Very nice staff, good food & beer selection. Great location. We are outside and watched the busy bay.
This restaurant was a disappointment. The food was mediocre and the noise from the highway was ridiculously loud. The only redeeming feature was the great view of the water and the boats that we enjoyed while we ate. We will not be returning.
The Crab cakes were delicious. The wine was refreshing. Our waiter was attentive. A great experience!
Food mediocre. Outside very loud from nearby bridge traffic.
It’s a bit noisy with the high ceilings but we love this place and the view of boats on Lake Union and downtown can’t be beat! It’s a Seattle classic.
Met a friend for dinner - lovely view of Lake Union and the boats.
We had a reservation but wanted an outdoor table so waited about 20 minutes to be seated. Lucky for us King Salmon was the special of the day and it was cooked perfectly. Our waitress was spectacular and we got to sit outside and watch the busyness of Lake Union. One of my favorite spots. Not sure how you can top this restaurant for seafood in Seattle.
Great food! We were seated promptly with our reservation. The service was great! The food came surprisingly quickly especially considering the size of our party.
Great lunch meeting with my work team on the patio! Food and drinks were tasty and our server was great.
The last time I ate here it was delicious. This time the salmon was really dry and that was the reason we went back. I think it may be hit or miss. The scallops and halibut were delicious, moist and saucy. They were great about having gluten-free options and marking them on the menu. Our server was excellent, so was front of the house.
The waitress was outstanding! And, also the special birthday treat for my daughter.
The fish was bland. The crab legs could not be cracked with the cracker tool provided because the shell of the legs was soggy and the meat watery. Overall the food was not great. The service was not up to par as we had to flag server down for water refills and drinks.
The waterfront views are amazing with a view of downtown and the Space Needle. There were lots of boats to see as they passed by the waterfront seating.
Overall, disappointing due to food and service.
Great atmosphere and great food
3 stars because one dish, of four, was not as hot as your usual standard. We still enjoyed the experience.
I’m the past, it took a very long time to get our meal. It was much faster yesterday even though they were super busy.
Visiting Seattle for the weekend. Wanted a place that was in the throng of downtown but still gave the beautiful Seattle sunset view. Absolutely perfect.
food is very tasty specially Fresh Sautéed Manila Clams, we asked for more bread to dip into the sauce. Th view is gorgeous if you are in a small group and sit outside in the evening.
The sockeye salmon was dry. Our fantastic server Danny exchanged it, which was better but I still prefer my salmon to be more moist. My friend got the halibut which was delicious.
We love this restaurant and frequent it when we are in Seattle every couple years. Great food, great service and reasonable prices.
The fish was cooked perfectly and was delicious, as well as the vegetables and dessert. We love the ambiance on the deck with the view of Lake Union, the Seattle skyline, and the residential hills framing the Seattle skyscrapers.
Celebrated finishing a cycling trip on the San Juan Islands.
Very good food and awesome view of the city Skyline. A bit hard to find, but worth the trip.
Great service. Good food. Fantastic view. We sat outside on a lovely evening, but the interior is also lovely.
Food was outstanding and the setting and history of the space adds to the overall enjoyment of a great meal. Our server Michael was excellent and the food came quickly. We will be back.
Perfect location for watching the boats on Lake Union and enjoying the best seafood around. Great staff. Friendly and professional. Chowder is award winning. Thank you Ivar's!
This is a nice place to watch the boats and the sunset. At 7 pm on a Tuesday the restaurant was not very busy. We were able to get a window table.
We ordered appetizers and drinks, then a glass of wine to be served with the entrees. The server brought out the wine before the appetizers, but was fine taking it back. The appetizers and the entrees were well-prepared and hot. Our server was attentive and checked in with us frequently. This was an enjoyable evening.
Great family place; fresh fish, good portions, friendly staff, good beer on tap
Loved everything. Easy parking, quickly seated, friendly staff, and great food. We ate outside and with the freeway nearby it was noisy, but it was worth the view of the lake and downtown.
I want to like the Salmon House but the food the last two times I've been there have been way below standard. Not sure what is going on there but literally everyone's dish was underwhelming the last couple meals there. Please raise the bar on the food quality or a lot less people will be going.
The food was delicious! Our table thought the fresh salmon was soft and flavorful. Great place!
I hadn’t been to the Salmon House in a few years so when my brother came to town, I thought that he would enjoy it, which he did. He had never been here and though we are born and raised in Seattle, we could never afford the Salmon House when we were younger.
The service was very iffy…it took awhile to order our drinks, let alone receive them and way too long to take our food orders. They were also out of clams which is what both me and my brother wanted. After waiting quite awhile after we finished eating, we had to flag down our server in order to get our tab.
The food was good but a bit overpriced. I had the blackened salmon Caesar with a cup of chowder, my son ordered the fish and chips, and my brother had the salmon sampler and a cup of chowder.
Luckily it was a beautiful day on Lake Union and we sat outside…the ambiance is what cancelled out all of the service mishaps.
I’ve eaten here many times. This night, the salmon was flavorless. Not worth a $35 entree.
Great disappointment. We were visiting Seattle, where we were lucky to have lived for five years, and hoping for a great salmon meal. The place was packed. We arrived early for our reservation and waited in the bar. Luckily, we checked with the hostess at our reservation time, because she couldn’t be bother/wasn’t smart enough to call for us in the bar. Once seated, we waited more than 20 minutes for water and menus. It was even longer before our order was taken. The poor waitress was doing her best, but simply had too many tables. The menu had no specials, and no king salmon, which is what I was hoping for (it IS available at PIke’s Place Market). I ordered sockeye, which was a mistake. It was covered with a blueberry compote, odd combination, and dry. I can buy sockeye on the east coast and prepare it better myself. It was accompanied by broccolini, which was good but not extraordinary, and the best thing on the plate…a tasty corn pudding. My husband had a plate with a tiny piece of halibut, a small piece of salmon and three scallops. His food tasted good, but the portion was stingy. Bread was available on request, but you had had to know this, somehow. By the time our meal was served, we had waited 30 minutes in the bar, and 45 at the table. They are clearly seriously understaffed, yet filled all of their tables. We overheard a stressed server say only a fraction of the staff had returned to work. We regularly visit WA to visit family, but will patronize the Salmon House again.
Great service and hardworking staff. Delicious food options so it was hard to pick! Great place for a waterside meal.
Outdoor space is very noisy due to freeway noise. Indoors is very quite and a nice place for a quiet lunch.
We had a reservation. Kitchen seemed to have issues that night. Lack of staffing and shortage of food? Our crab cakes were extremely late and overheard the menu item ran out but the dinner service was in full swing. Ran out of calamari as well. Old, browned lettuce for salad. Our halibut fish and chips were extremely disappointing with three very small pieces on each order and over abundance of fries. Silverware had food residue and had to get another set. We’ve always enjoyed the Ivar’s restaurants, however, will never come back to this location for sit down menu.
We did tip our waitress 25% because we understand it’s a very tough profession.
