Jake's Del Mar
I love Jake’s. The problem is I always order the Seafood Pot I always promise myself I’ll try something new but when it comes right down to it this dish is so heavenly nothing can surpass it. My friend had the shrimp ravioli and said “scrumptious “. Calamari appetizer “fabulous”. Sea salt
Caramel Creme Brûlée “incredible”. I always ask for a table by the water and at night it is mesmerizing. Service is consistently good. At least five stars all around.
Excellent as always. Try the seafood chowder. It's the best!
Best beach dining in North County
A beautiful ocean front restaurant with great food and attentive service. There is a parking lot across the street and of course valet service. Our server made a few helpful suggestions and even had the chef adapt a different fish so we would enjoy the menu preparation with the different fish. Quite special.
Only problem was... we could not valet park because cars were backed-up. Had to spend 2x as much for parking!
Menu options were good, but noticed portions are getting smaller!
Wait staff very good/noise level very high.
We have been coming to Jake's for many years. The Drinks are amazing, but the food...I wanted to go to McDonalds (exaggerated for effect) to get something to eat. My wife's birthday, SHE HAD TO ASK the waitress, if she could be found, if there was a birthday treat...The birthday card was on the table! She said: "Of Course". Very disappointed. I am sure you will get lots of business. Not mine.
Loved this restaurant. It was really hopping on a Friday night even though it is supposedly low season. We were very fortunate to have a great window table viewing the ocean. Food was really good. Loved all the dishes and especially the brussel sprout side. Fish was cooked perfectly for all. Our server was super friendly and attentive as was the rest of staff.
First time to the area we will be back
Over an hour to get food is too long for a table with children. I would not recommend for families.
We celebrated my wife's birthday at Jake's and everyone was extremely nice. The food and service were excellent.
Fantastic view for sunset.
Terrible service. Slow. Disrespectful. Waiter thought it was his stage. Food prepared improperly twice. I’d never go back. Way overrated
We made reservations to celebrate a birthday, asked for a view table. We were seated with a spectacular view - that was the best part of our meal experience. Moderately noisy atmosphere. Service was poor and slow, and the food was mediocre at best. Two of our food orders were incorrect. Because service was slow, we ended up taking the birthday dessert to go because we had to leave. This was my first time at Jake's, and it was also my last.
Great place; hostess needs to sit guests when the first people arrive. We had business lunch, guest was arriving 10 minutes after us, we wanted to sit at our reserved table, get a drink & talk/prep. Apparently there’s a policy against that
So I didn’t care for that and our CEO was not going to stand in the small crowded space by hostess stand to talk.
Rainy day but ocean view was mesmerizing. Could have stayed all afternoon, just sipping.
Great view, good food and wonderful waitstaff! what more could you want?
We first discovered Jakes after eating at Dukes in Kauai. This is restaurant is our favorite. The food is so delicious never dissapoints! Always well taken care of by the staff. Can watch the sunset from your table, and top it all off with Hula Pie!! This is a place you want to experience.
Delicious meal as always with great service and lovely setting. One of my favorite restaurants.
it was cold outside...i specified a booth because we go to jake's often....instead we were given a table below the bar and i and my guests were complaining of being cold throughout the meal. If we were upstairs or at a booth it would have been much better. Thus, the meal could not be enjoyed.
if we asked for a booth and could not get one, then why didn't the hostess's at least use good judgement and moved us away from the downstairs cold?
not happy at all with the experience...sorry
A really fun evening! We had a beautiful table with a view of the rolling surf. The staff was so friendly and we enjoyed the leisurely pace. We didn't feel rushed and enjoyed cocktails and then a great meal.
Food was excellent and our server was exceptional!
Super good restaurant with great ambiance, staff and food .
My chicken was dry and a bit over cooked but everything else was great - especially the service!
Celebrated a few birthdays with family on a Saturday afternoon. Sat right next to a window. Gorgeous view, great service, great food. Will definitely be back
I came for a late lunch, hoping I may score the waterfront table I requested. And I did. They staff was lovely. Sometimes servers aren’t thrilled to seat a single diner, especially at a well-placed table but I was treated with so much friendliness and respect. My server Joshua was so helpful with menu suggestions and encouraged me to take as much time as I needed as the lunch service was over and I pretty much stayed from 2-3:30. It was glorious. Ocean view, outstanding food from a few glasses of bubbly to a delicious roasted beet salad and a crab cake that was the best I’ve ever had. The key lime cheesecake and coffee arrived just long enough after the meal that I could enjoy them both. Jakes is my favorite San Diego area restaurant and the first place I think of when I travel from Boston to SoCal.
We always love Jake’s. The Seafood Pot is just a fabulous dish- an amazing combination of foods and flavors. For dessert I had the Creme Brûlée sea salt caramel. Just thinking about that meal tells me I will repeat it exactly the next time.
Great service and view of the beach and ocean. Wonderful touch with a birthday acknowledgement card from the staff and a complimentary birthday dessert. The grilled rainbow trout was presented nicely and had tasty additions, but was very bland tasting. It could use some herbs to sharpen the taste.
Everything was above average but we didn't get the window table we requested.
Great food and great service. We had brunch overlooking beach. Great view. Would recommend to all friends.
Been to Jake’s many times. Menu getting smaller and prices getting bigger.
I town for a lacrosse event.
We enjoyed everything! Our waiter was very personable, the food was delicious and ambiance was nice.
Great service and delicious food.
We got our table by the window! Thank you!
Our drinks were not great
I asked for an Apperol Spritz,
I was served Aperol with club soda and lots and lots of ice , no Prosecco!!! And no slice of orange!
The bar tender told me thats how they serve it there
He added a little bit of Prosecco after I asked him, not good
They use too much ice
Sorry to complain, but it is better that you know
Food was better than I remembered. Kitchen was accommodating. Server was outstanding and who doesn't love that view!
Our first visit to San Diego and we wanted to enjoy a dinner with a sunset view and was recommended to dine at Jakes! So knowing the time of the sunset we made reservations for 4:30 pm and got front row seating by the window overlooking the beach! What a sunset we experienced! Was not disappointed with the view or the service at Jakes. Everyone there treated you special and the food was delicious. Make sure you know the times for the sun setting and you will need to make reservations.
Very nice. Enjoyed the sun set and the beach views.
