Ironside Fish & Oyster
We are now offering Happy Hour MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY FROM 3:00PM - 5:00PM.
Little Italy was built by the fishing industry. Ironside attempts to continue that narrative. It's our contemporary interpretation of the classic fish house and oyster bar. Located in a historic auction house on India St we did a full comprehensive restoration of the building, with three open-air culinary hubs featuring an expansive raw bar, chefs table, and bakery. We tried to be mindful of the past while looking towards the future.
This place is a gem. Was highly recommended to us and did not disappoint. I was a little taken back by the small menu. I’m used to more choices but everything we had was outstanding! Started with the oysters Rockefeller, amazing! I had the mussels and my husband had the wahoo. That with the bread was a perfect dinner! The bar is super cool too! The only bummer was we had to eat outside. I would have much rather dined inside but they had heaters so it was fine.
Ah absolutely perfect dinner! Everything is outstanding, and the service is top notch.
Good food, great service, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Always smiling and always checking in. Enjoyed it
Best restaurant experience in San Diego. The food and services were amazing. Was in town to celebrate my husband's birthday and they provided such a nice and warm dinner, with great suggestions for eat and drink. Our server was the best! Definitely recommend for couples and friends to have a nice dinner experience. Compared to other places we have been, the price is great to. A must go: Try the lobster roll and the octopus dish!
Ironside never disappoints and I love coming here for any special occasion. The service was excellent and the food was phenomenal. We sat outside and the heaters were great. Overall fantastic experience.
Fun anniversary dinner.
My husband and I had a wonderful experience for our anniversary. The whole staff was attentive and polite and the food of course was amazing! Cocktails too! Can’t wait to go back!
Amazing food and service
The ultimate special occasion meal!
Beautiful restaurant with high energy level. Decor was unique and well thought out. Our table happened to be poorly situated next to the waiter stand, which was a sore distraction from the otherwise fabulous ambiance.
Everything was great, food is amazing, service on point, just a perfect place for everyday dining and a special occasion
So good! Food and drinks were amazing and the restaurant is so nice on the inside. It was my friends birthday and they even gave us special menus that said "happy birthday" on them!
Strong/delish cocktails + great choice of oysters.
Nice menu. Good service. Food is a little pricey. Noisy. Overall a nice place to go for dinner.
Great experience! Had a teeny tiny problem and decided to speak up about it, sans the attitude ofc, but the gal who took care of us - did it with such grace and kindness and got it taken care of asap, and it just added to our little date nite. Thank you mystery girl!! You were amazing as was our server and food and drinks! Love this place!
Can't wait to come back.
Fabulous, fresh seafood and oysters. Great service and ambience.
Wonderful oysters, all the food delicious. Super charming ambiance, friendly staff, great cocktails.
We really enjoyed the food and drinks. Kids friendly. Cocktails are amazing as well.
Great service and great food! Great beer and wine selection too!
One of the finest Seafood restaurants in San Diego.
Ironside is definitely one of my husband and my "go to's." We really just enjoy the food, the relaxed atmosphere, and the positive vibes.
Delicious happy hour, great service and such a cool vibe. Definitely recommend the chowder fries and table side banana pudding!
Amazing food, wonderful workers, and fun ambiance! Absolutely amazing and I highly recommend this place and will definitely be coming back again.
waitress and service was very good , food was excellent appetizers and main course , light crowd for a Saturday night so bonus , dessert was to much but very good
Cocktails were creative and scrumptious. Lobster roll delicious and dozen Oysters were fresh albeit a bit small. Enjoyed our dinner before attending a great show, Led Zeppelin tribute band, Get the Led Out at the Balboa Theater, great show.
Fabulous place to have lunch. The food is always great.
Hoppin place. Service was slow but that could just be the sign of the times. I didn’t like that I got my entree while my daughter got her salad. I finished my entree before she got hers. The noise level is very high. You have to shout to hear each other. However, the vibe and energy is great.
We sat on the street and that was nice once the heater was turned on. Lots of people walking by which you need to realize is going to happen. The waitress was doing the best she could but things came out of the kitchen unevenly. The salad with avocado, hazelnuts and tangerines was really good as was the octopus. However, my husband ordered the swordfish just grilled. He got a piece of swordfish slightly larger than a deck of cards with nothing else for $38. The house bread is slightly sweet but pretty good. Very expensive for what you get.
We've lived her now for almost 10 years and had not found a really good seafood place until now. Hands down the best lobster I've ever had and we just came from a trip this past Summer to Boston, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, and the NYC, and practically had lobster almost every day. : ) My wife and I celebrated our wedding anniversary here and they had nice/personal touches to make us feel special. It's in the heart of Little Italy, took a romantic stroll around the neighborhood, and lots of pictures. We'll definitely be back!
Great vibe. Great food. Table side Banana Pudding is a MUST!
A fun place for a birthday celebration! We went for happy hour and sat on the patio. It was fun watching all the locals and tourists wandering past. Our waitress was super fun, and the lobster roll was to die for! I don’t know about you but I don’t like Mayo on mine and they will do it for you with just butter if you ask-heavenly 😋
Excellent as always
This place has some amazing seafood dishes and a great list of cocktails. While we had a few critiques, the combination of ambience, reasonable prices, awesome oysters and lobster, and flavorful drinks still earned this restaurant five stars. Yes, expect to spend a decent amount but when compared to other seafood restaurants, the menu is pretty reasonably priced. Service and ambiance were great.
We started with half dozen oysters, which were super fresh and tasted great solo or with the provided toppings - a champagne sauce, horseradish, and lemon wedges.
For drinks, we ordered the Mai Tai and another cocktail called Pimm’s Royale. The flavors were excellent and the bunches of fresh mint made the drinks really refreshing. However, the drinks could have been a tad stiffer and the glasses served with less ice. Since the prices were okay ($12 or so per drink) and at least tasty, that didn't bother us too much.
We also ordered the crab cake, lobster roll, and roasted carrots. The lobster roll was amazing. The lobster was so succulent and buttery and stuffed into a roll similar to Texas toast - the bread had the perfect crust and soft in the middle. The amount of lobster was generous even when split between two people. The dish also came with a side of fries.
While the crab cake was good, the dish felt like it was missing something overall. It came with one okay-sized crab cake, slices of horseradish pickles, and some tartar sauce. The horseradish pickles were the most unique item on this dish and had a great tang and spicy kick. While I enjoyed the flavors, I'll probably try something else next time. This dish would not be filling for one person so probably need to order something else with it to make it a full meal.
The roasted carrots paired well with our entrees. It's served on a bed of slightly sweet orange yogurt with fried garbanzo beans and other herbs on top. Overall, great food and drinks and will come back to sample the rest of the menu.
Great! We brought our 6 year old daughter and the staff was magnificent to her
Best ambience, food was impeccable, and customer service was perfection. Can’t wait to go back when we’re back in San Diego.
Great food. Great drink. Great ambiance. The lobster roll, burrata salad and seafood is to die for.
