OMG... The pork belly pot roast is to die for. Trust me. We can't stop talking about it.
Service was very good as was the food. Nice location and casual atmosphere
Outstanding in every way. Food, service and friendliness!
The food was wonderful-great chicken and waffles but the real star was the shrimp on a biscuit! The biscuit was TO DIE for and we wished for many of them :-). The dish was not heavy which for whatever reason we had expected it to be-nice surprise! Waiter left quite a bit to be desired including asking if we wanted the gravy on the side (yes please) and then not bringing a spoon for it...we told him we were splitting both dishes and asked for two extra plates and we received two dessert or appetizer size plates...not really appropriate for the dishes we ordered. That said-the service was a small blip and I will be back!
All four of us agreed the food was delicious and the service was top notch.
My sister and I chose Iron Rooster for Annapolis Restaurant Week, and we were pleased with our choice! The chicken and waffles were amazing. Best we’ve had, the gravy was perfect. We ordered everything off the Restaurant Week Menu and for Roostarts we ordered the mixed berries and the brown sugar and cinnamon. Brown sugar and cinnamon, we thought, was better than the mixed berries. Only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is the entrees were our least favorite. The chimichurri sauce was more sweet than savory, we’re used to more vinegar and salt. Come hungry!
This place is cute and atmospheric, and the service was very good, but the food was disappointing, with limited vegetarian options. I can't really recommend that bean-burger -- the texture verged on slimy. The fries were great, however, so all was not lost.
I was in Annapolis on an Arlington County day trip and wanted to have lunch on my own. I chose Iron Rooster based on both OpenTable and Yelp reviews. I wasn’t disappointed.
I arrived a bit early for my 12:15 reservation. No problem. Even thought I was alone, I was seated at a four-top in the window by the bar. My server, Kenya, who was also the bartender, was excellent. I ordered coffee (which she kept refiling) and the crab hash with poached eggs, which was delicious — lots of jumbo lump crab meat with asparagus, crispy potatoes, red peppers, bacon, chipotle hollandaise, and Old Bay. Very tasty, and enough to keep me full for the rest of the day.
The ambiance in the bar was great ... people eating at the bar and at tables. There’s “normal” seating in the rest of the restaurant and upstairs; lighter and airier, but not as much fun.
If you’re looking a place with excellent food that’s not too fancy near the City Dock, this is the place you should try.
It was a snowy night followed by rain. The adults were able to order comfort food and drinks and the kids had breakfast for dinner. A win-win! All topped off with a homemade pop tart for dessert. Yum!
Really Great menu, fresh ingredients, creative options and attentive service. The homemade brown sugar "pop tart" was amazing as was the avocado stuffed with crab meat salad. I wish we had this restaurant in our home town. It was authentic, delicious and fun.
Went for Valentine’s Day and their menu was very yummy. Didn’t decorate for the occasion but the decor is enjoyable anyway. Would highly recommend for a nice causal fun evening out. Oh and of course their breakfast is alway a good idea.
Decided to have a last minute birthday dinner for my dad (85th) with a few friends. Arrived in time for some happy hour specials. Server was very accommodating and helped us celebrate. Monday night half price burgers. Good food, not a lot of green vegetables, though.
Took my son and family for his 6th birthday. Everyone was extremely nice and very accommodating. Been before and can't wait to go back!
What was that? Maybe the worst meal in recent memory for 6 of 7 people at the table. Let’s see, my wife asked for her salmon well done, it arrives 5 min after every other entree and red inside and with no vegetable at all. It comes back from the kitchen blackened with extremely over salted kale. Absolutely disgusting! My cowboy meatloaf was dry and dense, covered in peppercorn sauce without the peppercorns. The same peppercorn less sauce covered the potatoes. The chicken pot pie was soupy. The alcohol was not cooked down in the shrimp leaving a friend buzzed. Another shrimp dish with caramelized onions, tasted though actual caramel had been used. Queso appetizer dip was tasty, fried green tomatoes were good. Waiter never came by once to ask how the food was, probably because he knew the answer already. On many levels this meal failed miserably, using a microwave on frozen food would be an improvement. Sticking to simple breakfast items or burgers on the menus would be the safest way to go.
