The ahi poke app was great and the monchang entrees we both ordered were good but not great. Our server was tremendous and could not have been more helpful. We understand that the restaurant will be closing its doors shortly and that is a shame.

We visited Imari on our first night at the Hilton. We knew it would be expensive since it is on the resort, but I expected the quality of the food to be higher than what we got. The sushi was very light on fish and heavy on rice. The tempura shrimp and marinated steak appetizers were the highlight of the night.

We have been there 6 times and each has been a wonderful experience. The food, Asian pear saki, and desserts have always been fantastic. I'm only sad it's so far away from our home in Wisconsin. We look forward to eating there each year when we visit the big island.

Nori-wrapped, teriyaki infused tofu "steak" was excellent. Accompanying stir fried vegetables done just crisp/tender. Dessert was perfection--tapioca done with cocoanut milk and topped with mango purée. A selection of Japanese whiskeys and sake available. Service was informed and personable. Get there before the end of February...Hilton is doing away with it as part of a re-do of the Waikoloa resort.

Imari was ridiculously, insultingly overpriced, even by Hawaii resort standards. The wine mark-up was at least 4X. The service and food were extremely mediocre. There was no thought given to the pacing of the meal. One person in our party sat with their appetizer for 15 minutes before anyone else was served. Our server was like a gum-cracking diner waitress from Mel's. A truly unpleasant dining experience.

I never leave bad reviews / just don't go back BUT this was so astonishingly substandard and mediocre - our entire group could not stop talking about it Who can't make fried rice? $56 bento box that looked like Swansons TV dinner.... Just to make it sting more it was the most expensive dinner I had in Kona and we were making the rounds - Browns, Canoe, Ruth(Chris), etc - with NO wine ordered! Clearly their attitude is that they have you captive and can serve you whatever they want and charge you as much as possible Avoid it Who

Very good service....good food somewhat overpriced. Gratuity included for large party at 18%....watch your bill!! One member of our party ordered a Tempura platter which was to include seafood as well as vegetables but there was no shrimp or fish on the plate.....only vegetables. Had to ask for the correct meal which was provided immediately.

Came with average expectations and left with greatest disappointment. Very poor food quality, tasteless and nothing special at all. Long Wait time despite reservation, terrible smell in the restaurant and outside it, only good thing was our caring waiter Ammy. And of course terrible value for the experience twice what should this meal cost at other restaurants. Very disappointed

This was our 2nd time at Imari. Just as before, the sushi was outstanding. We had the Lava Tube as a starter. I had the butterfish with asparagus and brown. It did not disappoint. My husband had the steak crusted with furikake and he was disappointed. The steak was average and too fatty. The portion was small for the price also. I tried apple sake and pear sake (2 different drinks). The apple was much better than the pear to me. Overall, we enjoyed ourselves. If we come back, we won't get the steak again.

We have been coming here for years and this was the worst experience we have had here. The ribeye was half fat and indigestible cartilage pieces. We love paying top dollar for great food, service and ambience and Imari most times doesn't disappoint until this time. The server took so long to come back to take our order and forgot to get my second glass of wine. In general, at any other restaurant, no big deal but if I'm paying $$$$, I expect the entire package. Poor quality at HIGH price is no bueno.

I was really disappointed with Imari. I figured since we were in Hawaii the sushi would be amazing but it turned out very boring. The decor was lovely, but the restaurant was loud because of the teppanyaki shows. It also didn't help that we were seated next to the busing station and they didn't even paper the divider so it was unnerving to eat while looking at the bright red sanitation bucket. For the money I paid I could have eaten way better sushi in Colorado. I would not recommend this place.

Open table didn't given me an option for teppanyaki seating, so we didn't get to sit at a teppanyaki table. The host was not pleasant or helpful at all. But, our server was nice and the food was delicious and the manager gave us a free dessert for the inconvenience.

We ordered a bottle of red wine and several sushi items. They brought the wine so chilled we could hardly drink it. We tried holding the glass to warm it and two minutes later our sushi arrived stone cold as though it had been pre made and in a refrigerator. We all know it takes more than two minutes to make several different kinds of sushi rolls. It was clearly pre made!!! Drinking chilled red wine and pre made sushi while being rushed was not the romantic atmosphere we wanted on our anniversary. I do not recommend this place. It's over priced for the quality and service we received.

This place is all about Ambiance - the Koi pond, is super peaceful, walking into and around the restaurant is jaw dropping. Unfortunately, this sushi leaves quite a bit to be desired. A very limited selection and quality that wasn't on at with similar level restaurants back home (Seattle). Specifically, the nigiri cuts at room temp, mushy, and lacking flavor. Farm raised sake instead of wild, chewy unagi (like rubbery kind of chewy!!). Didn't try the steaks or teppanyaki so can't comment on those.

There are 2 parts of the restaurant, the teppanyaki and the al a carte. Sushi and entrees are served in the al a carte part. The sushi is fantastic and sitting next to the Koi pond is quieter and more serene than sitting in the teppanyaki dining area. We went three times during our visit and though you can't see the sunset from the restaurant, it was a nice quiet break from bigger crowds with outstanding food and wine. Service was fantastic as well.

For a family friendly restaurant at a resort they competely missed the mark by a mile. Opened at 5:30 but couldn't even start seating until 5:45 and the waitress who came by could not remember the specials so we couldn't order until 6pm. Then the fish of the day cam first with kids food last, at 6:30. By that time youngest was overtired and hungry so we had to take all the food to go. The little we are was ok at best. The koi pond was great, everything els below average or worst.

We wouldn't recommend. Service was vary slow especially with the amount of customers dinning during the time we were there. It took over 45mins to get our second round of drinks. We have a few of their specialty sushi rolls and the server recommend their seared scallop. The sushi rolls were take good and the scallops were over cooked. The Teppanyaki looked more entertaining than the other side of the restaurant.
