Jimmy's An American Restaurant & Bar Ratings and Reviews
Jimmy's is always on our "must visit" list when we're in Aspen. Regarding meals, its the highlight of our trip! The staff is always extremely knowledgeable and professional and we've never had a bad meal! Probably the best steak I've ever had! Keep up the good work!
What a great find! A locally-owned restaurant that's been in Aspen for 20 years. Our first time and the food and service were phenomenal. We were pleasantly surprised by the knowledge of our server about tequila and whisky, which we drink often. Their Japanese whisky selection is one of the best I've seen, and we splurged on the Hibiki 17 year old. The sommelier was also very helpful in assisting us to choose a great bottle of burgundy to go with our steaks. The place was packed when we were there and the atmosphere was a lot of fun. We will definitely return on our next trip.
My group of three ordered mussels, lobster mac and cheese and a 20 oz. ribeye. The lobster mac and cheese literally had no lobster in it. Not a single piece. We mentioned this to our waiter, thinking that, perhaps there had been some mistake. He brought us a second order of the dish and, once again, zero lobster (and very little cheese). The dish was basically some plain macaroni with a tiny bit of cheese baked on the top. Disappointing, to say the least. The mussels were ok, but its white wine sauce was nothing to praise. We didn't even want to dip our bread in it, as I usually want to do with a good white wine sauce. When the waiter removed the dish from our table, he did it so quickly that he sloshed mussel/wine sauce all of the table and floor. He didn't even notice nor did he bring a replacement napkin upon request after I used mine to clean up the mess. The steak was acceptable and the mashed potatoes it came with were actually good. The meal concluded it a "Volcano Cake" for desert - also nothing to write home about. Basically a Little Debbie's Hostess cake with some fudge sauce on top. Clearly not fresh ingredients and probably not even made on site. This restaurant was not worth our time or money.
This was a reservation for my spouse’s birthday, made weeks in advance. Our table was in the wait staff station, beside a ratty drape that covered an outside deck used for storage. Waitstaff for the entire restaurant had to circle our table constantly, squeezing between our chairs and the booth beside us. Later in our meal, we were asked to stand so that a wheelchair patron could enter the restaurant. Staff pulled our table into the room, opened a sliding door unto the unused storage deck where the patron and family waited, and led them all through the aisle where our table had been. (Our table had been blocking the only fire egress/handicapped access in the restaurant!). We were left standing in the middle of another aisle, so we moved our table chairs etc. back in place to continue our meal (no help from staff). Our waitress was slow and snarky to the only staff member who seemed to realize we were customers, rather than people who were in their way all night. Anton you rock, but we will not return.
My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at Jimmy’s on Christmas Eve. We loved everything about Jimmy’s. The service was excellent. The staff was friendly. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was casually elegant. I highly recommend this restaurant. It is a must do when in Aspen.
We went for the steaks and were not disappointed! There were 10 of us - two families after a hard day skiing we came hungry and left very full and smiling. The sommelier was excellent and recommended an excellent cabernet to go with the steaks, the service was very friendly and precise, the steaks were perfect! Cooked exactly as each person ordered. A testament to a good restaurant is when no one even bothers to ask for any salt or pepper. Every dish was perfectly seasoned. If you like steaks the Rib Eye Cap was excellent. Surprises? Well we ordered the lamb chops and their legendary crab cakes as an appetiser. Well the lamb chops just blew us away - it was that good! Would definitely dine here again!
I had top sirloin, the meat did not seem the quality I would expect, texture and flavor were not good. I generally get better steak at home, that is not normal, the steak houses I generally go to are better than home. All else about the place was very nice.
Visiting Aspen for the first time only for a short weekend I wanted to make the best of my experience and indulge on everything Aspen had to offer. My raft guide, a local to the area, told me about Jimmy's and Jimmy's Bodega when I had asked for recommendations saying that it was a local favorite for the best craft cocktail and steak around town. Needless to say, my experience at Jimmy's was phenomenal. We were lucky enough to get a patio seat right around dusk with what I could only imagine being one of the best restaurant views in Aspen. The waitress was very kind and attentive and made us feel right at home offering her favorites on the menu and was able to help find the perfect steak for our appetite. She sold me on the Ribeye. It was outstanding! Perfectly cooked and plated beautifully, not to mention Jimmy's wine director made a personal visit to the table and paired a beautiful wine for the steaks we ordered. Hands down one of the better dining experiences I've had in some years. I would highly recommend visiting Jimmy's if you can manage to get a reservation. It's not hard to see why this restaurant thrives in Aspen. I will most certainly visit again next time I'm in town.
We had the best time at Jimmy's on our vacation in Aspen! The cocktails were incredible - creative and the ice was amazing - crystal clear giant ice cubes. My drink with the japanese whisky and madeira was so unexpected and delicious. We had the halibut and the rib eye cap - yum! And the wine list was great - when we were there, they were doing a promotion with a glass of wine matched to a region on the Tour de France. Will definitely be back on our next trip!
Jimmy's is celebrating it's 20th year and it's easy to see why it's been around so long. We've been coming here for forever and it's always consistent quality - great steaks, the best crab cakes and I am always impressed by how knowledgable the staff is. Great spot, we'll keep coming for the next 20 years!
1) When they called to confirm we were coming to the reservation we was assured we would get a window seat, but we did not get one.
2) We were barely spoken to during our whole dinner experience.
3) We got an eye roll when we requested a wine list on paper vs. on an iPad.
4) Watched a whole dinner plate dumped onto the table next to us
Overall we did not feel welcome. For the $$$$ we spent we expected more. We were hoping to impress our out-of- town guests, but needless to say they were not impressed & neither were we. Not going back.
I made this reservation months ago. I confirmed it when they called and when we got there they seated us in a table by the entrance to the kitchen. Our reservation was for 7:30 and we were out of the restaurant by 8:15. I have never been so rushed in my life. They wanted us in and out so they could have the table. It was terrible. Food was fine but it didn't matter. I felt like I was doing in a fast food restaurant for an obscene amount of money. It was my first time in Aspen and my last time at Jimmy's
