best cheeseburger i’ve ever had
My boyfriend and I went to Husk for our anniversary. We had a 9:15pm reservation so spent some time in the bar beforehand. The bar was definitely the highlight of our experience and we would definitely recommend it! The atmosphere was great, the service was wonderful and the drinks were delicious. We were less than impressed by our dining experience. The atmosphere was okay, the food was good, but the service and the “hype” of the restaurant’s reputation did not meet our standards. Overall, we were glad we went, but would only go back to the bar area for drinks and bar snacks.
Best fried chicken ever. Shrimp and grits also great. Ask to sit in the upper porch.
Amazing meal, but a very limited menu.
Very disappointing! We reserved a dinner at Husk for a 60th Birthday. The pork chop I ordered was tough and tasteless and the other entry, the snapper, was very average. Again, we really looked forward to dining here and left with a very bad impression of what was suppose to be the top restaurant in the south!
Loved my appetizer of country ham with wonderful biscuits, & housemade pickles. My entree of pork with pit-smoked butterbeans with cornbread croutons was delicous. Great service, nice atmosphere, great cocktails.
Very innovative and ever evolving menu. All local ingredients. Wonderful catfish dish and definitely unique flavors.
Delicious food, attentive waitstaff, beautiful dining room. Favorite restaurant in Charleston!
The food was literally transcendent. The service was good, but not up to the quality of the food. To be fair, I think our server was jammed up about something.
My friend and I were very excited to try Husk after we read the raving reviews about the restaurant while we were in Charleston. However, we were extremely disappointed with the experience. When we arrived, we met with the hostess and advised her that we had a reservation. She told us that we would need to wait for a bit until our table is ready, so she suggested we go to the bar next door. The bartenders were busy, but certainly had the opportunity to greet us and provide us with menus to look over the drink options. Instead, they ignored us for over 5 minutes. When one of them finally did acknowledge us, I asked if there was another bar upstairs and he replied, rudely, that it was just more people. When we went into the restaurant and were seated, the server was less than friendly or welcoming. She did not talk to us about the menu or the specialities. We were seated at 9:30 PM, which became clear was their last seating of the evening. We ordered an appetizer, a shared salad, and each of us ordered the strip steak. The appetizer and salad arrived at the same time and our entrees showed up about 10 minutes later. Additionally, the wine menu lacked options if you were only interested in getting a glass of wine. The only Cabernet on the menu that was available as a glass was $19. Sadly, the food was not well prepared. The sauce for the strip steak was overpowering and the vegetables were overly salted. The cornbread lacked flavor. The salad was mediocre. The only redeeming part of the meal was the appetizer. Overall, we were very disappointed with our experience. We ate in a number of restaurants during our visit to Charleston and thought that the pretentious attitude of the server, the bartender, and the rude attitude the hostess gave to people who came in without a reservation was unbecoming. It made the overall experience very disappointing for us. Clearly the restaurant staff no longer feel the need to earn the reputation and are simply riding its coattails.
Second time at Husk. Love what they do to food, especially fried chicken skins. Unique restaurant. Waiter was very pleasant.
Lovely venue, great service and fantastic food. Would recommend to anyone visiting Charleston.
Chris our server was perfect! The flavor profiles were home runs
The food is amazing! The waiters are very informative of the food and beverages. Best fried chicken I've ever had. The location is on quiet street and the ambiance is great! They change their menus daily so you know the ingredients are super fresh. I would recommend it to anyone visiting Charleston.
The food was delicious and the service was amazing.
Best hamburger I’ve ever had! Also, dessert was unreal! Definitely coming back
We had a late reservation since that was all that was available and when we were seated upstairs, the volume of the place was vibrating to floors. A number of large groups seated near us were having a very good time. Our waiter was superb - very knowledgeable about the menu (loved the recommendation of the RC glazed duck) and was responsive to us. As the other diners started to leave, we began to relax and enjoy the lovely dining room.
