   We have eaten at Jakes since I don't remember when. Excellent food, service and ambiance. This time was for my mom's 100th birthday. Excellent as usual. We will continue to eat at Jakes. :)

   The view is unbeatable, we felt like we were aboard a beautiful cruise ship, sitting on the ocean waters! The food was delicious, however quite expensive for what we got but it was a special occasion, so a splurge was aok. Our server was delightful. This is our go to spot to celebrate special occasions.

   Great ocean views, lovely restaurant . Went for friends birthday and got great Hula Pie! We had fish chowder that was good , calamari were great. Eggs Benedict a little dry and Bellini not very cold. But overall good and great service and ambience

   Our server Dean was so attentive and personable. Helped make great decisions on drink and food menu with so much knowledge on every item. Food was outstanding and plated to perfection. Recommend to anyone looking for a casual/ upscale dining experience RIGHT on the ocean. Beautiful restaurant!

   A wonderful experience at Jake’s Del Mar!! You just cannot beat the atmosphere, food and service! There are not too many places where you can sit just feet from the sand with amazing food and dolphins swimming by in the breakwater! We could not have asked for a better dining experience!

    The location of the restaurant could not be better, right on the ocean. However the Mai Tais were disappointing. Too much ice and not enough dark rum. The menu was not exciting. The best part of the meal was the hula pie! Unfortunately at prime time 7:00pm it was very noisy. In addition our particular server just went thru the motions without any passion for the job.

    Quick sum up: We didn't feel taken care of, which, for what they charge at Jake's, is really a miss. I arrived on time for my reservation and was told to wait until the rest of my party arrived. No biggie. It was a birthday dinner and I had brought flowers and a small balloon for the table so I handed these to the hostesses, who said they would arrange them on the table for us. NICE! After the rest of my party arrived, we actually continued to wait for about 20 minutes, which was sort of weird, then we got to our table and...no flowers, no balloon. I was a little peeved because hormones but also because the promised arrangement didn't happen, and the lovely surprise I was counting on was flubbed. They brought the flowers after I ran back to the hostess station... Oh well. The ceviche was over 'cooked', meaning it had probably been made early in the day and the fish had toughened, also lacking a lot of flavor. The rest of the food was just okay. Waiter was inattentive and didn't explain anything on the menu as per usual at this restaurant. Bummer for birthday dinner.

    The Service was not what it has been in the past. I was disappointed that I had to pay for bread rolls with my dinner. This should be complimentary. Overall the food was good my Filet Mignon was dry but flavorful.

    Easy parking. Greeted right away. Only waited a few minutes. Clean table. Got menu and water almost immediately. I pressure from waitress. Very friendly. Not a long wait for meals to arrive. Hot and cooked to perfection. Not rushed at all. Enjoyed a great meal and great view with excellent service. Will be back

    What a nice lunch! We sat outside with a peek ocean view, so it was very quiet. Our server (I wish I got her name) was lovely and brought a piece of Hula pie for my friend, who was celebrating her birthday that day. The Caesar salad was one of the best I've had with a really zesty, fresh dressing. I haven't been here in about 20 years, but now I'll be back sooner! Really great experience!

    get a seat by the windows if you can for amazing ocean view, literally right outside. fun to watch the surfers and beautiful sunset. solid seafood options - delicious halibut and crab cake. our server, neil, was super friendly, knowledgeable and professional.

    We went to Jakes for my birthday and as usual we enjoyed our evening. Our server Jon was outstanding. He was very attentive and responsive especially seeing how busy he was. He didn’t rush us through the meal yet met our needs in a timely manner. We have been to Jakes many times but will request Jon’s table the next time we go….he was great. My husband had the achiote mahi-mahi for entree but the highlight was the shrimp prosciutto appetizer and I had the short ribs with ceviche as an appetizer. I have had the ribs before and they melted in your mouth but this time they were a little over cooked and dry but I would order them again knowing how good they usually are. I highly recommend everything we’ve ever eaten at Jakes! Kudos to Jon for making the evening extra special.

    Waiter was excellent. Food delicious. Had mahi-mahi husband had ahi. Rolls so good. Mai tai one of the best while not in Hawaii. And lastly but no leastly the hula pie was so ono delicious, we enjoyed our Mother’s Day at jakes!

    I waited for about 15min after my reservation time, then once seated I waited over 30min for the server to come get our order. The food took a while longer to arrive to our table. The food and ambiance were good but the service wasn't great. I make reservations so I won't have to wait long with my baby fussing as it is an inconvenience not only to us but other customers. They realized their mistake and gave us a discount (without us asking for it) for the inconvenience but I still wouldn't go back as it didn't work for us.
