Had my birthday here! So good! Great staff! Food was so good!
Absolutely delicious! A treat for sure. From the grilled oysters to the pecan tart, every bite was one to savor. We will be back!! Thank you to the lovely staff who keep such an incredible dining experience going
As a Black couple, with a reservation, we arrived immediately before a party of 4 Caucasians, only to be seated after that party by restaurant representative #1. We were approached by restaurant representative #2 who revealed that it was the second day on the job for #1.
Whether or not this was true, the optics did not look good, irrespective of the difference of the races. They were made worse by the racial differences.
My salad was amazing and my husband's dinner was delicious. I just wish they had a vegetarian option. I did not care for vegetables I was given but I would still go there again.
My salad was good but I guess we were there on a night the menu did not suit our taste. I ordered the pork but was not expecting pork belly.
I eat an anti-inflammatory diet, clean foods, etc. My husband enjoys eating and has no allergies or restrictions. Husk was amazing for both of us! The server, Vilda, is a nutrition health coach so she 100% was a gift for anyone like me. The creative chef was able to put together the foods I could eat to create a delicious, excellent meal. The outside seating was spacious, comfortable, welcoming and warm with the outside heaters. (It was mid January and a bit chilly). If we had been in Charleston longer, we would've eaten dinner here every day!
Had heard about Husk many times but had never been able to eat there. It did not disappoint. Everything was top notch. Creative and wonderfully prepared plates, professional but friendly service, and top notch cocktails. Highly recommended.
Limited menu. Didn't offer any bread with meal. Had to purchase cornbread in a pan to have bread with dinner. Limited salads. Service was quick, and what we ordered was good, but atmosphere was plain. We were finished with our meal before we finished with the first glass of wine. OK, but not a memorable experience.
The food was horrible. The oyster arrived to the table nearly ice cold (wood-fired oysters). The entrees (shrimp and catfish) were terrible. The portion was three (3) small shrimp, a couple of pieces of overcooked sausage, and some mushy dumplings. Horrible. The fried catfish was severely under seasoned. Both entrees arrived barely lukewarm. The pecan tart tasted stale and had no pecan flavor at all. The chocolate chess pie was good. The best part of the meal was the well made Manhattan I enjoyed as a pre-dinner cocktail. I am so disappointed in Husk. A few years ago, we had a great meal at this location. Since then, we've eaten at the Savannah location (terrible food and service) for lunch, and now this meal in Charleston. They will not stay in business long with this sort of service, which is a shame because the original idea of true farm to table cooking, and Sean Brock's creativity, was once an exciting concept.
Food was literally indescribable! The flavors of each dish were so exquisitely combined that everything worked perfectly. This place more than exceeded our high expectations.
What a great experience. From a quick check-in, a fantastic waiter, stellar food, and great wine selection, it’s hard to beat. We will be going again tomorrow.
Absolutely amazing food and service. Our waiter was extremely nice and knowledgeable about every item on the menu. Every plate he recommended was delicious
Excellent meal! Appreciate the forward-thinking Southern food and hospitality!
I have lived in the area for many years and just now have finally made it a point to eat at Husk for my birthday. I ordered a traditional birthday dinner for me which was only on the "secret" menu. A cheeseburger I had read about somewhere. What can I say, that's my thing, a fancy restaurant and try out different burgers to see who does it right. Let's face it, you can't make a good hamburger then the rest of the menu is probably not good either. Anyway, back to the point... Husk is a must go to place! It was fantastic from arrival through departure. The food was excellent, the ambiance was very nice and service was spot on and very friendly. I have tried some local burger favorites and people may say what the hell are you eating a burger for in a place like this.... Let me say if you don't try it at least once, YOU ARE MISSING OUT! It was fantastic! Best one yet. Thank you for sharing this "secret" menu item with me and all of the other sides and desert was just awesome!
