Diverse menu comfort food we went on the busiest day of the year the service from the mailre de was fast we got great service
My daughter and her friend brought my husband and me to Iron Rooster for Mother's Day. They love the food. We came in a half hour early and had to wait less than 10 minutes. Appreciate that! Food was excellent: chicken pot pie, dirty rice with chicken, burger on waffles, and biscuits and gravy. Mimosa was great as well as the Arnold Palmer iced tea with lemonade, Jailbreak Infinitive Red Ale and 'Cast the Monkey' whit beer. Waitress was very attentive and pleasant. Would have preferred sitting upstairs....more modern with the bathrooms on that level. Was given a coupon for $10 off at next visit for Mother's Day. Nice treat. Thank you, Iron Rooster. We'll be back!
Honestly I was disappointed. I was really looking forward to going here based on reviews from my friends. The execution on the meal was not up to standard and the wait staff was not friendly. The deviled eggs were salty and the cakes on cakes was average in flavor. I was expecting more from my experience and will not be returning.
Great location in downtown Annapolis. We had a great view of the streets, Ego Alley, and the marina. The drinks were fabulous and even the kids enjoyed the food. We'll be back.
Overall the food and serve was great. We love coming here and haven't add an item we didn't like.
Wonderful as always
Food and service were amazing as always! Food came super fast and was BEYOND delicious. Extra bonus arriving in time to catch the end of happy hour and scoring some terrific, cheap cocktails!
Small office staff attending lunch to celebrate administrative professionals day. Nice walk from parking garage. Beautiful area. Menu selection is incredible. Home made Roos-tarts (poptarts) were AMAZING! Second story seating. Friendly Manager. It was my first time and i was WOWed :) Thanks!
It was our one year. I liked it, girlfriend did not think it was fancy enough. :)
Great Eggs Benedict. Friendly staff. Good menu. Will definitely return . Be prepared to pay for parking!
Food was good and you get big portions. Place had a good vibe to it. A country look inside.
The mixed berry pop-tart is on point! An absolute must try.

Four of us had dinner at the Iron Rooster in Annapolis. We had all eaten there before and thought the food was very good. However, this meal was tragic. Two of us had the shrimp and grits. The grits were lumpy and tasteless, and the shrimp were overcooked. One had the chicken pot pie which was a thick, tough "biscuit" over some goop that resembled wall paper paste, with very little vegetables or meat. The last person had the meatloaf. It appeared as if the meatloaf had been fried to heat it up. A lot of it was uneaten. The salads were served with the entrees, but only after we reminded the waiter that they had been ordered. Next time we'll go to Miss Shirley's.
Went for dinner with wife & friend. Eat early on a Tuesday, about 6:30. No one was there except a few in the bar.
Food was good but not great, yet pricey for what you got. But that’s Annapolis due to high volume of tourist.
Place had no atmosphere and was stark and plain. Good for breakfast but expect more for dinning out in the evening.
Would not return for dinner but would go for breakfast.
I literally came to iron rooster just for the chicken and waffles. They’re the best I’ve ever had. The portion of chicken/waffle has been sized down, at least my memory tells me it has, but I imagine that has to do with the high demand and making the kitchen more efficient. Our drinks were... not good at all, especially for 10 dollars each we got a watered down whiskey drink and a vodka drink that tasted like a cranberry vodka from armadillos at 11pm. Just sayin’, I was hoping to top of my favorite meal with a fancy cocktail but the drinks fell flat. Will still be back for when that chicken and waffle craving hits - and our server was great by the way!
Our extended family met at the Iron Rooster for our Easter Dinner. There were 8 of us. The service was prompt and friendly. We weren't rushed thru our meal. we had a few apps... the pop tart special, bowl of bacon, and fired peas. All were great. I had the Shrimp and Grits and enjoyed it very much. It was a great meal... a bit on the pricy side, but delicious.
Awesome!! Food was delicious and came out quick, service was great! But you MUST make a reservation.
Great server and phenomenal food. Get there early and get a great view upstairs.
OMG... The pork belly pot roast is to die for. Trust me. We can't stop talking about it.
Service was very good as was the food. Nice location and casual atmosphere
Outstanding in every way. Food, service and friendliness!
The food was wonderful-great chicken and waffles but the real star was the shrimp on a biscuit! The biscuit was TO DIE for and we wished for many of them :-). The dish was not heavy which for whatever reason we had expected it to be-nice surprise! Waiter left quite a bit to be desired including asking if we wanted the gravy on the side (yes please) and then not bringing a spoon for it...we told him we were splitting both dishes and asked for two extra plates and we received two dessert or appetizer size plates...not really appropriate for the dishes we ordered. That said-the service was a small blip and I will be back!
