We have had several special occasion dinners at Jack and Giulio’s over the years, Birthday dinners and rehearsal dinner parties. It was great to go back post Covid. We ate outside. A bit noisy but food and service were spectacular. Very happy to see they are surviving.
Gab was our waiter and it looked like he was over whelmed being the ONLY waiter working that night (Sept. 22nd) but Gab did his best a good waiter. A music group set up on the patio and it was WAY WAY WAY too loud. There was only about 14 people including my group of 7 - All the instruments used microphones including the singer which was not necessary for the size of the patio and people dining. We have been customers of J&G for many years and we always enjoy the quiet peaceful atmosphere. The music and singing was SO LOUD that we couldn't even have a conversation during our meal where we were celebrating a very special birthday. We have always LOVED your Shrimp Giulio but found the sauce to be very thin & deluded this time. The shrimp's were not thoroughly cooked and were not even warm when they were served. We will return but PLEASE no loud music - a single guitar player/singer would have been more appropriate. I suggest that you save the funds to pay the music group and bring in additional wait staff for better service and please make sure the shrimps are fully cooked and served at least warm. Thank you from a long time customer going back to your location in Pacific Beach. We would like to return and enjoy a nice quiet evening with your delicious Shrimp Giulio "The Best" and again Thank You
Love the food and the patio! Music made conversation tough. A little quieter would be better
The place always delivers! I had the Valdostana di Vitello, it was way too salty but still delicious.
Who would have thought you could find wonderful Italian food in Old Town San Diego? What a beautiful little restaurant, with impeccable service. It is an authentic Italian food with a lovely patio and great food. Get the shrimp bisque, the bruschetta was SO delicious! My husband asked if the would make him a special order of chicken parmigiana ( not on the menu, only veal) and the chef obliged him. BRAVO!
When we arrived on time for our reservation, our waiter just pointed to our table and said “your table is over there”. There was another table with plates on top and we asked him which table again and he came over and said “do you want to sit at the dirty table or the table that is clean”? Never been treated so rude at a restaurant. During our meal we had to wait several times for our water to be refilled. We noticed that he was VERY attentive to several other tables other than ours. We noted on open table that we were celebrating our 28th Anniversary. We are native Texans and are always cordial and friendly with everyone we meet, so this was very confusing to us. The food was very good, when we got our bill we still decided to give him a 16% tip added to Our bill. When the check cleared my credit card he obviously declined our tip!! Maybe he realized he provided poor service, I don’t know, but we will never go again. The service is better at Olive Garden and the food is actually pretty good there, here we come Olive Garden. For the manager (our bill came to $50.60, we ate on evening of 9-11).
We visited Jack & Giulio's on the Labor Day Weekend and were very pleased with the staff and the delicious food. They were short staffed, due to some employees not showing up to work, but there attention to service made up for any loss in quickness. What a wonderful place...we will definitely return again. A+++
Love the ambience inside old school Italian. Outside, watch Old Town tourists stroll by. The food is superb, excellent wine choices, full bar, excellent service. Very comfortable.
Food was excellent
Excellent as usual. Sergio was on top of everything and made the fantastic dinner even better.
Perfection! I have been coming to Jack and Giulio's for years and Giulio's in Pacific Beach before that.
Their Scampi Fra Diavolo is legendary!
And don't forget the appetizers!
I had the Hearts of Palm Salad and the Shrimp Bisque. Both were unbelievable!
The service was fantastic and the live music in the patio was total class. When the live music was finished, how can you go wrong with Sinatra?
My dining companions had the Veal Marsala and the Chicken Marsala and they both told me it was the very best they ever had!
I cannot recommend Jack and Giulio's high enough! If you have not had their Scampis,
The food here is fabulous, homemade pasta dishes unlike anywhere else. The patio is comfortable and beautiful, and the music was great! Such quality musicians.
This is a favorite with my friends and me.
The food here is incredible! Ive been here a few times and love it every time we go. Great service and really nice staff.
I enjoyed the food and ambience. There were not enough servers so my wait was long. Parking is a hassle.
Food and service always excellent.
Scampi a Julio, best you’ll ever have ! Perfect margarita. Really, the people make the difference. Thank you !
We had a wonderful evening and the food was great. It took, though, a VERY long time to get our food. Longer than we've ever experienced. Maybe it was just that night. We will be back.
Scampi alla Guilios is one of the best dishes I've ever had.
Great food, great service, great location, will definitely return.
We have a new and delicious restaurant to go to. We were so pleased with the food....delicious! There was live music on the patio which added to the ambiance. The only negative was we had to park a few blocks away. It is in Old Town which is a very high tourist area and it was busy. The walking will not deter us from going back for more good food.
First timers, this place was amazing! Our waiter was quick and never let our drinks get low. The food was a 11/10, we wished we lived closer because we would be here at least once a week!
The best Northern Italian food in San Diego since the 1960s. It was perfect, as usual. The service is gracious and the outdoor patio is inviting. I am gratified to see that the restaurant is still doing great. People were lining up at 5 pm on a Saturday evening. I'm glad we had reservations. Hope to return soon. Missed seeing my old schoolmate Jack this time.
It was our first time, and for our anniversary. We love it the food was great, service was A1.
Best Bruschetta I've ever had. and Sergio, our server, was wonderful.
In town visiting my son in the Navy. This was an excellent place to dine. We all had different shrimp entrees. All of them had more shrimp than any other place I’ve ever dined. If you love Italian Shrimp dishes like Scampi etc. this place is for you!
We’ve never had a bad meal at this restaurant. Delicious food and great service. A perfect evening.
We just love coming to Jack and Giulios. Great food. Great patio dining.
We love Jack and Giulios. Dinner was wonderful as it always is.
I've been a customer of J&G's since 1980.
These days with all the Italian restaurants in town, there is one
always return to and one I refer others to and that's Jack and Guilios. You will be pleasantly surprised and most certainly will return.
Had a lovely dinner with friends from out of town. The metal was excellent and we weren’t rushed.
Best Italian restaurant we’ve been to in years! Excellent service and a good value as well!
The scampi dishes are expert and the house made tortellini verde is surreal.
It's our favorite restaurant & we frequent often.
The entertainment was great out in the patio.
The food was good.
The service was poor because they did not have enough staff working. People were complaining about having to wait too long to get their check and then to get the payment receipt back after paying.
Been going to this restaurant for over 20 years. The food has always been top notch, the service snap on, and now that they are in Old Town, the ambiance is delightful. The only thing I have a problem with is the cost, don't get me wrong, I know the meats they use is excellent quality, but $19.00 for lasagna is excessive. $15.00 would be better.
Me personally, I don't mind paying top dollar for quality Veal.
If you want great Italian and you don't mind spending a few dollars, then Jack and Giulio's is your place.
Great outdoor venue with live music! Excellent service and food.
Tonight was exceptionally great, the food, the music and friendliness of other diners made for a wonderful evening.
Unfortunately I needed to rate gluten free and they had no options for me.
This place is a true hidden gem in old town. Good food, good prices, good people! There’s never a wait and the food is SO GOOD. My boyfriend is a big fan of the lasagna so we can’t stop coming back! Authentic Italian food and yummy cocktails means this place is the place to be.
Scrumptious food, delicious wine, friendly service, beautiful outside table. A perfect place to dine with friends or romantic dinner for two.
