The fish was cooked perfectly and was delicious, as well as the vegetables and dessert. We love the ambiance on the deck with the view of Lake Union, the Seattle skyline, and the residential hills framing the Seattle skyscrapers.
Celebrated finishing a cycling trip on the San Juan Islands.
Very good food and awesome view of the city Skyline. A bit hard to find, but worth the trip.
Great service. Good food. Fantastic view. We sat outside on a lovely evening, but the interior is also lovely.
Food was outstanding and the setting and history of the space adds to the overall enjoyment of a great meal. Our server Michael was excellent and the food came quickly. We will be back.
Perfect location for watching the boats on Lake Union and enjoying the best seafood around. Great staff. Friendly and professional. Chowder is award winning. Thank you Ivar's!
This is a nice place to watch the boats and the sunset. At 7 pm on a Tuesday the restaurant was not very busy. We were able to get a window table.
We ordered appetizers and drinks, then a glass of wine to be served with the entrees. The server brought out the wine before the appetizers, but was fine taking it back. The appetizers and the entrees were well-prepared and hot. Our server was attentive and checked in with us frequently. This was an enjoyable evening.
Great family place; fresh fish, good portions, friendly staff, good beer on tap
Loved everything. Easy parking, quickly seated, friendly staff, and great food. We ate outside and with the freeway nearby it was noisy, but it was worth the view of the lake and downtown.
I want to like the Salmon House but the food the last two times I've been there have been way below standard. Not sure what is going on there but literally everyone's dish was underwhelming the last couple meals there. Please raise the bar on the food quality or a lot less people will be going.
The food was delicious! Our table thought the fresh salmon was soft and flavorful. Great place!
I hadn’t been to the Salmon House in a few years so when my brother came to town, I thought that he would enjoy it, which he did. He had never been here and though we are born and raised in Seattle, we could never afford the Salmon House when we were younger.
The service was very iffy…it took awhile to order our drinks, let alone receive them and way too long to take our food orders. They were also out of clams which is what both me and my brother wanted. After waiting quite awhile after we finished eating, we had to flag down our server in order to get our tab.
The food was good but a bit overpriced. I had the blackened salmon Caesar with a cup of chowder, my son ordered the fish and chips, and my brother had the salmon sampler and a cup of chowder.
Luckily it was a beautiful day on Lake Union and we sat outside…the ambiance is what cancelled out all of the service mishaps.
I’ve eaten here many times. This night, the salmon was flavorless. Not worth a $35 entree.
Great service and hardworking staff. Delicious food options so it was hard to pick! Great place for a waterside meal.
Outdoor space is very noisy due to freeway noise. Indoors is very quite and a nice place for a quiet lunch.
We had a reservation. Kitchen seemed to have issues that night. Lack of staffing and shortage of food? Our crab cakes were extremely late and overheard the menu item ran out but the dinner service was in full swing. Ran out of calamari as well. Old, browned lettuce for salad. Our halibut fish and chips were extremely disappointing with three very small pieces on each order and over abundance of fries. Silverware had food residue and had to get another set. We’ve always enjoyed the Ivar’s restaurants, however, will never come back to this location for sit down menu.
We did tip our waitress 25% because we understand it’s a very tough profession.
As always, location and atmosphere are excellent. Food is decent. We were impressed that they were able to open the full restaurant with ongoing industry staffing shortages.
Always a great place to take out of town guests - even with a limited menu the selection was great!
Food was fine but not good enough for the price, the restaurant was very crowded and loud.
We were loudly shamed for ordering from the happy hour menu after we were told it was available. Added 45 minutes of waiting for our food. After ordering from the regular menu, the Caesar salad came with browned edges on the lettuce and watery dressing. Not really safe nor pleasant to eat.
Great food and service. Value for the meal “volume” didn’t quite measure-up; the sandwich on the $20 lunch combo was weirdly small. Half the price for same food (or a larger sandwich?) on the other side of the building, it seems. But it was tasty and our server was lovely. Ivar’s is great.
Consistent cooking practices, delicious every time, great service. Chris, our awesome waiter, went the extra mile by bringing my husband a creme brulee with a lit candle. The restaurant joined in on singing happy bday. The steak, fish and chips, Halibut, salmon, potatoes and scallops are all incredible.
Our experience was marred by our server in training: wrong wines brought, taken back and corrected, but found too late we had been charged for wrong wines as well. Our meals were great and arrived in good time, so that part of our experience was positive. We waited and had to signal his trainer to collect our bill for payment and then he did not provide a pen for signing. We will return to the Salmon House, but hope for better service and will examine our bill carefully before we leave.
The restaurant itself if unique and quintessentially Seattle with all of the NW carvings and photos. We brought an out of town guest who loved it! Right on the water, views of Seattle and all the boat traffic of Lake Union. Food was fine - good selection of seafood. But come for the ambiance. Can't be beat!
Pretty chill but basic if you want dinner on lake union it's not the best option but will work in a pinch
Quality customer service, great food, great atomsphere. Whats not to like
We have been regular customers over the years. I don't like to read crabby reviews but this was a $369 terrible dinner.
The mashed potatoes probably sat in a warmer for a long time and were skinned over. None of our 4 entrees were tasty--overcooked or bland. Even the desserts were an unhappy experience. Particularly the crème brulee which was subpar and NO candle for the birthday.
One of the best places in Seattle for good food, great atmosphere, and to see the Seattle skyline from the north.
The restaurant was clean. The staff very friendly and efficient at helping us navigate the menu. The food was delicious.
Very busy for a Tuesday evening, but it was a great clear warm night.
20 minute wait for our 7:00 reservation (see above)
Staff was hopping and staying positive.
Food was about as expected, good, well presented, but nothing exciting.
No desert offering shown, separate request bread was dry and tired.
Excellent spacing of tables on the deck which provided safe distance along with the excellent service and food
My out of town guest who had never been to the PNW, loved it. First, he tested the chowder and said it was among the best he had ever had (from the east coast, so that was the comparison). He tried the sampler basket, had never had halibut, and enjoyed every bite. The key lime pie was delicious and hinted of fresh lime. A complete home run! I had the cedar planked salmon and my dessert was the rhubarb crisp, both excellent. The ambience, the multiple types and sizes of boats going by, were a bonus. A lovely evening with perfect weather to boot!
always delicious. One of our favorite places to take out of town visitors
The outdoor patio on the water is amazing. The food is good, but not great. Service people are nice and responsive.
Good food and great views!
We had the loveliest waiter and hostess. Beautiful view and just a very pleasant meal. We didn’t feel rushed at all.
Ambiance and food were outstanding. Kids drinks, berry fuzz, did not come with refills and the server kept asking our kids if theyw anted more in an assumptive manner...….so $25 later. Way over-priced and a bit disappointed when we got the bill.
Great waterfront view from the patio. Service was friendly. Ordered the Pacific Northwest combo (salmon and halibut) and both pieces of fish were over cooked. The sides and apps were very good. But seeing as it’s a “Salmon House” you’d expect the fish to be perfect. I’d try them again
The portions at this place are definitely a lot smaller than how it used to be. The $40 Appetizer tower was tiny! Way overpriced for 3 small plates. It was nothing! Also, the salmon in over cooked. Wasn't anything spectacular.
Staff tried to provide excellent service. It seems they were understaffed or the restaurant was “out of shape” after months of being closed. The food was overcooked and look like it’s been under heat lamps for a long time. Be prepared to wait even if you make a reservation and then about an hour for dinner to arrive.