Great little place! Got a little loud upstairs when all the tables were full but I enjoyed the atmosphere and loved that horse racing was on the tv.
Perfect evening! Food was amazing and the service was great!
Waffle Burger 😍 All day long. Absolutely fantastic food and a great atmosphere.
Always easy to get a table for dinner and great food/prices.
I love Iron Rooster! They're famous for their home-made pop tarts, which are a must-have starter to share before your meal. This is an all-day breakfast joint so if you're in a breakfast food mood, this is the place for you. The front didn't know we had a reservation which kind of sucked but other than that, everything went pretty well.
Food portions were small, too way to long for food to arrive at table. Average taste at best. Dining room is looking old. Stained ceiling tiles need to be replaced. I had high hopes, as this being the original Iron Rooster location. It’s become the worst of the 3 locations. A real shame.
This was my first time visiting the Iron Rooster! Our waitress was amazing. Attentive and pleasant. The food was delicious!! The pop tart is a must try as well as the shrimp and grits! We had a seat on the second floor right by the window. Nice view.
Seated quickly after we arrived and within minutes of our reservation time. Service was good and prompt (and friendly). Everyone in our group seemed satisfied with what they had. I should have gone with the fruit instead of the Grit Cakes:) but that was my fault. The corned beef hash with over easy eggs was terrific by itself.
We were spoiled for anniversary dinner, a quiet table in the corner of the bar. Our own waiter it was wonderful. And surprise we got there during happy hour which we were able to get a appetizer and a couple drinks with in that timeframe. Wonderful evening
Something for the whole family. Just four salads on their supper menu, but they're tasty ones like the crab stuffed avocado salad. Entree prices are not exactly family-friendly (average is $18), but not outrageous. No side salads offered on the menu, but can probably ask for one. Good beer selection, and fun mixed drinks menu. Shrimp & grits is something they're known for, and it's good! They're also known for their house made "pop tart" which they call a roostart and it is always a hit, and very tasty. It comes in different flavors of the day. We have had them all and they're all delicious especially if you're one who likes pie crust. You can order "breakfast all day." My 11 year old son had the crab hash and almost licked his plate!
Sad to say we had to get up to leave before we even got the chance to eat. I organized this dinner outing for my older siblings and I to go out and celebrate the holiday. My girlfriend had never been to Annapolis so we spent all morning looking at menus and were excited when we stumbled upon your menu. We had a party of 7 and when we went to order drinks my girlfriend and I were denied service. My girlfriend is 23 and I am 22 years old. We had our valid state-issued licenses with us but were denied because they were vertical? Why in the world would I pay $75 for a new license just to change it to horizontal when my current license is still valid for another 2 years... No where in the reservation process was this policy stated, and I tried to find an alternative method for proof of age but was denied. The waitress brought over a manager and he didn't say a word. Grabbed our IDs, looked at them, grunted and put them down and walked away. He then had the waitress come back over to tell us no. We were extremely disappointed. Our party walked across the street and posted a $540 tab, just so you know what you lost out on. I was really looking forward to trying the rooster bites too. Could not have been more disappointed.
The food ia always good and service friendly. Their chicken and waffles are a hood choice.
Made a reservation but still had to wait a while for our table. It was xmas week so they should of planned for crowds but they did not bc they were out of a lot of stuff- including wines and specialty drinks. We ordered the rooster chix app but had to send it back bc the chix was raw- pink and gummy. Meatloaf used to be amazing but was really dry this time. Burger was good, but not outstanding like it used to be. Ordered it medium and it was pretty rare. Chix noodle soup was flavorful but served warm/cold. Server was ok but not very accomodating with all the issues- was just kind of like deal with it which we did wo complaint. Its a shame, used to really like it here. I think this group has grown too big too fast and is letting its charm and attention to details slide. Feels like just another chain restaurant now.