I was a little disappointed in my experience at Husk. I ordered the pork chop and when I cut into the chop it was still nearly raw in the middle. The waiter did take it back and it was the proper temperature when returned but I was disappointed that we weren’t offered a drink or dessert. I don’t expect the restaurant to fully comp the meal but the server could have offered something. I don’t live locally but if I returned to Charleston I don’t know that I would go back
Loved everything about this place except for the acoustics. It was a busy Saturday night and the volume increased the later it got. Aside from that, the food was creative and amazing. Our server was helpful, patient and sweet. And the attention to detail outstanding. Beautiful ceramic plates, silverware replaced with each course and the restaurant itself a renovated historic home. I had the tilefish which was delicious served with smoky vegetables and a crumble of brown butter/nuts which rehydrated in the broth that the fish was in. My sweetheart had the pork chop which he basically inhaled.
Dessert was a combo of grapefruit sorbet and sorghum cake; a teeny tiny serving so don’t plan on sharing! Expensive? Yes. Worth it? We thought so.
Husk lived up to its reputation! delicious, complex and interesting food in a simple but refined atmosphere. the restaurant is in a beautiful old colonial mansion. loved it.
Our server, I think his name was Jeremy, was attentive without hovering. He shared, with a sense of pride, the sourcing of the food prepared at Husk. The pimento cheese appetizer my friend and I shared was beyond describing, delicious doesn't even come close...who knew I liked pimento cheese this much? Prepared like this on crostinis...THIS GIRL!!
Nice. Beautiful place, nice setting, great service
Lunch was incredible here. We had the pulled pork pork boy, the fried chicken, and the mushroom Farro. Everything was so delicious and I loved that they let you know exactly where the ingredients are sourced.
Drinks, appetizers and entrees were awesome. The only thing subpar was dessert, it looked beautiful but the blondie was hard as a rock. Either old or just over done.
Great sweet pea hummus!
My pork belly sandwich was excellent! Creative menu with locally sourced ingredients. Knowledgeable server was very helpful. Would love to go back for dinner.
Great atmosphere, great service, and killer food. Amazing experience
Husk lives up to the press. After ten years it may still be the best meal in Charleston.
Had dinner @ Husk a couple of times in the past year, however this time a disappointment. Looked so forward to their excellent food, especially their oysters and this time was sent to my table in a giant mound of ice, with the most tiny oysters and an absurd topping. I had several other apps and only one was good, the ribs.... Wondering what has happened to Husk? and probably won't return for a long time.
Excellent service and food.
Great option for lunch if you can't get dinner reservations. You don't want to miss Husk! The food was so delicious because they pay attention to each and every ingredient that goes into the dishes they prepare.
All the hype I read about Husk is true. Well worth going. The food is fresh, southern, and delicious. The best shrimp and grits I’ve tasted in Charleston, and I have tasted quite a few interpretations of this dish throughout the city.
Creative food selection, interesting flavors, nicely presented, good service.
The food was good but nothing too special. Hyped up so I was expecting more.
My husband and I dined at Husk for a late lunch to round out my birthday get away weekend. We ordered the Husk burger and brisket melt sandwich. We asked the waiter to split them so we could each have half. We were presented with 1/2 of each on separate small plates which we much appreciated. Both were DELICIOUS and matched or even exceeded the praises we had heard about each. We each had dessert (strawberry ice cream sundae with blonde brownie and a chocolate bar dessert) They were VERY tasty as well, but not what I would classify as “to die for” but it was my birthday and I wanted a sweet treat.
The service was excellent and the ambiance enjoyable. Would definitely recommend to all!
Fun place. Good lunch food and amazing barrel aged Manhattan!
Great food, very pretty restaurant. Fast, great service!
Pig ears disgusting. Mule cocktail strong. Not able to drink. Overall disappointing.
Good food. Expected more. Long gaps between courses.
Sometimes Husk can go a while without changing up their entrees, but this time they delivered with the tilefish and the cola-glazed duck leg. Accompanying vegetables were superb, as were the chicken skin appetizer (probably my favorite thing there). My only complaint is sitting on the first floor next to the kitchen opening, it got kind of smoky towards the end of the meal and I could actually smell the smoke on my clothes afterward. That is not very becoming of an expensive restaurant, although I have never had that issue anywhere else in the restaurant.
