I love the staff! They're all so nice and welcoming. Because of the Covid restrictions, we were seated outside on the corner. They brought out a table and chairs for us as soon as we arrived.
I don’t think we caught them on a good night. Our experience was pretty bad. They were out of a lot of things and rather than telling us what wasn’t available from the beginning, we had to find out when we ordered. Some of the staff were very kind and tried to apologize while others appeared frustrated by the smallest request. Very disappointing.
Overall good home cooked Italian food. The restaurant ambiance is a cold empty restaurant but we also went during COVID. Hopefully we’ll be back in the new year and have a different experience
Great food & great service- excited to go back!
Been going Jackson Fillmore for years; it’s a very special restaurant. The food is delicious and the staff is terrific. I’ve never had a bad meal. Hopefully they’ll be able to hang in there until indoor dining is allowed again.
Menu was authentic...Great grits!! Cornbread also terrific. Nice to enjoy cuisine of New Orleans here in S F..TKS a bunch...

Snapper Diavolo + Bombolotti + Zabagilione Freddo = Good time
I love this restaurant and want it to stay in business—the food is delicious and it's incredibly reasonably priced. The service was a bit rushed, however. I'm sure they were trying to turn the table, but we were basically in and out of there in an hour, which was a bummer as we were trying to enjoy our date night.
My boyfriend and I went for dinner and we CAN not wait to go back. Everything was so Yummy! The staff were so nice and very friendly.
Lively, neighborhood hangout with great Italian food. Sat at the bar and watched the show as the tiny kitchen delivered great meals. Loved the Spaghetti Carbonara. Fun by-the-glass wine selections.
My favorite place in San Francisco- incredible experience every time I come
We found out about Jackson Fillmore Trattoria by driving past one night. It's such a nondescript place that it's easily missed! After reading various reviews online we decided to give it a try last weekend. One thing to stress is to be sure and make reservations because even with a reservation there will be a wait. Our wait was only 15 minutes since the entire place was packed! But the wait will be endless if you don't make any reservations at all.
It's such a small place that every area is taken up with either tables for two or tables for 4 to 6. There is a bar and it was also full with diners who chose to eat there instead of wait I suppose.
As this is a popular place and all tables were filled be aware that you will be seated extremely close to other tables so conversations are overheard. And the noise level was extremely loud that it's not a place for a quiet meal.
The menu was only one page. We ordered their salad of baby greens with salami and freshly shaved cheese and fried calamari. The salad was excellent, but the calamari was a tiny portion.
Once seated the server will bring an amuse bouche of bruschetta with tomato and it was lovely.
We opted for a bottle of pinot grigio. The wine list is varied and actually inexpensive for SF. The server will also bring a jug of ice water which was really appreciated.
For mains we ordered the penne pescatore, zuppe de pesce, and the linguine with prawns. The portions are rather small for the prices charged in all honesty. The penne pescatore was great tasting as was the zuppe de pesce except the latter had no pasta or anything else to accompany the lovely seafood and sauce. However, the linguine with prawns was a rip off as it contained bay shrimp and not prawns. Also the sauce was still spicy even though we requested it to be 'mild'.
Desserts (affogatto and choc. cake with custard sauce) were lovely.
Good for a try yet it's too noisy and chaotic, the food just mediocre for the prices.
Food was fantastic and the staff were wonderful!!
A SF native recommended Jackson Fillmore and we’re so glad that she did! Though the restaurant doesn’t look like much from the outside, this is yet another example of not judging a book by its cover.
We were warmly greeted upon our arrival and shown to two seats at the bar. The entire wait staff was friendly and sitting at the bar, we got to talk to some other patrons which was fun.
The food is authentic Italian. Beef meatballs in a delicious marinara over polenta. A perfectly prepared red snapper in a spicy fra diavolo sauce. Tiramisu.
This place is the real deal and one we look forward to returning to on our next visit.
Nice neighborhood. Small place. Casual atmosphere. Edible food. Disappointed.
Fantastic neighborhood place. Great service. Consistent menu.
Just always the best
Best Italian menu in San Francisco. Most of the dishes are proprietary and one of a kind. The wine list is wonderful. It is not inexpensive and the ambiance is a bit bare, but the service is perfect and comfortable, and the dishes are extraordinary and for all that, the restaurant is a great value.
J having been in the same spot for at least 3 decades. The place is COMFORTABLE, easy and very friendly. However, the food is nothing special at all, zero atmosphere and over priced, too. The service (however) is excellent and brisk. The portions are generous. All in all a good standby when you’re in the mood. Just don’t go with any culinary expectations.
Best food for the best price.
Great food!
Lousy food. Crude cooking. Overcooked gummy pasta. Dried out chicken (overcooked) inedible spaghetti carbonara. Wines were rough in a part of the world where good cheap wine is easy to find & put on the menu. Another air ball. How this little place survives is a historic mystery.
Great food and hospitality as always! Been coming here for years with friends for different special events and JF never disappoints!
Best authentic Italian experience in SF.
Always a great place for dinner. Staff is so friendly and food is great!
Best Italian food in San Francisco. Small place but incredible food and delightful staff.
We came with our daughter, son-in-law and two year old grandson. Our son-in-law bought dinner - it was absolutely delicious and I hope not too expensive. But the most memorable thing about this restaurant was the friendliness of the entire staff. We were late arriving, but were immediately taken to a corner table, perfect for corralling our toddler. A lovely experience for all of us!
Great neighborhood restaurant for a special occasion or no occasion at all. All the staff are welcoming and remember us even if we only eat there infrequently - as we live out of town. The food is excellent! Great taste and good choice. Good wine list as well as dessert menu.
Never disappointing, great to see Jack back in the restaurant!
Great local restaurant. They were very friendly, giving off a very homey and welcoming environment. I’m vegan and they were very accommodating and open to making something off menu for me. Everyone at our table loved their meals. Highly recommend!
The linguine with prawns was very spicy. The waiter non comunicative.
Sorry guys, you have to improve
All great but would be nice to fix up the bathroom someday.
Love this place! Food is always excellent, and the staff is always welcoming. The best bruschetta EVER!
Perfecto! Everything and everyone was great...can’t wait to go again.
Very nice dinner with out of town visitors, it's great to be able to walk to a reliable, friendly restaurant of this caliber. All our dishes were good, including some off-menu favorites that the kitchen always seems happy to whip up. Wine list is reasonably priced and offers plenty of options. Very attentive service. Noise level can get up there, but that's hard to avoid in SF.
Love Jackson Fillmore. A must visit when I'm in San Francisco.
Always wonderful!!
This is a great neighborhood restaurant which has been in the same spot over 30 years with much of the same staff. Our waiter has been here for 22 years. Great food, interesting variety. Well worth coming and enjoying.
Thanks.
Jerry
The service was great. Very attentive and friendly. The food was very good but a bit expensive for the portion size.
Great neighborhood restaurant that has been around forever. Super friendly and welcoming.
We went to Jackson and Filmore for the first time in MArch 1989. #0 years since then they are still there. So we made an appointment. The restaurant is very popular and I am very happy to see it. For our taste, it was okay. I think our taste buds get very much more sophisticated since then. It was good to visit the area.
