Excellent food, though it took a bit of time between courses.
Everything was beyond amazing! Food was so delicious one of the best filet mignon steaks we’ve ever had! So tasty so tender it literally melts in your mouth! Mac and cheese wow! Iceberg salad omg!! Great!’ Drinks and even the water was great! Bread and butter wow! Wow!!! can’t say one bad thing! My husband and I loved it so much’ can’t wait to go back!! Customer service was excellent!
Expensive, good staff, food is great, but our steak was burned on the edges. Didn't tell us there would be a charge for a plate split. When they tell you the baked potatoes are huge, they are.
Expensive, but well worth the money! We came for a special occasion and could not have been happier! They were out of the whiskey we wanted, but happily upgraded us in place of it. Steak was incredible as well as the salmon. A+ would recommend!
We had a group of 11 for a business dinner and the service and view exceeded expectations. Highly recommend!
Bone-in Ribeye and Brussel Sprouts are to die for. View is pretty, service was very slow upfront but attentive once food was served.
I was AWESOME! our waiter was the absolute best!!
Amazing dining experience! Enrique provided first class service with friendly personality and great recommendations. The entire team at Island Prime delivered on all points. Very popular place for all occasions or just a great steak and lobster dinner. Incredible wine and beer list. Location is a secret gem near the airport, right on the water. Another Cohn culinary success!
The Food was amazing and great seating for the view
Excellent food and very good service. We were well taken care of
The view, the ambiance and the service were great. I ordered the filet trio and was a bit let down. If I had closed my eyes I would have thought I was eating ground beef. On top of that, I would consider the serving of crab that came with it as a miniature. I'll be back, but I will order something different next time.
A little loud because there was a party of 20+. The more they drank the louder it got. Suggest a muffled partition buffer for larger parties. Other than that, everything was very nice. Pricey. I had been to C-level - same kitchen? - and had a shrimp cocktail. At C-level I received 5 jumbo shrimp. At Island Prime, I received 3 shrimp, but cost more. Disappointing. But overall, loved the environment, and food.
Everything about the dinner was 5 stars. Very romantic evening. Thank you.
Great place to take the wife/girlfriend for a special occasion.
We enjoyed a great dinner and had a beautiful view of San Diego Bay.
We have dined at Island Prime many times over the years and our expectations are always exceeded. The food is always outstanding and the service is impeccable. We were celebrating our daughter's music concert from earlier that day and a cousin's new job. Our server provided us with an incredible complimentary dessert and prior to our main course, a delicious cheese appetizer! Island Prime continually provides memorable dining experiences like no other in San Diego! It is always our first choice for both special occasions or whenever we want a 5-Star dining experience!
Amazing experience!! My wife and I were visiting San Diego for the first time, we wanted a nice dinner on the water and Island Prime was perfect! The view of the city was beautiful, the drinks were perfect, and the food was amazing! I highly recommend this place if you’re in San Diego!
We were celebrating two birthdays. The food was all outstanding and the service was excellent. We went for the view and were pleasantly surprised by the awesome food.
Lovely setting on the San Diego waterfront, so you pay for the ambience—but don’t expect the food to match the prices. The markup on wine bottle pricing is crazy, even by typical restaurant standards, and the while the cocktails and first plates were very good, the steak quality and desserts were disappointing.
Wife and I split 12oz filet, huge baked potato and asparagus. Huge portions made for all we could eat and food was great.
My team and I were celebrating the beginning of a project we finally received the ‘GO’ for. We enjoyed ourselves!
Our server Courtney was great! Very thoughtful on the time she spent with us as we celebrated a night away from the kids. We were able to relax, enjoy our cocktails and our meals
The food was amazing the people that worked there were awesome and the view was GORGEOUS
Great food & service. Was taking a friend to dinner as thank you for watching over my house over the holiday seasons.
Best Restaurant on the Waterfront .. been going since it was Ruebens plankhouse...
Everyone made us feel very special by wishing us Happy Anniversary and treating us to a special dessert. Great food, service, views and ambience!!
We had not dined here in several years, but we will not let that happen again! We were so impressed! Of course, everyone knows the view is fantastic. Our server was great...not overly attentive, but was there when we needed him and handling the food, and our wine, was flawless. The food...outstanding! The flavor of my bone-in Rib-eye was great and it was perfectly cooked to medium rare. Definitely a great pick for a special night out.
was absolutely delicious. service was outstanding and the food was amazing. we went for my mother's birthday and everyone had such a nice time and LOVED their food.
The right spot for a birthday celebration. We were able to have a window table with a great view which added to the ambience, and made it feel special. Steaks (fliet mignon, T_Bone, Steak Trio, were delicious, prepared as requested, and well seasoned. Outstanding brioche type rolls that tasted almost like Yorkshire Pudding. Side of mushrooms generous and flavorful. We shared a BLT wedge salad which was tasty. Beef tartare was somewhat disappointing as it appeared to be seared, rather than raw. The Mud Pie was a very generous size and delicious. Side of butternut squash ordinary, portion was small. Wine by the glass, a Daou Cabernet was very nice. Our server was very professional and attentive, a manager came by our table to check on how we were doing.
A special restaurant sits on the San Diego Waterfront it's Island Prime. From the staff to the food to the view, you simply cannot go wrong here. Very special for anniversaries or birthdays. They make it so special.
The food tasted good, workers were friendly, and the view was amazing!
Our server was excellent in regards to recommending drink and food choice. Only issue was the menu out front of the restaurant was not current so we were disappointed that a couple of items (e.g. escargot) were not available on the menu.
Great experience! The view was lovely and the meal was outstanding. We celebrated our 18th Anniversary.
Hostess marched us past 5 or 10 empty tables with views to plunk us down in a viewless corner outside the kitchen door. To her credit, when I complained, she found a better table.
THE MENU HAS CHANGED FOR THE WORSE. THE PREVIOUS MENU SELECTIONS WERE 100 PER CENT BEFORE AND WE WILL NOT RETURN UNTIL A NEW MENU AND A RETURN TO THE OLD ONE. MANY OF OUR FRIENDS WARNED US ABOUT THIS CHANGE AND WE AGREE VERY POOR
Pricey for size of the portion but servers were very attentive and friendly.
Food was outstanding, staff was helpful and friendly. James was our waiter and went out of his way to make our evening special. Highly recommend this restaurant, and it has the best view in the city
New Year’s Eve
Amazing food and service with a view to boot! I would recommend the porterhouse to split for two people with the double baked lobster potato. It’s so huge-4 people could eat out of it. Also for an appetizer, the iceberg lettuce with blue cheese salad was very tasty. The bread (pop over) they serve is also huge and so yummy and warm from the oven. This is a don’t miss treat when in San Diego as they view was incredible. Be sure to ask for a table near the windows when making your reservation or you will be waiting!
Food was outstanding! The Calamari was truly some of the best any of us had had before. Very different presentation. Entrees are large and beef was cooked to order. Definitely a place for steak lovers! Desserts were delicious too. Make sure you are sharing! Waiter was very nice and just attentive enough not to be a nuisance. Noise level was high. I would love to go back and sit outside, for there is a lovely view of San Diego. Only thing that we felt was not that great were the mash potatoes. When you make yours with buttermilk and sour cream these unfortunately didn't match up.
