Excellent food, service and atmosphere! Great anniversary dinner!!
the staff great, and the food was amazing. overall experience was a 10.
One of my favorite happy hour locations. Great food and drink, reasonably priced, and a beautiful setting.
We were socially distanced outside, lovely ambience, food and wine excellent, as always!!!
A venerable old restaurant lives up to its reputation. Its spacious indoor space (now useless during thr pandemic) and its extensive menu selection harkens back to a prior era in fine Bay Area dining. The food however remains excellent, the service attentive yet informal, the prices decent by area standards for a high end restaurant. Food wime list selection of mostly local wines.
Returned to John Ash & Co for dinner after our first visit last year. All outside seating was a delight on a warm summer evening. Excellent food and service.
Wonderful setting outside in the vineyard, staff very Covid conscious, wait staff very accommodating
We regularly eat here but it was the first time for friend. They loved everything!
We had an amazing dinner and visit at John Ash. We were celebrating with a large group and the service to the food was outstanding! Great Experience!
So amazing we went back again 4 days later! Excellent menu, wine menu and service. Outdoor seating was wonderful.
Food was excellent, dining outdoors next to the vineyard makes it more enjoyable.
Outstanding food, great covid planning and atmosphere service top notch!!
John Ash has a great reputation and every time we visit, the food is excellent. Things are a little different now with Covid-19, but the food and service are still excellent.
Very pleasant experience. Food was great. Ambiance was very peaceful. Waiter was very attentive. My fiancee had the lamb trio and I had the salmon special. Both were excellent.
Great waiter delicious food and wonderful ambiance on their patio
Our four dinners were delicious, plated artistically and simply wonderful . We were celebrating our anniversaries and they brought us a lovely plate of desserts. The evening was perfect.
Wife and I went to dinner for our anniversary. Food, cocktails and wait staff were all excellent as they always are. Had a great experience and can't wait to go back.
Always great food and service. Have dined there many times and never disappointed.
Our favorite place! Always so relaxing with great food and wonderful staff.
Our experience was fabulous! Great food and drinks and Thomas is an attentive waiter. Always love our time there!
Unfortunately on the night we were there, There was a kitchen mix up so our hamburgers took over an hour. We were in the bar area so not there to dine.
The waiter was wonderful but could not do anything to speed things up.
We did get a dessert which was very nice and they did the best they could.
We love the atmosphere at John Ash the people that work there are like family to us, we love Thomas, Sam, Cristy and all the servers and employees, they always make us feel so welcome when we are there.
This was a wedding celebratory dinner. Restaurant was notified in advance and was asked to make it special. Upon arrival, did not really acknowledge the special day and service was a bit stuffy and pretentious. Beautiful grounds and the patio is gorgeous. Food was slightly above average. Filet was preferred medium and arrived medium rare. Was not asked soon enough how food was prepared or asked to cut into meat to determine whether properly cooked. Wine overpriced but given CA you can always bring your own. For dessert, they did bring a small presentation of creme brûlée with a few truffles but again not overly enthusiastic in presentation given special occasion. Would probably return for a second chance but only in non-COVID time to compare experiences. Moderately disappointed experience.
The food is consistently wonderful. Fresh and intriguing flavor combinations. The scallops were cooked to perfection and the lamb trio was delicious. The olive crusted swordfish was so unique and the combination was extremely good. To finish it off we had the gelato dessert which came with a cookie and a brownie. Yum! Service was very nice as well, allowing us to enjoy our meal and evening out.
They have had outdoor/patio seating for years so the setup was nothing new even in these strange times. Loved the evening - thanks you!
John Ash continues to prepare the best food in the area. Furthermore, they've done exceptionally in accommodating the conditions of social distancing. They've opened the parts of the restaurant that always could be open to the outside, and have set up many tables in the grass outside. Each table has its own tent, and they've built heaters that are scattered among the tables. Good show, John Ash!
Birthday dinner for my wife. The service was excellent and so was the food. Nice portions and great tastes. I appreciate they offer dishes for vegans. My wife enjoyed the scallops and they must be good as she also ordered them when we went there for our anniversary dinner.
We love John Ash. It’s a beautiful setting, the food is reliably excellent, and the wait staff is among the best in Sonoma County!
Good food, they have a great patio where you can sit and eat outside, nice service. Pricey, but not outrageously so. A solid 4 stars.
Fantastic food, service and patio. They are always consistent and live up to the expectation every time.
A special place for our anniversary or anytime you want outstanding food!
If you go to Napa, you have to go here! Such a beautiful place! Outstanding service, perfect ambient and stellar food!
Went to the Sonoma area for wife's 50th birthday. This restaurant has great views and a beautiful garden attached to the outdoor seating area. The service was adequate but nothing to rave about and the food was marginally about the same. The highlight was the Parker House rolls (although nothing in comparison to the actual rolls from the Parker House restaurant in Boston). The pork tenderloin was bland and really did not come through with any pizzaz, especially for the price. Wife had the filet and was not impressed either. All the food was edible but over priced for what the chef created in relationship to taste.
Go for the views.
A beautiful restaurant within a vineyard......
awesome food and wine.
Thank you for a great meal and evening!
We will return!

Sister get together.
outstanding, as always. Excellent food and service.
The food was wonderful the staff was very kind and the setup was beautiful. I felt very comfortable being there during this time of social distancing.
We've eaten at John Ash many times, and as always the food, service and ambience was wonderful. Lovely patio dinning. Their plating of food is artistic and well as delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Great happy hour, lovely outside space and always good food!
We went for my birthday dinner and went all out. This is one of our favorite wine country stops. We had a couple Makers Mark Manhattans to start, a generous drink portion. The began with a fig salad with goat cheese. We paired our dinner with a Bricoleur Viognier (local wine) from their very nice wine list. My wife had the pork loin and I had the Day Boat scallops; both were excellent. We do not do desserts very often, so we opted for the cheese board paied with a Merry Edwards Late Harvest Sauvignon Blanc and a Sonoma Portworks Tawny Port. The weather was warm, a little smoky from the fires but pleasant.
They are taking all the Covid-19 protocols seriously, masks and cleaning everything. Our server Erik was excellent as were his helpers. A thoroughly enjoyable evening.
We always love John Ash!!! Ambience, food, service is always the best!
