Waiter was attentive and friendly . Had to ask for bread and it was not warm and slightly stale. The calamari was great as well as salad . My rib eye was somewhat too fatty but lobster tail was cooked very good but did not have much flavor. Table was on the closed in patio with door open so could see ocean. Nice . Would go back but would speak up about my disappointment. Was with friends that we have not seen in long time so attention was focused there

We had a wonderful dinner at this beautiful yet laid-back restaurant overlooking the Pacific Ocean. From the moment we walked in, we were struck by the relaxed, coastal charm—and then we were lucky enough to be seated right by a window with an incredible view. Watching the sun set over the ocean truly made the night feel special. To start, we shared the calamari appetizer with an orange dipping sauce that was really good -crispy and just the right amount of tangy sweetness. For my entrée, I ordered the steak, which was cooked to perfection and so tender it could be cut with a butter knife. We ended the night with an ice cream dessert cake that didn’t last long at the table—everyone loved it. The service was just as impressive as the food. Our server was warm, attentive, and genuinely added to the experience. But above all, it was that ocean view that stole the show. You just can’t beat it. Highly recommend for a casual yet special evening out. We’ll definitely be back the next time we are in Del Mar.

Nice food and excellent service. We had reserved the table for our anniversary. The staff made note of it and also gave us a free dessert. Overall awesome experience with sunset in view while having dinner.

We always try to get to Jake’s when we visit Del Mar from the UK. As usual, the setting, food and service was exceptional. Expensive, but worth it.

When visiting Del Mar Jake’s is a must stop for fine local seafood ! This place sits directly on Del Mar beach, by far the best walking beach and costal views in the community. Try one of the sea food specials they offer and a classic tropical drink and just sit back and soak it all in. Enjoy

Local patron bringing out of town family to Jakes (party of 4.) Made a reservation - waited over 20 minutes to be seated...in a far corner table near the front of restaurant away from the main room. Saw our server a total of 3 times (1 - intros after 10 more minutes in our seats, 2 -order, 3 - check.) Had family in from out of town and wanted them to enjoy a sunset dinner in the main room...apparently a reservation doesn't get that. They were able to walk to the side of the restaurant during dinner to catch the sunset... it was a great one. As always, food and drinks were good. Atmosphere was good. But disappointed in the overall service with a reservation for dinner.

Great view of the sand and surf. Our waitress was super helpful and friendly. Helped us make choices to match our tastes. Use the valet parking if just going to the restaurant. Public parking across the street is rip a off.
