   3rd time to Jake's and sitting out by the window is the best part of Jake's as well as the service. The food is good but very expensive for the amount you get. My husband's sea bass which was the fish of the evening was very small in comparison to Pacific Coast Grill, and other high end restaurants we've been to. Maybe it was that we were there later and it's all they had left. Not sure but they have him a bunch of polenta that it sat on and there was no veggie which was odd. My chicken was on the dry side but not too bad. The mashed potatoes were minimal but very good and there were 4 large asparagus spears which were good as well. I have 3 to my husband since he didn't have a vegetable. We celebrated our 40th anniversary and really loved the corner table by the window. They put an anniversary card on our table which was nice. Probably standard. They don't do any desserts for a special occasion though sounds like they have for others at times. Maybe it's up to the server or manager but they didn't do one. We decided to not order dessert but saw the Hula Pie delivered to tables and it's huge. Need that for a few people to share probably. My husband ordered a Drambuie for after dinner, which they don't carry. So we only ate dinner. We did not order appetizers. The only other note abs is not a complaint but a good many items in their menu have spice listed on them. We asked the waiter and he agreed that I'd you can't handle spice there's several things you should not order. That was unfortunate for us as it limited us greatly on the menu. We like Jake's, the view and the staff but likewise food can be food at other coastal eateries. Parking is valet and $10 after 4pm. Why is different after 4pm is odd and others are cheaper for valet. Just keep that in mind.

   Went for my Birthday Brunch and when I was seated at my ocean view table there was a Happy Birthday Card waiting for me at the table! What a nice touch. Food and service were top notch. I would highly recommend and will be returning.

   Had a blast with good food, service, and views. I would highly recommend. Valet did a great job too and gave us 30mins to enjoy the beach for No extra charge.

   4 of us dined. 2 had the surf and turf it was delicious and the steak was perfectly cooked to our requested temperature . 1 ordered the braised short rib, delicious and 1 ordered the seafood special, halibut. He said it was very good. For dessert we decided to share the Hula Pie. Our wonderful server, Lucy suggested we have it “Lucy’s way and add a serving of Bailey’s Irish crème poured on top. Oh my goodness that dessert took on a different life! It was so good! We really had a good experience there.

   From the time we arrived our experience was top shelf. Chase was an incredible server - we were seated promptly and had an incredible ocean view. We live in Seattle and anytime we visit San Diego, we make it a point to book a reservation at Jake’s Del Mar — we have come to rely on the quality and consistency of both the service, food and ambiance.

   I had the ahi tostada for lunch. delicious!! love sitting by window and watching the waves. our waitress was super attentive, refilling water and tea

   Great ambiance and good food. The menu is a bit pricy, but we would consider it again for a special occasion.

   I was hosting lunch with an out of town friend. We had great seats by the windows. Everything was great — food, service, ambiance. Excellent.

   We had lunch to celebrate my 80th birthday. We had a beautiful table at the window. We were going out to a big dinner that night so we just ordered the appetizer ribs, and the beet salad to share. It was just perfect and delicious. They brought me a piece of hula pie, which was huge and very much appreciated. Our waiter was wonderful, the food was delicious and we had a great day.  I highly recommend this restaurant.

    This was a birthday celebration. We came to Jake's because they do such a nice job for birthdays. There's a signed card at the table when you arrive and the dessert, Hula Pie or your choice is on the house. The Hula Pie is great and more than enough for 4. The service was exceptionally good. We drank a LOT of water and the glasses are smallish. Our server happily refilled water glasses many times, always with a smile. Food, as always was great!
