We waited 25 minutes just for our check and never were asked if we needed refills.
We visited this restaurant on 08/27/20...my food was cold and my daughter found two pieces of hair in hers. Wait time was not what was said (35 - 45min) we waited almost 2hrs before we got seated and 15min. Before we recieved service. All in all....the view is beautiful!
The Roostarts are definitely not as good as they were when Iron Rooster first opened - there is far more pastry & far less filling than before - not sure I would order them again - so sad! Otherwise we had a great meal - very quiet “breakfast for dinner” meal with my daughter & 2 grandchildren. Waiter was very good - brought the kids meals out 1st - much appreciated! My fried chicken (sandwich) was awesome! My granddaughter tried a bite & loved it too. Fun & relaxing meal - ate inside - dining area quite empty - good safety protocols by all staff.
The RoosTarts are to DIE for. The tastiest thing I’ve ever eaten.
Pam was a fabulous waitress. She made the night special with her suggestions and great service.
Fun atmosphere with good food. But, coffee was never refilled (even after multiple requests) and food took a long time to arrive.
Incredible food, outstanding service, excellent value. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
Will be back there for sure
Great dining experience. Our server, Mackenzie, was outstanding. She was very attentive and provided great recommendations. The 'RooTarts' were better than I remembered, and the meals (3 X shrimp and grits and a dinner salad) were excellent. Could not have had a better dining experience. Enthusiastically recommended!
Food was way too salty! Crab hash and crab cakes had too much salt
Iron Rooster is a small restaurant located along a cute little shopping strip in downtown Annapolis. The food was great and fairly priced. The service was speedy and my party was sat before our reservation time! Definitely will return. Only flaw is that it is small and crowded. But overall great experience.
Glenn is amazing!!!! Someone give this man a raise
Chose Iron Rooster for a birthday dinner. I read the reviews and seemed like a great place to enjoy a wonderful dinner however, I believe their strong suit must be breakfast/brunch/lunch because the dinner offerings though tasty, did not set our world on fire:
Chicken Pot Pie - Huge pot pie with biscuit crust is really good and it's a huge portion of the same flavors. Should probably have ordered a side of some kind to lessen the feeling that you are taking the same bite over and over. Again, huge and leftovers were taken home and eaten for lunch the next day.
Burnt End Quesadilla - Well, not a burnt end to be found and mostly regular pork. Burnt ends are just that, charred on the ends with a slight crust. Overall, the flavors were good with a very fresh and light salsa mix. Needed more of the "drizzle" on top and perhaps some more cheese. The description includes two types of cheese but I really didn't find much. Came with a very fresh side salad and I chose balsamic drizzle which added to the flavors. Again, leftovers taken home and still in fridge.
House Made Roostart - Pure decadence. They are freshly made so ask for flavors of the day. Will take time to prepare. We chose mixed berries. I brought birthday candles and our amazing waiter (Arthur?) made sure candles were placed and lit. He sang Happy Birthday with me and soon all diners upstairs joined in. Very sweet.
Service - Outstanding from the minute we walked in the door. I gave the Manager the birthday candles and he said he would make sure they were placed in the dessert. Again, our waiter (Arthur) was outstanding as well as the food runners who would assist along the way if we needed anything.
Ambiance - Nothing fancy but it works. A steep flight of stairs to the upper dining area so keep in mind if seniors are in your group. Very casual with people in jeans, sweatshirts and even noticed sweatpants.
Will we return? Yes, but probably for a casual breakfast, brunch or lunch.
Everyone was so nice and the food was amazing!
A little too much sage in the biscuits and gravy for my liking.
Food is amazing! For some reason the host/manager put my party (first night out w/o kids for a while) in the kids room. As we passed empty tables to the loudest room in the building I knew this wasn't going to end well. We did have a good time, but we had to yell at each other for conversation. Thanks Iron Rooster for awesome food and terrible table placement.
Iron Rooster is one of my new favorite restaurants. I've only been twice. But both times the food and service were excellent. I will be back!
I can't wait to go back! I took my mom for her birthday and she smiled the entire time. I was late for my reservation because mom wanted to walk the neighborhood and who am I to deny her that. Once we arrived I apologized but they assured me it was not a problem, they were actually pretty available that night. I apologize because I cannot remember my server's name but he was super friendly.... I almost asked him to join us for dinner. The food was delicious with larger than normal portion sizes and we never had to ask for anything to be replenished. It was as if they read our minds. If you are wondering if you should go.... GO!!!! I will see you there.
