Jack & Giulio's Italian Restaurant
Been going here for 50+ years, since they were in PB, have had over 100 meals there and NEVER a bad one. Simply fantastic in every way ! THANK YOU J&G!
It's unfortunate for people to claim it's "the best" in San Diego. If this is the best San Diego has to offer for Italian, I feel badly for San Diego. Nothing was homemade, including the pasta or sauce. The server was really nice, but everything else was subpar.
Best traditional Italian food in the whole city with amazing hospitality and a serene setting. This place would even kill in New York City
Great Italian food. The scampi Giulio was delicious!
Been going here for over 40 years and always fantastic! The Scampi is AWESOME! Never had anything but great service and even better food!
This restaurant was a great find, recommended by a friend who couldn't say enough good things. I had the scampi which was delicious. My husband had a veal dish , also very good. Our waiter, Jose, was very nice and a lot of fun. He had a great sense of humor. The menu had something for everyone but not so many choices that it made it difficult to choose.
Service was prompt and very attentive. The waiter catered to my wife’s special requests in the preparation of her meal. Food was very tasty not over spicy and served promptly. The warm fresh baked bread was very good too.
We love Jack and Giulio's and have brought friends and family here many times. The food is fabulous and the staff are wonderful. This is a long time favorite restaurant of ours.
great time and great food! waiters are always friendly and helpful. we have been here many times and it is my favorite restaurant in town. All the Shrimp dishes are the best. The pastas are great too. i have eaten most of the dishes and all are worth coming back for. We went for a late thanksgiving and the whole family loved the non- turkey.
Service was great - fast, attentive, and pleasant server. But both chicken Alfredo and the seafood special were simply not good. For $25 and $38 respectively per plate you can find much better food in old town.
Our table was ready and our greeting was warm. The waiter offered immediate service asking if we would like anything upon being seated. The weather was rainy so some of our party arrived a little late. This was no problem. The food was excellent and the atmosphere was home like. The waiter was attentive and Jack, the owner came by our table several times as well..
Overall a great experience.
Very good food. Charming ambiance.
The waiter we had gave very poor service he didn’t seem to understand or care what our needs were. I have severe food allergies as he spoke mostly Spanish to my Spanish speaking friend then I couldn’t understand his English he kept saying everything had pepper in it and that was not true as I finally spoke to the chef who assured me that I could order items that she could change for me. He was not accommodating & service was extremely poor. He Walked away several times ignoring us. Food was pricey for the mediocre quality. I would never go back there.
Overall it was good, needed more help very busy!
Best in town!
One of the best restaurants in San Diego. Amazing service and authentic Italian vibes/food. Great work!
Was on vacation and family wanted Italian for dinner. We were not disappointed.
Delicious Italian food! Fabulous service. The Scampi as previous reviews stated was unique and delicious!
We chose this restaurant for our anniversary dinner ... The good is always amazing and we love the atmosphere!
This place is awesome and the service impeccable! It was quiet and the spinach tortellini is crazy tasty!
Some of the best Italian food we have had in San Diego. The patio is beautiful and everything was absolutely amazing! Best eggplant parm I have had, and the shrimp bisque is to die for.
The atmosphere was quiet and lovely. The food was delicious and we would love to come back and try other entrees. There was no rushing us to leave which helped us to have a relaxing evening.
We were seated quickly on the patio. Server was professional and courteous. Food was outstanding.
I always order the scampi alla giulio. Have been going for years, never disappointed. They have a high standard for their staff and overall experience. I love this restaurant!
I had heard such good things about J&G's. However I and my family were disappointed. The food and the restaurant seemed tired. We were one party of few on a Wednesday night celebration. The impression I had was stepping into a time machine taking me back to the 1950's, much the same as "Old Trieste rhe last few years.
We had our first date at Giulio’s of Pacific Beach in 1987 and have been back to Jack & Giulio’s for many special occasions (or just because I had a craving!) since then.
The food is always delicious. Don’t miss the shrimp bisque and be sure to get every last drop with the perfectly crusty but soft on the inside bread. I also recommend the Chicken Marsala or Tortelloni Verde (porcini mushroom sauce is heavenly.)
During the summer you should definitely sit outside in the sweet little courtyard, with the cool breeze.
We look forward to many more meals at this lovely restaurant!
This is the best Italian restaurant in all of San Diego. We have been coming here for many years and will continue to come back and highly recommend it.
Great food and service. Staff was friendly and efficient. Food was delicious!
It was great.........the service, the food, the atmosphere.......we had a great time! Thanks so much for making our evening so great.
It was fine, but not outstanding. Based upon the Open Table ratings I guess I expected more. I had veal and eggplant parmigiana, which was again good but not distinctive.
We had a most enjoyable evening. We sat on the patio with Stephany. The service and the food was exceptional! Will definitely return soon.
Can't wait to return to this delightful restaurant. The food was unostentatious but beautifully prepared and presented, and delicious from first to last. Our cocktails were fine, and the wine we chose from the limited but generally interesting list was splendid. Service was impeccable, helping to make the experience happy and relaxed: we were never overwhelmed with solicitude and never hurried but our lovely waitress (whose name we unfortunately do not recall) was gracious, friendly and charming in all her interactions with us. Food arrived and departed smoothly, with breaks appropriate to our having requested a leisurely evening but without unduly long waits. We sat outside and were at no point seriously troubled by street noise. The patio was neatly appointed and our table both a comfortable size (not a given in outdoor seating) and at a reasonable distance from those on either side. I confess that, in spite of generally strong reviews, I could not have anticipated the experience's being as wonderfully memorable as it turned out to be. We would recommend this restaurant to any and all friends, and make a special visit to San Diego to eat there again.
We had high hopes for this restaurant based on past reviews, but it was average at best. Limited menu, wait staff seemed indifferent, and food was average. As an example, ordered the bruschetta, which came as diced, seasoned tomatoes on slices of bread appearing to be from a regular store bought loaf of white bread. Menu prices were a fair value.
We come to San Diego for vacation and would not miss Jack and Giulio's fir the Scampi!
Gabriel, our waiter, excellent! Personable and attentive!
Food was delicious as always.
This restaurant in Old Town serves the best Italian foods.Do not muss the deserts
Jack and Giulio's recalls an Old World European experience with its considerate service and gracious waitpersons, all of whom care very much about their restaurant Yet, it is in Old Town with its bustle and constant passing of tourists. The patio is spacious and lovely. It is so nice to dine with tablecloths and silver on the table. As it was very warm, about 80, a waiter thoughtfully provided glasses of ice water with lemon slices to all.It was a great evening!
Service was very polite and prompt, both our dinners were excellent. The bread was warm and crusty. Background music was soft and pleasant making for easy conversation. Overall a very enjoyable evening. Highly recommend for dinner dining.
Authentic Italian. Delicious. All 6 of our meals were terrific.
The best shrimp scampi
