This place was amazing. We had a seat right by the water. The food was even better than the view. Great experience. Must go!
Service was very poor and the food was equivalent to a TV dinner for the price of a nice dinner at another Seattle restaurant which has some pride in their food. Mashed potatoes were bland, crab cakes may have been frozen, green beans were limp… portions were small and prices were high.
Our waiter was nice, but very forgetful and clearly did not know what he was doing. It took over 20 minutes for him to come back to take our food order after the initial greeting. Definitely had too many tables for his level of experience.
They do have a spectacular view, but my boyfriend and I spent the night flabbergasted at the experience we received for the price we paid. We won’t be going back- Seattle is full of phenomenal dinner services and this was not one.
We enjoyed celebrating our 41st Wedding Anniversary at Ivar's Salmon House. The restaurant is unique and beautiful with gorgeous views of Lake Union and downtown Seattle. And, the menu selections fit and reflect on the interior decorations and local ingredients.
My daughter fish fried is over cooked. In general it’s a great lunch
Flies everywhere throughout the meal. Terrible smell of food waste from the parking lot. Sautéed clam wasn’t properly prepped so there was too much sand and mud. Won’t come back for a very long time unless there’s significant change in operations.
We came in for dinner for my husbands birthday. We were excited about the view and menu originally. We were sat then it took the waitress nearly twenty minutes to greet us. I discussed our food allergies when she made it to the table and she said it would be easy to accommodate. I explained I had a dairy allergy and then ordered my food. Our waitress came back four times and explained I apparently was unable to get anything that came with the dish due to a dairy allergy. While this was going on our drink orders were also messed up, and our waitress additionally didn’t know anything about the liquors or drinks available so had to continuously be asked a question, go back to the bar, then return to answer the question which lead us to being at the restaurant for a long amount of time putting off our other plans for the evening. My partner received his food and it looked ok but not great. I got my plate, and it was the saddest chicken I’d ever seen. The menu said it came with roasted pear and prosciutto but it was seriously two slices of pear with the core still in it and the prosciutto as well as the chicken was dried up like it sat under the heating lamp for half a hour. The chicken was supposed to be sage as well but then literally had no flavor and was insanely dry. Had to send back my entree then couldn’t find anything else on the menu I could eat so I wound up being unable to even get an entree for myself. Instead I just had bread from our appetizer and a the gin drink I didn’t order. Overall great view but terrible experience especially since it was for my husbands birthday dinner. 🤦♀️
Usual nice ambiance, great view, pretty good service, average but pricy food.
The view of the waterfront was awesome. Service was great and entertaining. Clam chowder was good as usual.
We had a great time. We sat out on the balcony and we had a great view. Very relaxing and clean. Really nice staff.
Great for a large group - were able to get a table for 15 last minute and the hosts were super accommodating. The server was friendly and clearly answered our questions. He was very attentive - a huge plus given how big our party was.
The food was eh. Salmon was pretty over cooked and dry. Not worth the money.
View from the restaurant is beautiful and it has a nice, open air environment.
Wonderful view! Staff were incredible. Always a treat to go to Ivar’s Salmon (and parking is easy!!!)
Alder plank CoHo Salmon was the best I have ever had!
Five stars across the board...although the service was great, the dining room seemed a little short-staffed, which I know is a major problem for restaurants these days. I've been eating at the Salmon House since the late 60s when I was in High School and it has never failed to please me!
Had a table by the window and the view of Lake Union was stunning!
Service was impeccable (Thank You Marcus!). Food was excellent!
A family-favorite for decades! Food was delicious, served at the right temperature, waiting staff was friendly and professional.
Great service and great food! Always bring my family to Ivar’s when they visit!
Food was delicious, and service was friendly and fast.
Poor customer service. Good average at best. High prices.
Food is fine, the views are gorgeous. The restaurant feels extremely dated and worn inside and not extremely clean. The service was pretty lackluster too - our server never brought us a second spoon for our chowder and couldn’t remember which of us ordered which entree even though there were only two of us, and disappeared for a good 15 minutes after dropping the check when we were ready to leave. This iconic Seattle spot needs some investment and serious attention to make it shine again.
Great service, outdoor seating is awesome. Service team went out of their way to accommodate a party of 8.
Thank you for your service.
We three were disappointed with our experience. The view is spectacular. The restaurant is pleasant. The service was very slow...we were there two and a half hours and we did not have drinks and we are fast eaters. We understand that there is a severe shortage of wait staff so we expected some delays.
The knife and fork salad was good but quite small. Fries were mealy and room temperature. Salmon was very good but three fish "on a stick" were overcooked and room temperature. Halibut with "chips" had a tasteless coating. We got two glasses of iced tea also room temperature with slight bits of ice floating in the top. We had to ask for glasses of ice to make our own iced tea. It would seem that quality control is lacking.
Very good food and great views. Service was very friendly and the atmosphere inside was really nice. Loved the decor. Really enjoyed our meal here!
Our first time here! Waterside seat on the patio - excellent view! The food was delicious and our server was awesome!!
I loved just about everything to do with this place, my biggest issue with the visit came from other customers but that’s not the restaurant’s fault.
A nice place for lunch. Menu selection good, prices are reasonable. Great place to people watch, whether you’re inside or outside dining, especially on a nice, sunny day.
Service wise was good. However We are quite disappointed with the food. We ordered two clam appetizers and one came with clams that were still having plenty of sand and mini pebbles in there. My wife and 6 year old both bit into those clams and really hurt their teeth. Can something be done about this? It’s really quite frustrating
One of my favorite spot in Seattle. Sat indoor, next to the windows. Excellent view. Staff very friendly, and lunch combo was good value.
Dinner with family
I’ve eaten at Ivar’s —on and off— for over 60 years. Excellent service (this time from the bartender who helped me recharge my phone), fine food, wonderful ambience, great sunset views.
Outside dining was noisy, not because of people but from the road noise from the bridges nearby. Our server was remarkable as was the speed of delivery of our food.
Love Ivars Salmon House! We ate outside on the deck. Great attentive service! Wonderful food and drinks!! Only note is height of table umbrellas but really no biggie…plus maybe it’s because of risk of wind. Otherwise know the location is directly under I-5 so you get traffic noise.
Almost don't want to expand on the good times I always have here but they have been an institution in Seattle forever and deserve the praise. Great friendly service, excellent did and not a better spot for overall scenery and value. Thanks for always making it special
Not the usual stellar Ivar’s experience. Limited menu and less than top notch server. This was for a birthday. We’ve been coming here for 50 years. Disappointed but understand the difficult situation.
nice view outside but only if you're facing the right direction. felt like it was expensive for what the food was. best go at happy hour!
We had a pleasant meal at Ivar’s. The fish and chips were good as was the blackened salmon Cesar salad. A little cold with the doors to the deck open but otherwise everything was great.
For the high prices, we were pretty disappointed with the seafood. The salmon was overcooked and lacked flavor, despite being supposedly fresh. The fish and chips were mediocre. Food was served lukewarm and our drink order was incorrect. Nice view though outside.
Have eaten here before and it was pleasant. This time the food was just ok and the service was terrible. Appetizers and mains all came out at once allowing the main course to get cold while we ate the appetizers forgot my grandsons drink then brought the wrong one.
We were a group of 8 celebrating a friends birthday. Our server, Marcus, was exceptional and provided us with a wonderful dining experience. The food was also wonderful!
Food wasn’t good. Service was terrible!! Food wasn’t hot. Not even close.
They are short staffed so bring your patience. Food is ok. The view is fabulous. Parking can be an issue.
