Always delicious food and top rate service at J. Betski’s. We ordered the evening special and it was amazing (weinerschnitzl but extra fancy)! My very favorite thing there is the mushroom and cabbage pierogies, which was our appetizer. I’ve literally never had a bad meal here, it’s always fantastic! And their service is always great, top notch!
Great service and fabulous German (European) cuisine. Nice outdoor area and daily specials too.
JBetski's is a treasure. Great food, great staff. It's a true gem
We've dined here for years. The dishes are always delicious. Never had a single meal that was less than stellar. This restaurant is one of Raleigh's gems.
Food and service were excellent. We had the lamb pierogis on special and the braut with sauerkraut for starters. The pierogis were some of the best I’ve had, very flavorful. The portion was small as one might expect at an upscale restaurant, however, still a decent value. My wife doesn’t normally eat sauerkraut - she was eating this by the fork full.
We had the schnitzel and duck breast for entrees. It was my first time having schnitzel so I have nothing to compare it to, however, I enjoyed the dish, especially with the lemon and lingonberries. My wife said the duck dish was excellent as well.
For dessert we had the chocolate hazelnut torte. It was so good I’d stop back just to have it again. The salted caramel and bacon on top worked really well with the chocolate torte to really hit all of my sweet and savory buttons.
Service was excellent. Everyone helps out to clear plates and deliver entrees. Entrees were perfectly timed. Wine glasses were always full. Overall great experience.
Service was above and beyond. Food was excellent.
Always good, we sit at the bar. The bartender does a great job, and we enjoy occasional banter with the folks around us.
We have been eating at Betski's since they opened many years ago. We have never been disappointed; we have never had a bad experience. I recommend it to all.
J . Betski's was excellent. We enjoy authentic German food and this restaurant did not disappoint. My husband enjoyed 2 German beers that were excellent. I ordered an Orange Stinger whiskey craft cocktail that was inventive and quite tasty. We started with house made kielbasa with sauerkraut and mustard. Our other appetizer was a potato pancake with panko breading with a delicious sauce with fresh lettuces. The appetizers were beautifully plated and had balanced flavors. The mustard was spicy but did not overpower. We shared an entree which was Seared Beef Filet Medallions – with Potato Dumplings, Wilted Greens, Madeira Glazed Maitake and Cremini Muhrooms, Stroganoff Sauce. The steak was tender and juicy and cooked perfectly to a medium rare temperature. The mushroom sauce was rich and buttery with the tender dumplings. Each bite was a perfect crescendo of flavors. We did not order dessert, but next time we will. The desserts looked scrumptious! The atmosphere is cozy, relaxing, and has an upbeat vibe. Our waiter was attentive and helpful. Overall, a delightful evening.
I like German food and this was really good German food. We had great service and an enjoyable evening.
The cheeseburger and the pierogis were top notch
My favorite restaurant. Best food in Raleigh!
Another wonderful meal at J. Betski's. This time it was Saturday Lunch. I have dined here many times since it's conception years ago, and I can't think of any bad meal I've ever had here. Chef really cares about the food. Pairing the unique selection of beer and wine with the food is one of the highlights. Also one of the few authentic Eastern European restaurants in the Raleigh area that I know of. Lunch is just as good as dinner. Service is friendly and helpful. Definitely one of my favorite Raleigh restaurants!
Always amazing! Our group of 4 enjoyed a few appetizers and 4 very different entrees, all of which were wonderful. Our favorite go-to special event spot.
I I keep it simple here and get the pierogies and the kielbasa off the appetizer menu.
My wife is more adventurous and had a very nice smoked trout and kale salad and excellent lobster bisque soup, again off the appetizer menu.
They have rare German beer on the menu. Definitely try the smoke beer (Rauchbier).
The food is quite expensive for what you receive. One of our steaks was not even close to how we asked for it to be cooked. The rest of the food was very tasty but portions were quite small for the cost.
