The dishes were incredible in composition and flavor, the server was friendly and knowledgeable, the service was impeccable, and the ambiance was personal.
In short, it was an experience in what fine dining aspires to be.
The service was excellent. I had the Pepper Steak and the steak itself was excellent but the pepper sauce was not what I had hoped for. My wife did have the Salmon and it was excellent. In hindsight I wish I had ordered the steak filet as it was a much better size steak than the one I received for the pepper steak, but the meat was excellent. I would have gave a 5 star for food except for the pepper sauce for the steak.
Great for lunch with friend. Appreciate the fact that is NOT a loud atmosphere as in many restaurants.
Delicious food and phenomenal service. Best scallops I've had in Alaska!
Great & varied menu. This was a celebration of 3 birthday! It was fantastic. Staff fantastic. We will return!
Our favorite restaurant in Anchorage. We have been going there for years. When we have guests in town this is our go to spot.
Jen’s always delivers. The food is excellent! The wait staff unobtrusive but watchful. I enjoyed the scallops served with roast potatoes and a pea purée, as well as blanched vegetables that had a toothsome bite. My husband had halibut served with mushrooms over rice I think, again, excellent. He never wants a dessert but wants to share mine and didn’t like my choice so I let him choose. He chose the Danish jellied berries with a pour of heavy cream, not my idea of heaven but he liked it. I would have preferred their chocolate mousse which is incredible.
Food was exceptional, service was great. They even went the extra mile for our anniversary.
Great atmosphere and food. Service wonderful. Even took photo for birthday celebration
Food was great. Music didn't really fit establishment. Service was OK.
Birthday celebration. Nicely done.
the food and service were excellent as always-had Portuguese Rockfish w Key Lime pie for dessert
Patrick is the best waiter in Anchorage. Food is always perfect.
We brought our daughter here to celebrate her golden birthday. The food and service was great. A nice touch with the sparkler and card from staff.
Linen tablecloths, knowledgeable waitstaff, great menu and outstanding food! This one is a keeper. Don’t go if in a hurry, as each item is individually prepared and can take longer. But well worth the wait. The peppered steak was outstanding. Halibut was also.
Jens never fails to please. Even something as simple as their house salad will make you notice this is a special place. its not just food at Jens... it's an event to be savored!
We had not been to Jens' for lunch or dinner for several years and decided to give it a try recently when taking some friends to lunch. We wanted somewhere that wasn't Downtown and somewhere we could talk without shouting over the din of clattering plates and other diners. We also chose it on the basis of the varied menu selection. It did not disappoint. Food was excellent, noise level acceptable and the service was great too. Some of the items are a little pricey for a lunch menu but that's Anchorage.
Great place. Our friends agreed it was a great choice too.,\
Jens never disappoints. We shared the calamari appetizer with a bottle of Taylor Sauvignon blanc. We frequently go to Jens and only have this appetizer .... the sauce is perfect. Next we shared the asparagus salad which was fresh, crisp and delicious. My companion had the salmon and I had the halibut, both fresh. The fish was cooked perfectly; semi translucent and not overdone. My mushroom sauce was the best I’ve ever had. We were most satisfied with the food and the service despite it being a full house on a Saturday night. We felt welcome, pampered and appreciated. Jens has reliable service and food ... always recommend to those who ask.
When in Anchorage I usually find a higher to dine here. In a rut, I usually order the Halibut, sometimes a filet. The food is invariably superb. The wait staff is attentive and polite. I typically have a final glass before asking for my check, and am given all the time I need to enjoy it Highest recommendation for Jen’s
Had a great experience, service was great even though they were busy. Food was amazing! Recommend to everyone, at least once
Amazing food that is reasonably priced and a pretty good wine list. I reduced the ambiance rating after two different waiters gave us a stern look when we only ordered appetizers (plus food to go) on two different occasions. We both felt "judged" and not as comfortable as we would feel in a nice restaurant.
I only used your service to get points.....and you denied them. That’s my experience. I’ll stop using you in the future.
What a find. The food was great as was the service and ambiance. Highly recommend to anyone.
We have been going to Jen’s for our anniversary for many years. They play “Love and Marriage” over the speakers , give you a dessert with a sparkler and take your picture! Add this to excellent food and service and it’s a grand event!
Four of us had the halibut and sent back totally clean plates. Our guests were from Europe and have eaten all over the world. They commented more than once that this was a top 5 meal for them. We would give the food 10 stars rather than 5 but you didn't give us that option. Super good service, food, evening. Thank you!
Jen's is the best kept secret in Anchorage. We always bring visitors to enjoy the great cuisine.
Food was really delicious. My beet and hemp salad was probably the best salad I have ever eaten. However, service was slow. Our entrees apparently sat so long waiting to be brought to us that they were basically room temperature rather than hot. Also, tt took about 20 minutes for our server to clear dessert and bring our check, this despite repeated attempts on our part to get his attention.
Excellent meal and fantastic congenial service - THE go-to spot for special occasions.
Sat outside. Service was spotty. Food took a long time to arrive and had to ask for refills on drinks. When food arrived, it was not hot. My steak was not cooked as ordered and had two different ‘done-ness’ areas. One medium and the other well (was ordered medium rare). Spicing on the lamb we ordered was off and didn’t do justice to the meat. Would have sent it back but had already been there for two hours. This was a surprise as the last time we were there it was excellent.
Again we received super excellent food and service at Jens. Jens also recognized two birthday girls with free dessert and cards. Thank you Jens!!
Our waitress was wonderful. She really made us feel welcome and was so accommodating for all our questions
The waitress clearly forgot about us...we consistently had to ask her to come back etc.
One steak was flavorless and the mousse was blah.
Our reservation was at 6:30pm. We stayed until 10:00pm.This fact should tell how we enjoyed our dinner at this popular restaurant with good reputation.
Always delicious and the atmosphere is pleasant.
The beet salad and rockfish was excellent.
Everything was good but nothing stood out as great. Food was nice, well prepared but somewhat safe and predictable. Service was attentive enough but not warm or engaging.
The calamari a la picatta is very good. The hard to pronounce dessert is also good! As well as the flourless chocolate cake. Our waiter was very nice and made excellent recommendations! I would recommend this place
Excellent as always.
Expertly matched wines to our delicious courses. The Charcuterie Plate was delightfully paired cheeses & meats with fruits, nuts and large caper berries. My husband enjoyed the raw oysters and sauces for their freshness and the lovely fragrant Riesling.
The Caesar salad was a bit too strong for us on the garlic, but it was fortunate we didn’t finish them, or we’d not have room for our entrees.
His Ribeye steak was succulently tender (considering his recent dental work, he needed a tender steak! ;) the asparagus perfectly done. He was disappointed in the mashed potatoes, as they were a bit dry for him.
I had the Kodiak Scallops with a berried cream sauce. This perfectly apportioned dish allowed every bite to be so delightfully balanced that each one would linger and tell its story: creamy champagne beurre blanc, blueberry, scallop, plum and rice.
We ended our meal with a shared crême brûlée (my fave), and a Happy Anniversary sparkler and photo. Just the right amount of fun :D and the photo was really good!
Best halibut in town, or anywhere. Salmon & scallops are great too.
Great food! Great wine selection. But it took 2 hours for our family of 4 to be served, wrong entree for one meal, loud bar area... thought we’d at least get a free dessert :(
