I have been here many times over the years and always very good. This was the first time however I was very disappointed in the quality of the food. No, I didn't send it back. I just don't like to complain or do that as that would be very uncomfortable.

The catch of the day was sea bass and it was tender and fresh. Excellent meal, and John, our server, was helpful and kind. We’ll be back.

Vallet parking is the best way - $8 vs $30 in neach parking lot across street. Arrived at start of lunch and got great table next to ocean, via reservation most likely. Place crowded up very fast from there, noise level way up. Food delivered timely, all very tasty and great presentation. Service suffered a slight bit once crowded, but with beach atmosphere, quite tolerable. As with all specialty restaurants, pricing was way over, really trying to capitalize on profits, bummer. Should take down prices minimum 25%. And stop asking with 25% tip on first show of bill! Overeaching for sure! Gave 20% as always do for the good service. All in all, a great place for the tourist/visitor crowd, but cost regulars too much for the experience.

The sea bass & lobster were perfectly prepared as usual. Our server Michael was happy to accommodate my special request on the prep on the sea bass. We always enjoy our visits to Jake's Del Mar!

My favorite restaurant in Del Mar. The view is fantastic and the food and service are always great. We started with calamari and the ribs as appetizers. Both excellent, calamari was tender and the orange sauce with it was tasty. Th ribs were tender. The meat fell off the bone. I had the sesame crusted salmon with a delicious sauce, definitely recommend. My husband does not eat fish so he had the burger and said it was very good. Our friends had the seared ahi also great. The only disappointment was the special, I am trying to remember what exactly it was, some white fish with sesame seeds. He did not enjoy it, it was dry and not tasty. For desert we shared the peanut butter cake, I did not care for the saltiness of it. My husband had strawberry sherbet (supposedly from Gelato 101) that was fantastic. Our cappuccino definitely needed improvement, they were watery. This is still one of my fave restaurants whether for lunch or dinner. Highly recommend! 💕💕💕ssami

Oh, that hula pie!!!! But, prior to that, we really enjoyed the Caribbean Halibut. It had the perfect seasoning and flavor and was healthfully prepared. The cocktails were yummy, too.