The corn bread was a little bland. Could have used a little more salt sugar and ummpphh
It’s a shame that this institution is a imply extracting what’s left of Sean Brock’s legacy. I typically say nothing if nothing nice. But don’t waste your time or money. I’ve made Blue Apron meals with better flavor profiles and execution. There are many (many!) Fabulous restaurants in Charleston - Husk is no longer one of them. The heart of Husk has moved on. To boot, the staff - a bunch of frat boys and girls who don’t take food seriously and think they’re cool because they work at Husk. It felt like a glorified Cheesecake Factory, not a game changer for southern cuisine.
Second time in a week. One of my favorite restaurants in America. Period.
Wonderful dinner. Food, ambiance & service was superb.
Good food good service. Yes they are serious about social distancing
Great food and drinks. Service was outstanding.
Was there for Brunch. Overall very good but the Ham and cheese biscuit was extremely salty.
Outstanding. Best meal of our trip. Highly recommended.
Everything was great. The appetizers were a little underwhelming, but the entrees were mouthwatering delicious. Overall we had a great time
Best meal we’ve had in Charleston. Excellent choice for any occasion!
Ambiance was strange. No pleasantry from any staff, just a strange vibe. We were there celebrating an anniversary, noted on the reservation, absolutely no mention of it. Our server was not welcoming and straight to the point, drinks, food, check. We were done in less than 40 minutes. The food was underwhelming for our expectations. Not bad, just super small portions for the money and definitely didn’t live up to the hype.
Wonderful! Can’t wait to go back!!
Consistently good food. The appetizers of pimento cheese with homemade pickles was so good. We always try to eat at Husk at least one time while in the Charleston area.
we had a very nice time! Would like to go back and try the lunch or dinner menu!
great waiter.
Really disappointing - food was mediocre, lacking in much flavor and disappointing compared to the menu descriptors. We even took our servers recommendations for the best dishes - just totally lackluster, especially compared to the stellar food and service we experienced across the city.
Great spot in downtown Charleston! Very attentive staff, great drinks and amazing food. Will definitely be back!
Excellent food and service
Always a pleasure! Great experience
Spectacular, as always!
Great place. Food was amazing. The server was inexperienced and missed some of the easy stuff (telling us about specials... getting prices on specific bourbon we asked about). Love it there and we will always be back!
Everything from our hostess greeting to her good night was pure perfection. Our waiter provided recommendations and details about menu items. He was charismatic, knowledgeable, and witty. He never allowed water glasses to go empty and even had playful banter with our children. The food was amazing and portions were as expected at this type of establishment.
Husk is perhaps our favorite restaurant in the country. We have been eating there since it opened and love the place. This visit, however, it was a bit off its game.
The bar’s riff on a Blackstrap Jungle Bird was uninspired and far too sweet. The herbaceousness of the original was destroyed by the addition of root beer.
Our favorite app was on the menu; crispy pig ear lettuce wraps. Unfortunately, the julienned pig years had spent far too much time in the fryer. They were tooth-breakingly hard.
My red shrimp and house made sausage was just OK. The portion was small and the sauce was flat and lackluster.
My wife’s steak was superb and served over a fabulous bed of grain reminiscent of quinoa; the grain was meal worthy in itself.
For the first time ever, service was snobby and haughty. We would refuse to be seated again at one of her tables. Additionally, we requested second floor seating, but we’re relegated to a first floor table directly in the path of the servers.
Husk is one of America’s culinary treasures. Everyone has an off night and we look forward to our next visit.
Husk was just as expected by the reviews - a must do for Charleston! We made our reservation on OpenTable 3 weeks in advance for 5:00, and it was a great time to arrive! Beautiful restaurant, great service and wonderful food! This place is great for a date night, but also great for families! We brought our 2 year old daughter and had a great time.
For an appetizer we got the wood fired oysters and skillet cornbread which paired great with the hot sauce brought to the table, but to be honest the appetizers weren't a huge WOW so we worried dinner would be the same. Wrong! Dinner was amazing! The pork and the quail dishes were outstanding, so nicely made and packed with flavor!
Great choice for dinner, loved experiencing this Charleston hot spot!
A lovely experience, looking forward to returning very soon!
Over priced, overrated. Maybe I’m too simple for this place but we did not like the food, and the portion sizes were TINY. We went out to eat again after leaving. Shrimp was fishy, cornbread was bland. Extremely disappointed
