You’d swear this place has been around since the '40s. A bar commands the narrow room flanked by booths and tables. Servers in coats, bartenders in jackets yet with a casual air that screams welcome. American classics; juicy hand-formed burgers. Lunchtime, a carver chef slices fresh roast beef and roast turkey for sandwiches. Small plates span America’s history; supper club shrimp cocktail up-to-the-minute items as tuna tataki, fresh guacamole prepared table side, fresh spring rolls stuffed with rice noodles, shrimp and holy basil. “Big Plates”; Fillet Oscar, homemade meat loaf, pork prime rib, house smoked ribs, all can include soup, salad, bread and a basket of plastic-wrapped crackers, just like in the old days. Ike's has a serious bar, strong drinks, vintage cocktails and ice cream drinks a good selection of beers and wines by the glass. An enormous portioned brunch, you won’t leave hungry. The cinnamon rolls are the best. They have a giant Bloody Mary with everything but the kitchen sink it...I skipped the giant one, and asked for one with less groceries in it. I knew I wouldn’t be able to eat all that and the brunch.

It’s a bummer when you have a reservation at a restaurant only to discover it is closed when you arrive. Seinfeld was right about the importance of keeping, not merely taking, the reservation.

First off, Open Table says their is a happy hour from 3-6pm. It does not state that this is M-F, and even shows this as a special when we booked our table on Saturday. However, when we get to restaurant, happy hour is only M-F. Regardless, the bar tender gave me happy hour price for first drink. My wife ordered the steak sandwich. It was not sliced steak, but 2 chunks of steak. She was unable to bite through, and i tried cutting with knife with much difficulty. Was more medium rare than medium well she ordered. She returned it and got a hamburger. Overall, not the best experience.

We were entertaining a couple thinking of a move to the twin city area. It was a Monday night and we were able to easily converse. The food and service was outstanding. The chef stopped by to check on our satisfaction. An excellent option for downtown dining in Minneapolis.

First time brunch outing on a recommendation from a friend. Definitely worth the trip. Service was spot on! Food just kept coming. Like until we kindly told them to stop bringing it....and I'm an eater!

I had the walleye which was very good. One of our group ordered a party melt medium well that came out rare and when she asked for onion rings instead of fries she was told after the fact that she could not sub onion rings. We had two specialty drinks (apple pie martini and spiced pear martini that came out with so much ginger beer in them that you could not taste anything but ginger. Our first try of this place but I'm not sure if try again sorry to say.

Used to frequent Ike’s and haven’t been there in awhile, so we were downtown and decided to stop in for dinner. We always love the tableside chips and guacamole, but I remember the chips used to be made in store? This time they just seemed like inexpensive grocery store chips. I ordered the ribs, had them in the past and seemed to fall off the bone but this time were very tough. Wife’s salmon was good. For a modest meal and a few drinks the bill came to $135. Tried to use an Ike’s gift card we received but it can only be used at the Minnetonka location. (Aren’t they all Ike’s?) sat a group next to us who was incredibly loud. We expect crowds and noise, but they were over the top. Service wSngreat, but not a great value, and overall were disappointed.

A nice alternative to the steakhouses around it. I like the fact that its a local restaurant. Good selection from fine dining to sandwiches and burgers. Salads looked like they came straight out of the Dole package, but they were good. Service was slow. Decor was dated.

Warm comfortable atmosphere with good food and service. Fun stop when in the Minneapolis area, never fails to be good. Ambiance on a cold winter day is especially is inviting. The reliable warm cookies and lollipops following the meal is always a delight! Waite staff is always very friendly also.

Menu is diverse, something for everyone. Server seemed new, but took care of us. Food took quite awhile to come out. My salad was nicely dressed and very good. Salmon on top was pretty plain. My husband loved his filet.

I am an Ike's devotee; I have never had a bad experience at this wonderful place! I love the food, but I also appreciate the cozy, intimate, atmosphere; one would never know that a bustling city street was just outside to the two sets of double doors of this gem.

The ambience is sports bar which wasn’t what we expected - definitely not supper club vibe. The center of the room is a large bar. Restaurant seating is booths and tables in each side. There are a number of large tv’s. The noise level was very high with talking and yelling from other guests. Food was actually pretty good.

Food was not cooked through. Manager and staff however were very appropriate. Did not make us pay for appetizer or drink. Offered us a $50 gift card. We elected not to take it. Hoping it was just a bad night for them.

Always great at Ike’s. They updated their prices, so doublecheck your receipt vs. the menu-there were errors but they immediately corrected it. One of my top spots to go for lunch. The steak salad is the best, and the staff is always exceptional.

I haven't been here in a while... and first of all you need to know that I love Ike's. The ambiance alone makes it worth a stop. I noticed in this past lunch that quality of food is slipping a bit. I had the walleye sandwich, and it was just ok. The bun was semi-stale and hadn't been toasted... and for $16 you should have an amazing sandwich. This may have been an anomaly (or maybe you should only get red meat here), but it wasn't their best showing.

Food was good, but pricey. A turkey dinner with no bread, salad, veg shouldn’t cost $16. Mashed potatoes need work...pretty flavorless. Stuffing was good but nothing to write home about. Turkey was tender and moist but pretty much cold. Gravy...eh. Wait staff a little cocky, but I didn’t mind that. Tiny chocolate chip cookie was great...but should be bigger or in two’s.

Ike’s was good. The service was great and the food was delicious. But they really need to fix their air conditioning. It was stifling in there. We would have stayed longer because they had some fun drinks, but it was ridiculously hot in there. We had reservations and a concert to get to otherwise we might have just gone to eat somewhere else. It was that hot. The server said it’s always like that in the summer the AC can’t keep up. So I’d go again, but prob only in the cooler months.
