Joe's is consistently one of the best steakhouses in town, and you shouldn't even order steak. Stone crabs are where it's at.
Very good in overall, but too crowded without separate waiting space
Person that seated us was extreme rude and snarky. Didn’t get seated until 40min past our reservation. Food was extremely salty. Very disappointed.
Excellent Sunday dinner, easy to talk and enjoy a fantastic meal!
I have eaten at both locations; Miami and Chicago.
I feel the Miami location has BETTER FOOD with
GOOD Presentation; Better Service ; and what is
most important to me when I am eating out
FOOD TEMPERATURE. At this location in Chicago
with the numerous times I have eaten here I have
to request eat time whether it is potatoes; bisque
or meat please reheat this dish.
We frequent Joe's year round, but always look forward to halibut season. This years grilled bone in halibut steak was fantastic.
Wonderful food and service. Stone crabs are a must try for everyone.
This was amazing! We had reservations prior to attending the theatre. The food and service was amazing. I never have had crab legs this fresh! I cant wait to go back for the stone crab claws!
The oysters from Canada were the best I've ever eaten! The staff was knowledgeable and polite. I will be going back without a doubt!
We celebrated my daughter’s 18th birthday here and had a wonderful experience. Service, food and ambience are all top-notch. Joe’s is one of the best restaurants in Chicago for a special occasion.
Birthday. They gave the birthday person a nice dessert.
Wonderful food and service! Great time!
This was only our second time there within the last 3 years but food was excellent, from appetizers to entrees. We were celebrating my husband’s Birthday our server brought a chocolate cake with Steve’s name and he was 55. We informed our server nd he retrieved the cake. Brought a pice of chocolate pie to celebrate. I did indicate chocolate cake in my notes but figured we get a a slice of cake - not a whole cake. It was entertaining and we got a laugh out of it. Hope Steve got his cake! I also meant to sign up for rewards but left the restaurant without receipt. I will call the restaurant to find out
We were visiting from NYC and were making a direct comparison with our local favorites, such as Peter Luger. The large stone crab claws with mustard sauce were incredible but the 60 day dry aged, bone-in steak was surprisingly lacking in flavor. We enjoyed the hash brown and brussel sprouts sides. Definitely no room for dessert.
This was our first time here, and it not be our last. EVERY part of our dining experience was excellent. Our waiter, Jose, was phenomenal.
great experience. make sure to get the stone crab. service was excellent. because it was our first visit the manager gave us our dessert on the house.
We feasted on stone crabs. What else?
Joe’s coleslaw is awesome too!
Went to Joe’s for our 10th Anniversary. Food was fantastic! Stone crab claws were amazing
Excellent food and pretty good service. My only issue may relate to the very tight nature of the seating. No question that every last inch of the main dining room is maximized. Makes it loud and tough to get comfortable.
Excellent experience with knowledgeable, professional servers and food was great!
The stone crab claws were amazing and the “bone in halibut” outstanding. Our server Charles was simply the best. The bar was a bit backed up so our second round of drinks were on the House as was the most delicious slice of key lime pie for dessert. What a great night!
Although we had reservations we still experienced a short wait..about 10 minutes.
Other than that the food was great. Excellent fish and steak options. Good ambience.
Server Martha was fantastic. Spot on with recommendations.
The dinner was not rushed. Overall about 3 hours.
Coffee and dessert selections were fantastic, not overpriced for the size and quality.
Highly recommend this restaurant.
Our server, Emily was spectacular! She kept a watchful eye on us and attended to our needs before we ever had a chance to ask. Not one hiccup!
And—as usual—Dana whipped-up delicious cocktails.