This was our first time here and can’t wait to go back!
I did not have a good meal here. The crunchy peas appetizer was soggy and not appetizing. I ordered the chicken and waffles entree and the waffles and chicken were cold. The chicken and waffles came out 5 minutes after I ordered which led me to believe it had been sitting under a heat lamp in the kitchen for a while. I had a good meal at the Canton location but the Annapolis location did not impress.
All of the staff was very friendly. Our waiter was perfect. He was very attentive and wanted to make sure we had everything we needed. Food was delicious. I recommend the Crab Avocado Salad.
Fun local dining - fresh ingredients - right at city dock.
The food here is always very good, service is fine and the energy is usually high. We've visited when the sun is up but I would guess it's even more lively in the evenings. All day breakfast is my favorite option; salads and sandwiches are also really good.
First time and unfortunately the last time we eat at the Annapolis Md. Iron Rooster. After checking in ( had a reservation) at 11:30 Monday we were seated in upstairs which was nice. The hostess was not welcoming but not a big deal with that really. Our waitress must have been having a bad day because she seemed to be struggling being cordial. Believe me , I understand that they can have bad days. Our son was a waiter during college and I realize it is a hard job. But , this is an honest review of our experience . The oreo pop tart was ok . Not as yummy as I had hoped. Kind of dry . I ordered the fried tomato and egg sandwich and it was mediocre . Not enough garlic aioli spread and thrown together on the plate, so I asked for more and I was half way done the sandwich when she brought more. My husband ordered an omelette and hash potatoes and he enjoyed his meal. I am not sure of what all the hype over this restaurant is and was disappointed in our experience. Took a while for the waitress to come back to get our payment. We weren't in a hurry so it wasn't an issue though. Being a monday it wasn't crowded so the staff shouldn't have been stressed. Unfortunately overall it wasn't a very enjoyable experience as hoped for.
Not a great experience six different entrees we're not available
My husband and I visited Annapolis and were excited to try the Iron Rooster. We were seated at a high top table in the bar area. From the start, our server was inattentive and dismissive. Our food order arrived from a different server as a "carry out" order. We stated that we did not order our food to-go, and assumed it was a mix-up with a different table. Our food came out a few minutes later, and had clearly been dumped from carry out containers. My husband's food was lukewarm and he flagged down our server to tell him. The server was defensive, argumentative and unapologetic. He brought his food back a few minutes later; it has clearly been microwaved. After this, our server never returned to our table, though he did walk by multiple times which was uncomfortable and awkward. The bartender (who was wonderful) stepped in and gave us our check and cleared our plates. The food was fine. It was nothing special, nor did it meet our expectations. The service was unacceptable. We would not return, nor we would recommend the Iron Rooster to a friend.
The cake on cakes and the crab deviled eggs were delicious! We went for the Annapolis Light Show Boat Parade. The restaurant was on a wait, but they sat us right away with a reservation. The service was excellent! Would definitely come back!
The "Cakes on cakes" was wonderful, however the Seared Tuna was overcooked. The created Pop-Tart was wonderful. Come early and prepare to wait.
We had never been there and were pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere was a little more casual than I expected but the service and food was better than expected. We will definitely return.
I went to Iron Rooster because someone recommended it. I was excited to go and went the day after Thanksgiving. The restaurant was fairly empty. The food was really tasty but what ruined it for me was this other customer who was talking so loudly it was obnoxious. We didn’t complain we just ate our dinner quickly and left. The food was good but it wasn’t a menu that I would return for again.
They changed their cocktail list and eliminated certain drinks, which was disappointing. They also changed some of their recipes and executed both the shrimp and grits and the fried green tomatoes poorly. It was a Saturday night too, so a little surprised they didn't have a better chef that evening. Quite disappointed as they are usually great.