J Betski's is one of our all-time favorite restaurants in Raleigh!
Best restaurant in the triangle. John is the best!
Drove 25 minutes to try this Polish style restaurant, found the food to be pretty good but the atmosphere and dining room to be a bit dark, a bit stark, with all hardwood tables and chairs, and not much warmth or Eastern European atmosphere. The food items were good, fine, but maybe a good warm soup would be a good sensory / menu addition. Service was friendly and engaging. Side annoyance: tried to call at 11 am and 11:15 to ensure that we could get a table at 11:30 or 11:45, but phone as given on their website just rang and rang unanswered. I asked our server to double check the # as it appears on the website. Maybe the # is wrong or changed, or maybe they just do not answer until opening ? She never did, or never got back to me about it. All in all a nice lunch but nothing too unique.
Outstanding appetizers -pierogis were wonderful. Nice choices of main dishes with a variety of specials .
So many great choices to eat
Great atmosphere, friendly people and food was excellent. Loved the holiday decorations!
Awesome meal!!!! Great smoked trout salad that was a magnificent mix of flavors & textures. The Venison meatball were seasoned and prpared to perfection. The weiner Schnitzle was as great as ever. THe oxtail soup for appetizer was robust and bursting with flavor. The staff once again did a remarkable job of waiting on us . JOB well done!!!
Great food and great service
Always amazing at J. Betskis!
I've been to J. Betski's four times now, and have been consistently pleased. The Christmas decor this last time was chic and tasteful, the service fantastic as always, and the food outstanding. The great wine list is a bonus! I will definitely be returning soon.
Food was fabulous and the service stellar. Would definitely go again
The food here never disappoints and all the servers are knowledgeable and friendly each time we come. It’s become one of my wife’s and my favorite places in Raleigh. So much, even, we stopped in for lunch one day and came back for dinner that same night.
Was there for my wife’s Birthday.
Table for 2, table behind us was vacant for the entire stay.
Hostess basically pushed us out the door after dinner,
said people were waiting.
Great food, but terrible hostess.
Better service at IHOP, unfortunately not worth it.
The food was great, we all had a great meal there and would recommend it to anyone who wants to eat some Polish or Central European cuisine.
The only reason we made this reservation was based on their ONE chicken dish listed online and an enjoyment of German/Polish styled chicken.
Looking over their menu resulted in a completely different menu. The server stated before we asked about the inconsistency that it is too much work to update their website with their ever-changing dishes. Translated - - no chicken options.
What restaurant offers one chicken dish and when that patron states ‘we only eat chicken’ the server responds ‘then how about duck’?
This was a major disappointment-most chefs, proprietors or managers would offer options - ours was chicken liver, vegetarian stuffed pepper with mushrooms (allergic) that could not be excluded...or duck.
For future reference, despite being seated, ordered and consumed drinks...since they were unwilling to offer a chicken option, we departed early...they marked our reservation as cancelled with Open Table.
Their bartender has been there 13 years, confirmed that he could make mixed drinks but was incapable of making any of our requests.
Evidently this is an established restaurant with red-meat lovers and they are not interested in new patrons.
The kielbasa was excellent but the special entrees, the pork chop and beef/pork cabbage rolls - while good - we’re not. The service was also a bit slow. This was our second visit, we liked this restaurant better the first time.
Amazing. One of the best restaurants in Raleigh! You must go!
Still the best restaurant in Raleigh after 11 years of eating there. Every meal, every visit, is uniquely made with fresh ideas. Always astounds.
We were a group of 6 for lunch, and it was our first time there. Most of us got the sampler platter special, and we all loved it. We will likely be back for dinner.
Perhaps the best food in Raleigh hands down. Chef John creates a playground for your taste buds and he and the staff never disappoint. Great food, amazing service and detail to the requests of their patrons.
This is our one of our favorite restaurants!
There service and food is outstanding!
Always good to eat at Betski's.
Good food, good service, just overall delightful.