I rarely gush about LEYE restaurants; past experiences have been mediocre at best. My dinner at Joe's changed all that. This is the gold standard that epitomizes old-school dining; impeccable service, attention to details, and delicious food. We were a tad early, and our longer-than-usual-wait was rewarded with a comfortably posh booth. A beautifully staged basket of seasoned lavosh, roll, and artisanal bread was immediately presented. We had studied the menu and made our choices, but switched teams mid-game when our server expounded on items not previously in the running. This turned out to be a wise decision. My partner chose a grilled seafood plate consisting of lobster tails, scallops, and shrimp. It was fresh, hot, and perfectly prepared in a light butter and herb sauce. I went headfirst into a 16 oz rib-eye that practically fell apart when the knife touched the meat. It's no exaggeration to say this was one of the best steaks I've been served-grilled medium, with a touch of salt and pepper; nothing else. Sides are à la carte; we shared a heavenly creamed spinach and baked sweet potato; good enough on its own, but better with the maple walnut butter accompaniment. You will find more expensive surf and turf offerings in Chicago's myriad of like-joints, but you won't do better than Joe's.
The food was amazing. Out of a scale of 1 to 10 where 10 is fabulous, I’d give out waiter an “11”!
Food was excellent. We had the Mahi Mahi and sautéed spinach. We also had th Joe's Chopped Salad with Joe's vinaigrette. It was outstanding. The service from Steve and his assistants was also excellent. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Love it every time
been going to Joes for over 12 years, never had a bad meal. our server was pleasant and always there when needed. we were seated into a booth, little crowded for the 4 of us.
Amazing food, atmosphere and attention. I highly recommend Joe’s for any occasion.
AMAZING!!! Wouldn’t change a thing!!! Keep up the good work!
We had an amazing Crab dinner here. Our server Coleen was fantastic and really helped us choose our perfect meal. The food and wine was delicious and we would love to come again if we are back in Chicago.
Great food and great service. Thank you
Took my cousin and family to celebrate his birthday (incl 25-yr old son John). John works in a field where they wine and dine clients, so chose Joe's as we wanted best steak and seafood. Joe's did not disappoint--the stone crabs for appetizers + mustard sauce was excellent, the steaks enormous and delicious. The branzino was not great, bland and disappointing texture.
Should have had the special--halibut. The mashed potatoes and creamed spinach were a great throw-back to old-style steak house fare. Waitress was so experienced and great in guiding choices. We were treated to 2 complimentary desserts for first-timers and the birthday. Coffee was superb. Tea was brewed! not tea bags! Prices can be high but the fun evening was worthwhile. Don't forget to get Lettuce Entertain You points!
Truly enjoyed our waiter, very friendly and catering.
We were shopping in the area on a Sunday and decided last minute to see if we could grab a table. It was no problem. Nothing was a problem. Everything was just great. The service and ambiance are top flight. And the food was delicious. We had the stone crab with a bone-in filet that were both outstanding. Oysters on the half shell were also very fresh and tasty. It is not an inexpensive restaurant but the experience is worth the price for a special occasion.
I had a great experience at this restaurant. The food was amazing and the service was above average. I would visit again. MAKE A RESERVATION!!!
True Old Chicago feel.
As a former waitress, was in awe of the smooth system/operation they had in place for how busy it was. They were efficient and the service and speed was amazing. Even our bar girl went out of her way to get us seated at a high top (Especially since it was me and two 60-something year old ladies...I’m 32).
One person in our party felt her halibut was overly seasoned. However, our waiter went above and beyond to make up for that by serving slices of their signature desserts. The rest in the party had an excellent meal. Would definitely go back again, first for the service, second to try another dish.
Joe's is so ridiculously good that we cannot get enough of it. Every special occasion, we try to go. Our server, Justin, was outstanding - patient, but attentive, knowledgable, but not pushy. King crab legs, stone crab claws, dover sole, steaks and seafood platters were all amazing. Get fried chicken for an appetizer and ask the kitchen to cut it up for you. It's the city's best-kept secret. Desserts are amazing, too - Havana Dream (tres leches) pie, peanut butter pie, key lime (of course). Everything is delish!
Food was great. I did not like the location of the table for 7 they gave us. We felt very cramped into a small space.
When I got done with the meal I did not get my LEYE points that were due me.
I had to call Joe's to get them put into their system.
The food and drinks were excellent; everyone in our party of 10 enjoyed what they ordered. Our only complaint is that we were crowded at the table and our table was crowded next to other tables.
Wonderful in every way.
Joe's is a very nice restaurant with excellent service but for some reason food is not as great as it used to be especially for the money you pay there. Valet very lazy!!