All four of us agreed the food was delicious and the service was top notch.
My sister and I chose Iron Rooster for Annapolis Restaurant Week, and we were pleased with our choice! The chicken and waffles were amazing. Best we’ve had, the gravy was perfect. We ordered everything off the Restaurant Week Menu and for Roostarts we ordered the mixed berries and the brown sugar and cinnamon. Brown sugar and cinnamon, we thought, was better than the mixed berries. Only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is the entrees were our least favorite. The chimichurri sauce was more sweet than savory, we’re used to more vinegar and salt. Come hungry!
This place is cute and atmospheric, and the service was very good, but the food was disappointing, with limited vegetarian options. I can't really recommend that bean-burger -- the texture verged on slimy. The fries were great, however, so all was not lost.
I was in Annapolis on an Arlington County day trip and wanted to have lunch on my own. I chose Iron Rooster based on both OpenTable and Yelp reviews. I wasn’t disappointed.
I arrived a bit early for my 12:15 reservation. No problem. Even thought I was alone, I was seated at a four-top in the window by the bar. My server, Kenya, who was also the bartender, was excellent. I ordered coffee (which she kept refiling) and the crab hash with poached eggs, which was delicious — lots of jumbo lump crab meat with asparagus, crispy potatoes, red peppers, bacon, chipotle hollandaise, and Old Bay. Very tasty, and enough to keep me full for the rest of the day.
The ambiance in the bar was great ... people eating at the bar and at tables. There’s “normal” seating in the rest of the restaurant and upstairs; lighter and airier, but not as much fun.
If you’re looking a place with excellent food that’s not too fancy near the City Dock, this is the place you should try.
It was a snowy night followed by rain. The adults were able to order comfort food and drinks and the kids had breakfast for dinner. A win-win! All topped off with a homemade pop tart for dessert. Yum!
Really Great menu, fresh ingredients, creative options and attentive service. The homemade brown sugar "pop tart" was amazing as was the avocado stuffed with crab meat salad. I wish we had this restaurant in our home town. It was authentic, delicious and fun.
Went for Valentine’s Day and their menu was very yummy. Didn’t decorate for the occasion but the decor is enjoyable anyway. Would highly recommend for a nice causal fun evening out. Oh and of course their breakfast is alway a good idea.
Decided to have a last minute birthday dinner for my dad (85th) with a few friends. Arrived in time for some happy hour specials. Server was very accommodating and helped us celebrate. Monday night half price burgers. Good food, not a lot of green vegetables, though.
Took my son and family for his 6th birthday. Everyone was extremely nice and very accommodating. Been before and can't wait to go back!
What was that? Maybe the worst meal in recent memory for 6 of 7 people at the table. Let’s see, my wife asked for her salmon well done, it arrives 5 min after every other entree and red inside and with no vegetable at all. It comes back from the kitchen blackened with extremely over salted kale. Absolutely disgusting! My cowboy meatloaf was dry and dense, covered in peppercorn sauce without the peppercorns. The same peppercorn less sauce covered the potatoes. The chicken pot pie was soupy. The alcohol was not cooked down in the shrimp leaving a friend buzzed. Another shrimp dish with caramelized onions, tasted though actual caramel had been used. Queso appetizer dip was tasty, fried green tomatoes were good. Waiter never came by once to ask how the food was, probably because he knew the answer already. On many levels this meal failed miserably, using a microwave on frozen food would be an improvement. Sticking to simple breakfast items or burgers on the menus would be the safest way to go.
Great little place! Got a little loud upstairs when all the tables were full but I enjoyed the atmosphere and loved that horse racing was on the tv.
Perfect evening! Food was amazing and the service was great!
Waffle Burger 😍 All day long. Absolutely fantastic food and a great atmosphere.
Always easy to get a table for dinner and great food/prices.
I love Iron Rooster! They're famous for their home-made pop tarts, which are a must-have starter to share before your meal. This is an all-day breakfast joint so if you're in a breakfast food mood, this is the place for you. The front didn't know we had a reservation which kind of sucked but other than that, everything went pretty well.
Food portions were small, too way to long for food to arrive at table. Average taste at best. Dining room is looking old. Stained ceiling tiles need to be replaced. I had high hopes, as this being the original Iron Rooster location. It’s become the worst of the 3 locations. A real shame.
This was my first time visiting the Iron Rooster! Our waitress was amazing. Attentive and pleasant. The food was delicious!! The pop tart is a must try as well as the shrimp and grits! We had a seat on the second floor right by the window. Nice view.
