J. Alexander's - Redlands Grill - Denver Ratings and Reviews
Always a great meal and an excellent restaurant. As this has been our first choice over the years you cannot beat their consistent food and wine. Only wish they could return to the service level we used to see. Still good but could be tightened up a bit.
This is an all around nice restaurant with quiet ambiance but not dead. I went on a Wednesday night and it wasn’t busy but I would imagine even when it’s a busy Friday night you can still hear your dining partner. There’s a nice variety on the menu including full-fledged entrees but you could easily eat light with apps, soup or salads. I was in the mood for a good juicy burger which they had a variety. They grind their chuck fresh daily.
J. Alexanders Redlands Grill isn't a 5 star, gourmet place but it does have a decent menu with very good food. The service is good, the atmosphere is good and the prices are good for what you get. It is the kind of place you can back to on a regular basis and not get tired of it.
Very disappointed in the prime rib that evening. It was tough and had lots of fat. After I noticed how red the prime rib was, I asked that my piece be cooked a little longer-server took it to the kitchen and brought it back several minutes later-still very red.
Overall quality was disappointing-I didn't even finish. This is the first "bad" experience I've had at J Alexander's-willing to give it another try.
Been going to J. Alexander’s / Redlands for over 20 years. Very disappointed yesterday . Ribs usually fall off the bone tender and meaty. Both my wife’s and my orders were tough and a bit lacking . The fries were over-salted to the point my wife could not eat them. At the end of our meal we had to ask for wet towels to wipe our hands. That never happens.
When we received our check we told our server about our disappointment of the food. She stated it was probably the shift in the kitchen which was the cause for the ribs being tougher than expected and that it sometimes can be hit or miss. She also said the cooks usually over-season the fries, however we can ask for them not to season the fries in the future.
Our meal was on a Sunday afternoon. Our experience makes us wonder if that time period gets the “B” team or if the change to Redlands means a change in overall quality. Our server was attentive and cordial, however, there is an overall change in both food and service.
This has always been one of our favorite places to have dinner, however, the last time we went things seemed to have slipped some and our server was less than adequate. That resulted in a bad review. However, because we have always like it, we decided to go once more this past Saturday evening, and it was great. The key element was the service, and our server was wonderful. Friendly and attentive without being over-bearing. Under his watchful care, we had a great dinner and thoroughly enjoyed the entire evening. The food was excellent as well, both the ribeye and the prime rib, as well as the spinach queso we had when we first sat down. We are glad we went back once more, and look forward to returning again soon.
Was told the ambiance was quiet, dark and private. Ended up being quite loud and hard to hear my significant other from across the booth table. It was a Friday night though. Other than the noise my expectations were exceeded. Food, staff, wait time, and decor were all wonderful.
Our usual experience at J. Alexander's is you can't beat the consistency for a good solid meal. Unfortunately this past experience did not entirely live up to our normal experience. The new sushi menu was presented. We tried it and found it not to be very good. The first one delivered was ice cold, clearly having been made in advance and refrigerated. A replacement was delivered and it did not have any flavor. I would not try sushi at J. Alexander's again.
