The restaurant was nice,I felt the lamb chops could of been more tender,the beer and cocktails made up for an average meal my son liked the wings (we all did) the jerk chicken I had was dry.My other son had the catfish(which was good and one of my sons had the goat(which could of cooked longer) overall it’s ok.
Having reservations makes no difference we had to up against the wall and wait to be seated no one came to speak with us. Service sucked Waiter didn't really give us good service Totally over packed. Couldn't hear the waiter or anything total displeased and the appearance of the host omg aint no way
Food was and has always been very good to me. Portions seemed to have decreased in size relative to previous visits, nonetheless, our double date was good. Suggest the ladies at the check in area ask if the patron has a reservation before assuming otherwise.
Food was delicious as usual, our server Michael was awesome, it was very busy but he was more than attentive to our party of five.
Grilled chicken dinner was a little overpriced, but I guess it is Chicago.
Host, waiter and servers were all great.

The food was too spicy and was not flavorful. The shrimp was overcooked. The cabbage was good. The rum cake was heated. Why????

I had the jerk ribs. I often get this dish and sometimes they are burned and over done, sometimes not. This particular time they were burnt. Everything else was good.
The food was outstanding, but unfortunately overshadowed by poor service. This was a 2 1/2 hour dining experience. Our server, Nelle, was only seen twice throughout the night. Once to take our orders, and a second time to provide us with incorrect billing. Once the orders were taken, it took 1 hour for the food to come out. Granted, it was absolutely delicious and I was willing to overlook this. However, when it was time for the check, we told the server that we wanted two checks; one for each couple. When he returned with the check there were multiple errors. I took it upon myself to go to him and ask for a revised check since I knew he was busy and would likely not be back at our table for a while. With an attitude, he asked me to explain who's meals were who's and walked away mid explaination. "Okay! He must understand then" is what I thought....until 10 minutes later when he again asked who had what drinks. I really don't know how or why this guy is still employed here. He really made the while experience a bit crappy.
I'll still recommend although not the best visit to JaGrill I've had. Ive been many times before but, this time the food was just ok. The two girls I brought with me wasn't impressed.

Great place for lunch in Hyde Park. Wide selection of traditional Jamaican dishes with a fun vibe and laid back atmosphere.
This was my first time at Ja'Grill and I enjoyed my food which came out pretty quickly, but what I didn't like was how long it took the waitress to return to take our drink orders initially. Also the seating is so close that it is hard to move around or get to and from your seat.
It was too small for the crowd of people. The oxtail dinner was way overpriced. The noise level was high but i guess it was because it was small. It was an okay place
The food did not taste like authentic Jamaican cuisine and the waiter's manners/service was below average.
Really enjoyed myself here. The music, ambiance, and vibe was great! Would definitely go back here for sure! The punch and plantains were my favorite!

Other than the very bland Jerk Shrimp app and a little slow service (she def made up for it with her smile and energy) the meal, restaurant, and night were amazing!
Over all good experience, Service was a little slow, took a very long time before the waitress to come and take our order. The portion sizes were great, but the overall flavor was a little bland. Thought I didnt order a cocktail, the drink menu was great and reasonably priced. I'd come back for a drink at the bar, but not to dine.

While we frequent this establishment often, this past visit just did not meet our expectations. The lamb chops are usually my favorite, but this time they were rubbery. The lemon drops and rum punch drinks were great as well and our server was very pleasant. I think it was the fact that one guest (that happened to be part of a group at the pub style tables next to our table) decided to lay down on the floor and do some sort of roll, as if he was giving a play by play of a football play. That was not okay to me- maybe at a park or beach, but definitely not dining out. None of the staff seemed to mind, so maybe it was the owner or something.
Should state it’s a sports bar. Food was very tasty. I’ll go back but not on a football night
