Beautiful location, lovely ambiance and great service. They are really going the extra step to make you feel safe during covid.
During this unprecedented times, it was a very nice dining experience at John Ash& Co.
All Covid protocols are being filled; we felt very safe during our visit.
The dining room and beautiful bar are closed, but the patio and exterior grounds are beautiful and being well used.
Our service was both professional and attentive.
We dined on freshly baked ParkerHouse rolls, baked Oysters with Parmesan Custard, Sweet Corn Soup, King Salmon with Blackberries and Grilled Pork Chop with Bourbon Peaches. Nice Chocolate Truffles were complimentary st the end of the evening.
If you are in the Santa Rosa area, you will enjoy an great evening here.
We had a lovely dinner on the lawn!
We had a nice spot on the back lawn & the food as well as our service was sensational!
We’ll definitely be going back.
I recommended John Ash to my office partner & he’s going with his wife to celebrate their anniversary this Friday.
Thanks for the memorable evening.
Loved it. Our waiter Steve is the best.
Excellent food every time. They were very accommodating and allowed us to customize our orders. Their outdoor dining experience is delightful.
Amazing ambiance, food was good - not great. Happy hour made it worth it.
We had a great dinner. Our waiter was very attentive and gave great information.
Really enjoyed everything about this place. The food was spectacular, the drinks even better.
Absolutely beautiful outdoor dining in the wine country. All social distancing and sterilization procedures were strictly followed. Friendly staff, outstanding food, beautiful surroundings. Can’t wait to go back!
The outdoor tables are a delight. Outside on the lawn between the restaurant and the vineyard was a wonderful place to enjoy our excellent meals.
Great service and delicious food! My husband and I went for happy hour and they had socially distant tables set up outside.
My husband and I eat out very often using Open Table because I always trust the quality of the restaurants they feature. This time it was a disaster!
First of all, the seating. We were given a table under an awning close to the exit of the restaurant with a lot of draft. I asked for a different table and was given a table on the lawn, close to their "pergola". I wished they had sat us their because it was very cold out in the open. There were other people seated there, but I didn't ask to seat there, thinking that since we had made a reservation, rather late, it was on a first come basis.
Our waiter, Thomas greeted us and brought us the bottle of wine my husband ordered and took our appetizer selection and left the table. At first I thought he wanted to give us time to relax before taking our entree order. That was nice, but he didn't come back. I was not only cold but hungry at the same time. So, my husband and I thought we would skip the entrees even though I wanted to order the scallops. I was so cold and the only thing I was thinking was to order a soup, but Thomas was nowhere by our table, so I flagged down another waiter and asked him to bring us 2 corn soup. Well Thomas must have realized he had ignored us and brought 2 soup spoons. He never apologized to us.
Being still hungry and cold, I ordered a strawberry shortbread and a cup of hot tea.
Very disappointed with the shortbread that was tasteless. It should have been sweeter. the strawberries were not very perfumed either.
The Maitre d/manager never came around to ask if we were happy. He might have been able to save our evening.
I can't remember having such a bad experience in an Open Table restaurant.
We will not come back.
Perfect outdoor setup for the current situation. Also - the beautiful setting was working in harmony with the lovely weather. The staff is always friendly, professional, and attentive. Last and definitely not least - they prepare both delicious food and tasty cocktails! It is always a pleasure to dine at John Ash. We’ll be back!
We absolutely love coming here! We just live right off of Barnes Road so it is our go-to spot for cocktails and amazing food on a Friday night.
Love Happy Hour!!! You can’t go wrong with any of the food, but our favorites are the Fish Tacos!!! We had them everywhere, even at Tom Keller’s restaurant in Yountville, and they don’t come close to John Ash’s Fish Tacos!! My go to cocktail is the Rosemary Drop!! So glad you guys have outdoor dining!!Thank You🤗🌮🍹
My girlfriend and I went for a happy hour and the food was amazing, service was great, and the ambience was beautiful. Thank you for a great time.
This is always at the top of our list. Consistently excellent on every level. In fact, it was the first restaurant we've actually eaten at since the beginning of the pandemic. A delightful evening, as always.
disappointed - took my husband for his 1st time
nice outside seating
service was slow & not very good, e.g., never topped off our water or cleared finished plates
swordfish was good but paper thin
strawberry shortcake delicious!
shorter menu in this Covid-19 era but excellent preparation to fine details.
I loved my fish tacos at lunch, my pork chop at dinner.
Waiters were amazing!!!
Also, don't ever lose the chef and sous chef😊
Amazing food, great service, and they took great care with COVID precautions.
Great food. Great service. Nice ambiance. Our server, Thomas was the best server ever and he made an amazing house Manhattan. Definitely going back.
Our food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the outdoor seating was beautiful.
Everything was great for the situation we are experiencing. The food was tasteful but a little on the pricey side.
Service was awesome as usual
Very nice patio dining with heaters. Best restaurant visited so far during pandemic.
It was wonderful great place to experience beautiful scenery
Excellent food, loved the garden, we felt safe all restaurant staff wore masks/gloves.superb service.
Everything was first rate and emphasized safety. Our waiter(s) were great, the food was perfect, and the seating was wonderful.
The only sour note ws while we were leaving, a large group of 25ish year old partiers were entering with no masks on at least 50% of them. We were on our way out the door, but this group had made it past the front desk not wearing masks, and didn't appear to have masks to wear either.
Just ok. Pretty view. Maybe it’s better without COVID-19....
My wife and I had dinner there with her sister and brother-in-law. The food was extremely delicious, and the service was very good. There are both unique and familiar menu selections, and the chef does a great job combining ingredients with the right herbs, spices and sauces. The menu selection presentations are photographic. Super Yummy too! The grounds are beautiful and the adjacent vineyards makes you feel like you're in Europe; enjoying casual fine dining, great wine and a very comfortable atmosphere/ambiance!
The pork chop & steak are delicious, but they also had great vegetable & pasta options, and an excellent variety of starters.
As always the food was fantastic and service was impeccable. Can’t recall our waiters name but he’s been our server many times during previous visits and he is FANTASTIC!! It’s alway a delight to spend time at JohnAsh and the outside garden seating has been a real plus to an already positive experience. Please keep it going even after this pandemic ends. We can’t say enough about how delightful the entire experience is. Many thanks!
We celebrated our 5th anniversary with good food and drinks in this special place that we spent our wedding night.
All-in-all a very nice experience. Very limited vegetarian options which was disappointing.
Great experience even during the pandemic times, all staff there to ensure our safety and service for our meal and service. I highly recommend during these times.
Great social distancing and really nice outdoor space.
We had a delightful meal, with absolutely excellent, professional, courteous service. Our waiter listened attentively and provided suggestions based on our preferences. Our evening was perfect in this gem of a restaurant.
We do not go out to eat often but when we do, we ONLY go to John Ash happy hour.
We’ve been there many, many times for Birthdays, Anniversaries, Valentine’s Day, Work Promotions, and just a weeknight dinner date... I proposed there, we will be getting married there! Our favorite place!
John Ash was a wonderful place to celebrate my Birthday. The food is amazing and the Service is Fast and Friendly and Professional. They always know when to bring your next course. Never to early, never to late. They gave a nice Birthday surprise with mini Creme Brulee and strawberries.
