Food was excellent. Happy to be back there!
We had lunch at 11.30. What a great quiet time to be there! Poke bowl was delicious! Highly recommend!
Great food, service and ambiance!
The dinner buffet was definitely not up to par with this hotel’s high standards. The food was tasteless, bland and very overpriced for what was offered!
Wonderful dining experience!
Food was cold. Prime rib was very good. Service was excellent. Really pricy for what you got. You should let people know it is a limited buffet before hand.
Our waiter was very attentive, and provided fantastic service thank you!
Wonderful place to have a quiet lunch if you go about 11.30. The fish was outstanding and the salad that accompanied it was delicious.
It’s in beautiful surroundings and it’s very affordable for lunch.
We loved eating at the Ilima Terrace every morning for breakfast. They have an omelette station where they can make omelettes to your liking and also offer a variety of food items to choose from. They also offer fresh fruit and pastries. The food is very good and the service is wonderful. They are all so friendly and attentive and we loved our view. Our server, Lydia was outstanding and so nice and friendly. Our other server, Harry was very hospitable as well and we enjoyed interacting with him our last night at the resort as we walked in for their dinner buffet.
So many kids was not the best food
Buffet food was awful. Nice setting, a good waiter, but atrocious food quality.
I won’t be back.
45th anniversary. Prime rib night at this restaurant. It definitely is not a repeat for us. Sub-par food
Food was way too overpriced for the quality and variety. It should have been half the cost. Won’t be going again during our stay. Service and ambience was fantastic though.
Poor service and terrible food
Our service was great. Greg was very attentive. It was an Italian Buffet Night. The food was good, not great. The view and ambiance were spectacular. Value was poor. The buffet was $59/person, so with two cocktails, one glass of wine, two meals and tip the cost was $195. Buyer beware!!
The food at Ilima Terrace was ok for breakfast and mostly bad for the Prime Rib Buffet dinner. Pair this with food being majorly overpriced - beyond the “paradise tax” IMHO. Loco moco on the breakfast menu for $27 that was really only ok. The ~$20 two eggs breakfast does not come with toast, but you can get it on the side for $6 (if you’re staying at the Grand Hyatt the same meal is on the room service breakfast menu for the same price and comes with the toast. Why?! The dinner buffet was $59 pp and not worth half that price. The salad and prime rib were fine, but everything else was pretty bad. I could deal if it was expensive and the quality of the food matched the prices, but I have been honestly shocked at the lack of quality of the food in general at the Grand Hyatt (we have not eaten at Tidepools or Stevenson’s Library because they are booked solid rn). The lunch place, Hale Nui, by the pools has been the only food bright spot on the resort though still expensive. Expensive here is expected. Bad quality and expensive…no thanks! Servers and staff overall - fantastic. Views and ambiance - amazing.
Service was spectacular! & workers were especially professional & NICE!
The food was just alright. There was nothing special about the prime rib or other foods. Deseret was good but definitely not worth $60 a person. We canceled our dinner for Thursday night because we don’t think it’s worth it. The place in beautiful but so is everywhere else In the resort. I do not recommend.
This is only a review for the dinner buffet at Ilima. For $59 per person (adult) you will find yourself in a sparsely populated large room (the same room as the hotel breakfast service). Each night is a different “theme” but I would say the delivery is very uninspiring and a bit depressing for a hotel of this caliber. We ended up there on Latin night which included a taco bar, a whole roast pig, some stale dinner rolls and limited salad options. There were more servers than patrons which tells you a lot about the place. The cost is too high for such basic food which to be honest did not even taste that great. You left feeling ripped off which is not the feeling they should be leaving their guests with. I will say the servers are excellent and really want to please but the food is lousy. Desserts were decent. The breakfast buffet while also expensive is a much better experience.
Food was good but missed the buffet.
We had f to he must amazing time… ambience was amazing food was delicious and service was impeccable
The marinated beef was so tough you could barely cut it. The shrimp scampi had little shrimp and should not have had crab or whatever it had in it. The swordfish was overcooked. All of the deserts were sub par. Overall, the meal was disappointing.
Food was cold and unimpressive
Open Buffett at a vey high price for mediocre at the best seafood quality! You have much better sea food on other places on the island
OpenTable should have a notification that this is a buffet meal. There are very limited options on Kauai given the pandemic restrictions and volume of travelers to the island. This venue is advertised as a nice, fine dining establishment. Upon seating, we were given buffet menus for a fixed price of $79 per person and the food was terrible. It reminded me of what’s served at a bad wedding. Save your money and stay away from this money egregious theft. There is a reason they have tables available every evening. I rather would have ordered a pizza than spend over $200 for a meal that wasn’t fit for a pet.
The food was not good. Very view options for a buffet and expensive for what they offer. Would not recommend.
Our server, Harry was excellent and very attentive. The prime rib, fish not salty. The desserts were so good. The fruit cobbler tasted homemade. The server told us to ask for ice cream & Harry brought us a mango & raspberry with vanilla sorbet. We put it on the cobbler. It was heavenly! The meal came with drinks & I ordered the coffee. The coffee was great tasting. Definitely 5 stars. Staff very nice & friendly. Thank you so much Harry & staff. Awesome job!
Cora greeted us with grace and smiles… I requested a table near the Koi pond, and she responded… it’s your anniversary… May I offer you the best table in the house with a view of the ocean? Steven was our server, very professional and attentive. Normally serves at Tidepools, the formal steakhouse, and created an excellent experience. Kanoe offered exceptional and individual experience at the “buffet”.
The team at Ilema, seemingly led by Michael, turned a mediocre night into a personable & fun culinary evening.
Buffet style. Greasy. Beautiful ambiance but missed the mark on the menu
Overpriced, low selection of options and need to offer vanilla ice cream with a dessert like cobbler. That’s dessert 101
A magnificent architectural space (as are all the public lobbies at this resort). It was Italian buffet night, which we did not know when booking. No other a la carte options. So the food had a B- catering hall look and taste. Still enjoyable, but at $60 a head excluding wine it was pricey. I think COVID was the cause for buffet only.
Table was dark, buffet was a strange format, not a pleasant dinner
Food was not good….View and service were very good.
People should be made aware that there is a fixed menu for each day. Would not have booked if I had known that.
Amazing food and great customer service! The view is incredible.
Our server Harry is truly amazing and he is the reason we go back to this restaurant! The food is great as well but it truly helps when your service is excellent! Mahalo!
Buffet was closed for brunch
Not much to add to the other poor reviews! Unfortunately, reviews are accurate. First and foremost this is the Grand Hyatt which mostly everything else about the resort is pretty Grand! Been here several times and love the resort! Breakfast here is one thing: well priced, decent food and great service! Dinner …. Throw all that out!The hotel should be pretty ashamed by this. The food was bad! The buffet servers were unfriendly as if being forced to give you food. On prime rib night, the carver was carving 1/8” slices of prime rib and that’s all. You realize this is prime rib night and there is no other protein? Can I maybe get a 1/4” please?!?
The catch 22 is that no other restaurants have availability so you take what you can get. But even if this is the last option, I’d avoid it! $60 a plate for cold food and not very friendly service isn’t worth it!!! Breakfast A+ dinner F
Hopefully Hyatt figures it out and gets back to offering a grand experience at llima terrace!