The food was outstanding. We ordered the Parmesan panini and the Run Rooster Run. So delicious. We were a little disappointed in the slow service. Our waiter was very good but perhaps had too many tables. We were pressed for time so we got our desserts to go. Will try the homemade pop tarts next time.
Tables are pretty close together. Server was greet and you could see the other servers helping each other out. The upstairs seems a lot nicer than the downstairs. Food was outstanding! We had a California omelet and a waffle burger.
A rather ho-hum experience. This is primarily a breakfast & sandwich place. Hostesses were phenomenal: friendly, happy & sincere greeting. Abysmal service: water wasn't even refilled & when I gave it to the server expecting it to be refilled, she took it, walked away & never came back.
Our food was very disappointing. Waffle burger was extremely overcooked and extra egg that was ordered - and paid for - was not included. Chicken & Pancakes did not include the chocolate chips that were ordered. And the salmon avocado toast did not actually have any avocado on it. Pretty sad.
5 dinners and only 2 were correct.
Also, we had a reservation but we were still seated in the back corner on the first floor. No ambiance at all and we were right next to the wait staff station, which was noisy and busy. Why bother with a reservation if you are still going to get a terrible table?!?
Excellent brunch, very friendly staff
Great restaurant. Engaging service and good food. Just what we expected and more.
This was my first experience at Iron Rooster and I enjoyed it. My waitress Meghan was very good. The food wasn’t spectacular but it wasn’t bad either. I would eat there again.
Efficient and pleasant service, providing interesting and quality food.
It was great. The manager came to discuss our child’s allergies and prepared a meal she could eat. Couldn’t have been more pleased with our experience.
Great food, good service
Didn’t enjoy our experience this time. It’s a good spot to bring kids since they have all day breakfast, but I was underwhelmed on our 2nd visit.
My shrimp/grits was just ok. Flavor was fine, but there were hard lumps in the grits. I was halfway through my meal before my glass of wine was delivered- despite asking after it a couple times. My husbands drink came with ice cubes mostly melted which led us to believe the drinks sat on the bar a while before being delivered. The tables around us remained uncleared/dirty for quite some time before they were cleared and when they were, the buswoman was practically throwing the dishes in the bin and consequently was very loud and disruptive.
All in all, there are other places to eat in Annapolis and we will be trying other restaurants in the future.
Excellent service and food. Ambience was lovely. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!
This was my second trip to The Iron Rooster and it was equally amazing!!!! I have enjoyed breakfast and dinner and hope to return for more:). I live 2 hours away and would love to make a day trip to return.
Visiting from Chicago, we were looking for some delicious food upon arrival. The first day, we made the mistake of not just “waiting” for a table at the Iron Rooster, and so we darted over to the restaurant across the way in the red building with outdoor seating. BIG MISTAKE!! Don’t repeat it. You’ll be as disappointed as we were. I made a reservation for the following evening at Iron Rooster and so glad I did. Everything on the menu was delicious. The queso dip was phenomenal. My boyfriend got the ravioli, yummO. I had the cakes on cakes and (although I believe that particular dish was overpriced for what it is), the flavor was incredible. I’d probably do the crab cake Benny (next time) if I were looking for a similar and more reasonably priced dish. OR my suggestion would be to the restaurant: perhaps serve with a poached egg or 2? And definitely beef up that little corn cake (to make the price worth it?!?) But definitely visit and eat here at least ONCE during your visit to Annapolis.
Intriguing menu, delicious food, relaxed atmosphere. It was a little loud for a business lunch but we also had a child sitting nearby. Highly recommended for unique downtown Annapolis meals.
Good service. Food came quickly. Chicken Benny and the BLT&E (no egg) well large and filling. I will definetly be back soon.
Dinner with friends!
Food and service were both AMAZING. Host was extremely friendly and showed me a few seating options. Server made a great drink recommendation (iron crush) which was delicious. Crab hash was awesome and the homemade peanut butter cup was very rich but tasty. Little pricy but great food and drinks.
Great food!! Great location!! Recommend!! One of our favorite spots when in Naptown!
Very nice but not the right place for a firs date. A little to noisy, but a nice place and the service is excellent.
Based on the reviews, drove over from Virginia this past Saturday. Food was tasty, but mine was lukewarm at best. Waited for a long time for cocktail; apparently bartender was new. Server was very pleasant. Not sure I'd go there again even if I happen to be in Annapolis for the day. Just so so.
We were seated quite quickly due to our reservation on open table. We sat in the bar area. The house manager brought us a craft of water and informed us our server would be right with us. Our server was a little awkward, not very smiley or welcoming. However she did service quickly and efficiently. We got this steak breakfast bowl and chicken and waffles. Man oh man was it delicious
