getting married here too. Lovely dinner.
Was there for a romantic dinner. Unfortunately they placed us next to a table of eight that was on their third bottle of wine. It was difficult to have a conversation.
Reading the review I expected amazing food. The salmon rillette was a nice appetizer to share. We had the special Ahi Tuna which was really bland and tasteless. The portobello Wellington was a nice vegetarian option. Too bad, the vegetable with it were terrible.
Over all not bad but not worth the high praises I saw on Open Table.
Great food & service. Good time with good friends.
Fifty characters, food was bland. Portions small. Over priced.
Setting was great, service good.
We came here for a friends birthday and we were not dissatisfied in the slightest! The food was so delicious and our waiter was extremely knowledgeable friendly and funny, Thank you Steve! Everything came in a timely manner and the ambience made the experience all the better. Will recommend to anyone looking for a fine dining experience.
Nice old school restaurant with good service, good food, and a nice upscale environment. Menu was a bit odd in theme - the Asian inspired menu items felt out of place. Feels more geared toward a more mature crowd.
Wonderful in all ways-from the waiter to the wine list to the cocktails to the food and dessert. Enjoyed everything about it!
Server was excellent. Had to wait over 1/2 hour for main course, and other tables were having same problem. Apparently only 2 kitchen workers. Arrogant manager acted like it wasn't his problem to make sure the kitchen was staffed. Then whose would it have been?Meanwhile house salad was dry and tasteless, wife's pork belly potstickers were something less that a corner Chinese take-out, Pork entre was excellent, wife's scallops were tough and chewy. No complementary bread or other amuse bouche at all, just a blank table. All in all not worth even a modest price tag.
Our server Stephani was exceptional! This restaurant never disappoints! Love the food, service and grounds! Looking forward to returning.
Love the outdoor seating and the option to add scallop for short rib dish. Yummy!
This restaurant consistently provides exceptional food and service. Our server was Eric! He was outstanding!
Love John Ash! Wonderful dining experience but a bit disappointed in the wine list. Our waiter was superb!
John Ash serves good food, provides great service, and offers wonderful wine!
Always love dining here
We always enjoy our time at John Ash. However we did notice some changes in the menu especially the desert menu. We did not like the minimal selections only 3 to choose from this time and we were there for a birthday celebration so we opted out. Bummed to see some of our favorite past times gone.
Great atmosphere, fantastic wait staff and great food.
My go to restaurant
Great drinks and dinner place. Lovely garden, felt like I was on vacation!
Always a special restaurant with great food and drink.
We celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary. This was one of our favorite places. The quality in the food is not the same, the menu is more limited. No specials were offered. We were disappointed....
Caesar salad way too much mayonnaise or buttermilk in the dressing. Bland and not a speck of lemon. The anchovies tasted like herring or were they? Husband had the carbonara and it too was very bland. I had the braciole and the meat was quite tough.. polenta ok, but not great. Friend had the fish soup... not great either. She thought it was made with Trader Joe's Tomato and Red Pepper soup with a few fish thrown in.
Not going to return for those prices.
Service way way too slow.
Glad to see John Ash back. Always an excellent experience.
We made reservations for two. The initial seating we were offer was next to path used by servers to server the remaining persons in the room. I declined the seat and was seated outside. Not optimal because we had 8:15 reservations. Recommendation: take that table for two out of use. It was inappropriate for a restaurant of their reputation and price range. Suggestion: add seating request when making the reservation, but I could not have because I did not know what was available.
Another lovely time at John Ash Restaurant. It was Friday evening, 8 of us. The waiter at our table was professional, and friendly. The scallop entree was delicious. I also tried the pork tenderloin which was good. I though the brick oven chicken lacked flavor. The rhubarb cheesecake was tasty and so was the chocolate creme pot. The service, food and ambience have been consistently good. It is one of my favorite restaurants in Sonoma County.
All 3 of us really enjoyed our food selections. We had a table outside at edge of garden and vineyard. Quiet and roomy. Service was very good for a busy Friday night.
This is our favorite restaurant in Sonoma County. The food is always exceptional and we continue to be amazed at the quality and consistency. Definitely the place to celebrate important events and milestones!!
Unparalleled experience, even as we are Sonoma County residents and have an array of extremely choice fine dining experiences easily available to us. Why we waited so long to try John Ash is beyond me. I do not have the words to properly describe the exquisiteness of our meal. Frankly, even the garnish here is better than other restaurants’ signature dishes. We were seated at a quiet, cozy booth that came with matching lumbar-support pillows that our middle-aged backs were grateful for.
Service and food were exceptional! I had the bacon wrapped tenderloin and it was cooked to perfection.
Service inattentive. Service slow. Think they may be short handed with help. Not like John Ash we have loved for some time.
There was a constant rush to remove our plates while still eating by different servers.
Otherwise food , ambiance very good
The table, the ambiance, the food, and the wine were all amazing. The server on the other hand seemed out off and acted as if he would rather be somewhere else. Ruined an otherwise perfect evening.
An enjoyable, upscale white-table cloth venue with seating next to a vineyard. The wait staff was very friendly, quick to respond, and all with positive attitudes. Our salads (endive; baby greens) were excellent and our main courses (Portobello mushroom Wellington; braised prime short ribs) were good, though not noteworthy. Certainly a lovely venue, and upscale establishment for a special occasion, though the quality of food did not rise to the physical quality of the restaurant and its vineyard setting. We would recommend this restaurant, with the foregoing qualifications.
Excellent food and service! Portions could be a little bigger.
